I'd want to know if those lakes were subject to backup. And wonder if the area has ever flooded before

No, this is not a low-lying area. If you only watch the news, they'll make you believe that everything floods in FL. However, it's just not true. For the most part, areas that flood are overbuilt with a bunch of houses cramped into a small area where water doesn't have anywhere else to go.
