Tasmania's Parks and Wildlife Service is set to impose a new $15 fee for the shuttle bus at Cradle Mountain.
The $15 charge will come into effect on Wednesday, leaving many people up in arms over the popular tourist spot.
The free bus service was introduced in 2003 to transport people from the information centre all the way to Dove Lake via a steep and dangerous road.
All holiday-goers over 18 years old will be required to pay the fee with no discount supplied for pensioners.
Tasmania Shadow Parks and Environment Minister Sarah Lovell has blasted the decision as she remains concerned for the thousands of locals who use the spot for daily exercise and recreation.
