Everyone should read Lara Parker’s book about Angelique. Tells quite a back story, and also tells of how she was betrayed by Barnabas when they were young. Her passion for Barnabas was driven by betrayal, and as he learned too late, he really did love her, just not like she would have wanted. Angelique’s Descent is the name of the book.

Drink your sherry, witch! Put us all out of our misery! EGAD! Angelique gave her sherry to Mother! There's enough poison in there to kill an elephant! Then, when we see Barnabas stab the bed, I'm like, "Come on stupid! Check the bed before you try to kill Angelique!" Barnabas is slow! He's slowly finding out all the evil Angelique has done! She says she loves him, but we all know that she loves no one but herself! The costumes and scenes are magnificent! This must have been a very well done program. Barnabas should've known that Angelique was no fool. When she smelled the spilled glass, she smelled the poison. She knew he'd try to kill her again. This show was very well written. The storyline about Barnabas and Angelique totally piques a person's interest. Keeps you watching. I just wished they had made the bat that was watching Barnabas more real. LOL

Angelique was pure evil from the earlier episodes. When she caught up with Barnabas in 1897 she saved Barnabas from total destruction by removing the Vampire curse from him when Edward Collins wanted him destroyed after uncovering his secret. Angelique removed the curse from him again in 1840 when Gerard Stiles was going to stake him at the Old House and was surprised to see Barnabas in the Drawing room at 2 p.m. in the afternoon.

Now, Barnabas knows all about what evils Angelique had done. Barnabas tries to kill her but can't because of her strong powers. No matter how Barnabas hates her, she still loves him for her SELFISH reasons. Then Angelique sends a bat to watch over & spy on him whilst he plans to see his true lover Josette. Too bad that Barnabas can't hide from Angelique because she tracks him wherever he's at. Barnabas always keep insists to Millicent that he must see Josette.

The actress (Joan Bennett) that played his mother was actually 14 years older than Barnabas (Jonathan Frid) in real life. I'd say she was barely old enough to play his mother. It's very frowned upon these days (and for good reason), but it used to be quite common for 14 year old girls to have children.
