Hello, I love the look of that battery ! The only thing holding me back of making a lifepo4 battery DIY was to have to pack it in a wood case, wich doesn't look really good to me. Where did you found that metallic case ?!

Great to see a battery like this of usable size. So many people build small batteries

That's how I wired mine up with final 48V connection points on the outer terminals in stead of the center. I like it farther apart.

Great video! It'd be very useful to post a link to the site where one could get the case. If you would not mind sharing?

Thanks for the great and detail build. Few questions. 1) Why are you using Daly BMS instead of JK BMS? I thought an active BMS would be a lot better for such a build. 2) I didn't notice a fuse in the build. Which fuse are you using? Thanks!

Hi, thank you for taking time to share with us non experts, your videos are very informative and useful, can i ask please what switch /circuit breaker you used to be able to safely switch off the battery pack ? Kind regards.

Good video. It's not about the time but resistance. I think BMS scans and measures the voltage with really low current flowing so the length of the lead doesn't matter. What you think guys. Am I correct?
@ericklein5097 Жыл бұрын
I know the JK BMS throws a fit if any of your balance leads have high resistance but I think the threshold is quite high. Its to prevent loose connections. The resistance theory could lend some credibility to high amperage balancers....but 80ma is nothing. Now 5A or 10A...yeah the small wire gauge they use for those (about 18AWG) would create serious voltage drop.

I enjoy your videos - it would be nice to see some thermal images on how the battery pack perform under load. Thinking of the FlirOne or Seek cameras solutions. Weak links would light up - its a nice tool to further improve the quality of the battery pack.

Thanks for the suggestion! We did some temp tests on another battery recently, which you can see here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5DMpJyLqtamjZY But we didn't get round to doing it on this big 48v battery sadly.

I like what I see. Problem is you dont explain the BMS connection thoroughly. I have a Daly 48V 250A 16S Smart BMS. I have connected sample leads correctly, I think. They test good with multi meter. So, B- connects to main negative, thats clear. P- connection is less clear. I have 250 amp breaker as well. Do I connect P- with breaker in line to postive on battery?
@offgrid_power Жыл бұрын
The P- goes to your negative bus bar that you connect the negative lines from your chargers & loads. You SHOULD NOT connect the P- to positive on your battery otherwise you create a dead short. Here is a video that we made that covers the battery build in more detail: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y4vblHqZap6AbJIsi=4wHVPwTeWm-BUS9l

2 things I would do different, 1, drill and tap busbars for balance leads, it's away cleaner looking 2, use different bms, not daly

I do enjoy watching your videos and have gained knowledge of batteries and BMS topics that other channels haven’t gone into much detail about, or made me pay attention and think; I want to understand this, it’s important to know how this fits into the bigger picture so I make the right choices for my own or others use case.

With that said. While I understand the very cold weather conditions where you record can be difficult as it is. Please, when editing, mute the audio of coughs and throat clearing whenever possible, especially in the first few minutes. This is something I think would help to keep new viewers watching your videos and subscribe for more 👍
