I've watched all your videos David, your original conservatory build on YT gave me the confidence to buy a 2nd hand Georgian teak UPVC conservatory, and do the footings, block work, erection, false floor, wiring and rad' installation on my own. I watched what you did step by step and you beat any other conservatory build videos on YT hands down. You are a great teacher, so I wanted to say a big thank you for taking the effort to get these videos up - I always look forward to them coming along and it's the only way I learn how to do new things.

Well now, I have 2 'conservatories' in the house I've just moved into. There are a couple of tiny leaks, and having moved in beginning of December it's CHUFFIN' COLD! So it's going to be equally as hot in the summer. I'm going to make my brother and son in law watch these with a view to copying, so thank you, thank you, thank you!!! (Not sure what they'll say mind). Well done and a great job!

Great Job David I've watch the full build, you've done a smashing job. I have to do mine, but can't follow your plan as mine is a edwardian style pitch, but like you i won't be giving my money to a company, i will build myself. cheers Kev

Hi David great video, what's it been like this cold spell were having and how did you seal the new roof where it met the house. in the video you just pushed it against the wall. I like to try this my self but we live on the coast and get driving rain, so need to seal it water tight. Thanks mostyn

Turned out great David 👍🏻 I wonder how easy it would be to fit a velux in that type of roof (just thinking of the larger jobs) - also i wouldn’t worry about the wind noise it’s been at the start of your videos for years 👍🏻👍🏻🤣🤣

Hello, Really impressed with the build and the video itself. So much so you've inspired me to do something similar. Can i ask how it was through the winter? Also is there anything you would change with hindsight? Thanks so much George

Hi Thank you, as for the roof its commercial roofing sheets I got off eBay

Fantastic job, look amazing and you made it look so simple... Question are these panels really heavy? I only ask because last year I just super quilted the under side of the lean to conservatory roof and plasterboarded it and skied it. Now I want to tackle the outside. Do you think I can put this roof structure right on top of the existing roof... May use battens secured to the roof?
@dmgladden
@dmgladden 2 жыл бұрын
Hi, yes I would think so they are an easy lift the size I got was about 8kg no more each and as long as they are supported at each end they hold them selves up

Amazing work, David. I have been thinking for a while about something like this and indeed, as you mention, you are the first guy to actually do a conservatory with these steel insulated panels and talk about it on the Internet. Having now past a good while since you installed it, has the roof alone made the conservatory (more) usable in winter? Also, have you noticed any problems so far, particularly related to cold bridging? Thanks
@dmgladden
@dmgladden Жыл бұрын
Hi Lucy, in short I can say I've noticed no problems of any kind with this roof and it has made the conservatory as another room throughout winter we use it as are dinning room and just had a cold snap of -12c for a full week and the room was as the rest nice a warm. Hope this help.
@luc5543
@luc5543 Жыл бұрын
@@dmgladden That is impressive, thanks for the feedback. I would have thought such a large glazed area would - at some point - made the conservatory cold regardless of the roof. Do you reckon one could get away with 50 or 80mm thickness for the roof sheet?

Yes a nice job we have a conservatory like yours but not as long with a flat roof now we have had the conservatory for about 11 years and it has been usles its far to hot in the day and freezing on a night and it has ruined most of are things we keep in there but I have been looking into wat to do but I am going to try and put insulation on the inside first and see what that's like I was wondering when you have put the new roof on has it cured it is it not boiling in the day and not to cold on a night thanks David

Hi as you know the past two weeks have seen us it 30+ and like you most hot days the conservatory was far too hot to use but this time even in such heat it was fine it felt like the rest of the house of caurse in the windows you feel the heat coming through but the room is no longer an oven we have yet to see how it stands In winter as it was always too cold but so far it's the best investment we could have made really it works
