I live in Portugal and got my ECO-G (petrol/LPG hybrid) a month ago and, with actual, real world consumption, have worked out that it's an annual saving of exactly £1000 from the petrol version. Also, I had no problem getting up a 6500 foot mountain with seven people (and a picnic) at normal speed, with no overheating and only a slight increase in fuel consumption. Also, because it only cost £18,000, and it's only 999cc, I pay 350 quid per annum for fully comprehensive insurance! Since I work for a living, the verdict is: Drives great, loads of space, all the gadgets and saves me money... why would you NOT buy a Dacia Jogger?!?

Actually, the second row is attached to bar that theoretically CAN be removed, albeit by undoing two large bolts (rather than pulling little red toggles). It's probably a bit of a chore, but if you exceptionally need a huge (but not flat) bed for an extra large load...

I think its worth mentioning though that the 110 tce is a 3 cylinder 1 litre engine that also has a turbo to worry about whereas the hybrid has a 1.6 naturally aspirated 4 cylinder engine which some may prefer. Granted you have a more complicated hybrid setup which may come with its own set of challenges but i personally would take it over the other one especially considering the weight you will have to carry around with 7 people in the car.

My Ford Galaxy begs to differ. I looked at one of these recently. They’re tight in the back in comparison. Definitely a nice car but nowhere near the same level of space. On top of that the back seats having to be taken out and not folding flat is a pain. Can’t fit three booster seats across the back either so unless your kids are 11 years old or more it’s not going to work whereas a Galaxy can. I completely get they’re different prices but I’d take a second hand Galaxy over the jogger currently

@murphyebass7837 Right. I went to look at one and they’ve really messed up by not having adjustable middle row like all Renault MPVs have. My teenager couldn’t fit without his knees pressed against the front seats. They’ve made what are essentially meant to be “occasional” third row seats MORE roomy than the middle row and that makes no sense because more often than not you need the boot. Would have bought one were it not for this. As for hybrid, Toyota are masters of hybrid tech - genuine 60mpg average across driving types vs 45 for this.

It's not £3k for marginally better performance and economy though. It you factor in the cost of an automatic transmission, which is at least a £1.5 - £2k option for most manufacturers, the actual cost of the hybrid system is much more reasonable. I really like my 110tce Jogger, but would have definitely gone for this if it was available when I ordered last year

Same here. I got my Jogger in 2022 not long after it was launched. I find the 1.0 quite fun to drive, however I came from a long line of Toyotas, many of which were hybrid and I'd have definitely picked the hybrid if it was an option to me, but I don't feel like I'm missing out a lot by having the 1.0. I think I would recommend the hybrid to people who are buying the Jogger to own. The smaller standard engine has proven itself in many a test to be incredibly capable even with an overladen car (past the official weight limit), however being a small turbo 3-cylinder dragging a larger car around there are concerns about long term reliability in comparison to an older fashion NA 4-cylinder. However, if you are looking for an affordable lease/pcp and you won't be owning the car for more than, say, 4 years then it's not as much a concern.

It does make me chuckle when people suggest that small 3 cylinder turbo engines don't have proven reliability. 3 cylinders have been around for 80 years and turbos in the mainstream since the 1980's. There are good and bad designs of any engineer type, but if properly maintained there's no reason to suggest these smaller engines are generally any less reliable

Dacia had done a good job with their jogger. However, I think they shouldve added a diesel engine for a car that people might be using to carry loads of heavy weight and people. Also, I think they probably should've made this an estate car, with the same 1.5 turbo diesel you got in the Duster SUV, and made it more smaller and lower to the ground. That probably wouldve been a whole lot better, because not everyone needs a 7 seater.

I just wish that they'd add more battery capacity if they went for the trouble of adding the hybrid system with (for some reason) both the electric motor near the engine, and the independent one. I think that the fuel economy would be even better. And the ultimate variant could have been an PHEV, as that could be much cheaper to run in the long term. To me, it makes sense to have something as practical and cost-saving as PHEV system on a car that is pratical and cost-saving
@DavidMulderOne

Really makes me wonder how much more it would've cost to make it a PHEV. I am at the moment pretty happy without a car, but the Dacia Jogger looked as the perfect car to buy down the line, not realizing that 'full hybrid' meant it wasn't "really" a hybrid (I naively thought all hybrid could do at least a tiny amount of slower driving purely off of the electric motor, with a battery charged at home). I’m in Belgium, which isn’t known for its relief, and it’s still annoying when coming down from the ardennes. This is all from a Clio V hybrid. Same car with a TCe 130 had the same MPG figures, was more enjoyable to drive (less whine from the powerplant), felt much snappier, and didn’t freewheel after two minutes of hill descent!!! Getting this hybrid system is such a regret: only get it if it’s a PHEV (like the Arkana).

The middle seats rolled forward isn't anywhere near as practical as a van and no good for those of us who really need a flat floor for, for eg, transporting dogs or even occasionally sleeping in. Just a shame there aren't enough affordable, reliable petrol vans around, which is why I'm looking at cars like this. Flat, fold down into the floor rear seats and I might have been won over.

But LPG is £1 per litre now. Short while back it was £0.75p. Petrol is about £1.48 a litre. Not such a huge saving with LPG in the UK as it once was. Especially when you lose efficiency on LPG compared to petrol

I bought a new Jogger Extreme 1.0tce in 2022 and it's been nothing but problems. The engine is far too stressed for that type of vehicle. Although I can see the appeal of cheap motoring, there's cheap and cheerful and then there's cheap because it's cheap. Dacia's are good cars. My Jogger was hugely practical, but regular dealer visits, blown up flywheels and months waiting for parts is not fun. I bought new to avoid that type of thing. I swapped to a 1 year old, AWD, mild hybrid Suzuki Vitara SZ5 for £18500 and it's been excellent. The Suzuki IS cheap and cheerful and it actually feels like it's designed to last.

Just got back from Holiday in the USA and made me realise how dumb the UK is for not buying MPVs rather than SUVs. The Jogger is more MPV than Estate, which is a very good thing IMO. Probably the last MPV on sale in the UK? Unless you count the very ugly van based ones. Well done Dacia for marketing something different at a very reasonable price

I cannot understand why Skoda, for example, can put a 1,5l turbo with proper 150hp in the smaller models and still keep them cheap enough and Dacia is trying to jump through so many hoops to get a 'meh' result.

Because Dacia is using engines developed and provided by Renault and it only gets entry level engines which you will see on base level Clio and Captur. Simply put, Dacia doesn't have a choice here.

Better performance? I'm sure while that battery has power it is but what happens when its flat? 1.2kWh isn't exactly large so its not going to put out much power for long (presuming all the battery is usable and happens to start full I make that around 35 seconds - as we know thats unlikely to be the case so its more to get a 0-60 than anything else) and then you're left with a n/a 1.6 with a wheezy 93hp pulling a heavier car through a 4 speed slushbox. Mid 40's mpg when its only got one or two people in it aswell? How does that go when its asked to carry seven - most of the reason for buying it over other similarly priced cars? This thing is screaming for the 1.5dci and has been since launch.

I heard stories of Renault/Dacia hybrid batteries overheating on the highway here in Slovakia and the car then completely stops. It can only be fixed by towing to the dealership (or mechanic that has the equipment) where the code must be reset. I would stick to normal petrol version which are known to be reliable.

@hman72y
@hman72y Жыл бұрын
Seems you did not read the spec of the hybrid system 😅 The two lower gear are handled fully with the electric motor (up to 50km/h or more) Then the ice is use to move the car above those speed in conjonction with the electric motor. So no need to have the two lower gear on the ice and the available 4 gears are like on a 6 gears box
@lavrentievv
@lavrentievv Жыл бұрын
@@hman72y it's not a big enough battery to handle all driving up to 50kph all the time. No no should have less than 6 gears, especially automatics. Could easily have first as electric mode and still 6 others. Makes motorway cruising efficient.
@hman72y
@hman72y Жыл бұрын
@@lavrentievv not all the time, I agree but when the battery is low the ice engine will be started and used as a power generator. Having more speed is still an issue when you want to keep the motor compact as the electric motor is in-line with the gear box. If the motor was not transversale it will be possible but then the front will be longer 🤔 it a game of compromise

For 5k difference the hybrid isn't worth it I think. You save about 3 liters per 100 kilometers. If you drive about 10k per year you would have to drive for 11 years to just get even. If the price of the hybrid was about 25k it would make sense.
