Spoilers (?) --- 0:00 to 0:17 the mood feels hazy and unstructured, like the beginning of the game(s) where everything is hazy and the classmates don't know what's going on. 0:17 We get rhythm and structure from the piano, which I feel like is Kaede. She and Shuichi are beginning to explore this unknown area and get their footing across. 0:36 we get the same melody at 0:17. However, what makes the 2nd time different is at 0:45 to 0:54, the notes are going up, whereas at 0:32 the notes go down the 1st time. To me, this signifies hope. Kaede is giving Shuichi hope to go on. 0:53 to 1:09 feel like time signature changes, which strengthens the feeling of uncertainty, but the 2 notes going up at 1:09 remind me of Kaede giving Shuichi hope, like holding his hand and saying "we can get through this together." 1:10 to 1:47 melody repeats 1:48 to 2:04 the melody is missing this time, the piano (Kaede). Maybe this is Kaede's no point of return, knowing she'll be executed for killing someone. 2:05 to 2:16 However the melody returns, perhaps to be strong for Shuichi. 2:16 to 2:23 Kaede is giving Shuichi one last hope 2:23 to 2:40 the melody sounds weak and timid, like Shuichi is trying to move on without Kaede At 2:40, the key changes. The melody and rhythm is still the same, but it feels more resolute, like Shuichi gaining his confidence. 3:00 to 3:17 return to beginning beginning 3:17 I hear both Shuichi's and Kaede's voices now (piano and lower humming). While Kaede might be gone, her spirit lives on in Shuichi, which is why the piano sounds so strong. 3:54 Piano melody returns. It's the same, but it sounds weaker now, maybe because Shuichi's (determined) voice is missing).

There's something overall much more melancholy about V3's OST that really appeals to me. And (BIG *SPOILERS* FOR THE ENDING/FINAL CHAPTERS OF THE GAME) considering Saihara's character journey leads him from being someone who is _terrified_ to reveal the truth, for fear of causing more tragedy with each and every lie he uncovers - to someone who can still seek the truth while not crushing _gentle/noble lies_ (and also still acknowledging his and the others' false memories having their own value regardless of how "real/true" they are) that just makes the title of this track hit harder to me. Those innocuous days of social activity before tragedy befalls them again, as they interact based solely on the personalities they've been given. It's _all a lie_ - as the mastermind would tell them, but it's also a *Beautiful* Lie.
