Yes, the Ravenscraig one did end up with a winch and blade fitted. It spent it's forestry working life in Snowdonia until June 06 when it changed hands to it's present owner.

Yes you could be right, it was about 89/90. This was the Benson Group factory who were the main importers for Valmet tractors in the early days. The red County was a last effort to rekindle the 1184 which unfortunately failed.

The Benson Group were also the importers for Valmet at that time

Is it possible to find out exactly if it was 89 or 90? The 89 one went to British Steel, Ravenscraig. The 90 one went to a LaFarge sand quarry in Kent. They are both at the same place now in South west UK.

When was it taken this vid? What are all Valmet tractors doing there? And the red/white/black 1184 (at 02:33)whats that? Unusual cab! Thanks for sharing this video!

This video must have been taken in Feb 89, or Jan 90. There was only two SuperQ top 1884s and according to the date codes on these tractors they were built then.

@RenzeZielman yeah, the red countys were like Forestmachines says, the bendson groups attempt to modernise county, all they really did was change some of the cab interior, and changed to the colour to the bensons groups livery, saves money, but sadly, wasnt enough, very rare red countys!! prefer the blue ones myself tho :P

The red county was still ford based, much the same as the old one actually it was just a pretty poor attempt at modernising the old 1184. County did a lot of 4WD conversions of the Transit. I think Telecom and british gas etc. used a lot of them. Not many left now though.

The film was taken in 89 so I guess it must have been the Ravenscraig one. Did one of them not end up in forestry with a winch on the back. What a waste in hindsight
