Hi James, I am currently a student on this course, it is very good, as are most of your courses. Thanks. However I would be most grateful if you or one of your team would take a bit of time to answer all the good questions arising form the course. Some have become frustrated and have just given up, which is sad as most of the answers are probably quite simple. We are investing in you (I have most of your courses), please invest some time on your customers.

This is a great course! I learned a lot and coded my first real game! It was so much fun and inspired me to go on with this. The basics were created. Thanks

Can’t wait to give this new one a go! One of your previous tutorials saved my 3 person team in a college game design course 😅

Q: Would the topics covered in this course cater for a 2.5D platformer? Or better to take your latest 3D platformer one and adjust the camera code to perform in a 2.5D manner?
@gamesplusjames Жыл бұрын
Yes, it absoultely should. Switching to 2.5D is essentially just a camera change (using perspective instead of orthographic) but you would still use the 2D physics system. Switching from 3D down to 2.5D is actually much harder to do!

Already bought a similar course for Godot. Not touching Unity ever again, it's not worth the risk. Oh well, maybe next time.

Which Godot course you are referring to?

"Create a Complete 2D Platformer in the Godot Engine" by Firebelly Games. Really good tutorial!

@@eyyyshalom5351 the godot bandwagon over something that may never happen to any indie developer unless they become worldwide known and succesful making hundreds and thousands of dollars a year... lol, game development is hard enough to make things even harder choosing a poor engine but popular among some developers, but hey to each their own.
@mattrobb3566 Жыл бұрын
Sadly that may be a wrong move! Unless of course you are successfully selling millions of Apps. The Unity approach was disappointing, yes. But for most indie developers it makes little difference. Godot is actually quite different from Unity (as Im sure you know by now), but by switching (if you already had decent Unity skills) you may be setting yourself back by 6 months to a year before you develop similar skills in Godot. Nevertheless good luck to you.
