Barnabas is very interested in meeting Quentin of 1879 to learn more about what his ghost was possessing the children in 1969. All of this while everyone tries to find out "the secret" from Grandmother Edith.

I used to watch this when it was on the air, but don't recall this episode. Quentin was REALLY a monster.

@@ethelhoose1196 If you think Barnabas and Quentin are bad wait until you see Gerard Stiles and then later on Judah Zachary.

@@bruce8808Gerard and Zachary made Petofi look almost harmless. G/Z terrified me as a 11 year old. 😂😂

Spoiler Alert: I have about 12 favorite moments in DS history. One of them was when Edith surprises Barnabas with the news the HE is the secret. When I first saw this episode way back in the 60s I almost fell off my chair. Outstanding writing on this show...always.

It was brilliant writing.

And it made sense that they would have passed down "The Secret" and that the information would have been lost by the 1960s...

RIP the Great Joan Bennett!! Her screen test for the role of Scarlett O'Hara is available on KZbin. Had Vivien Leigh not shown up to fulfill her legendary role, Joan Bennett should have been the one!

That must be an original John Henry Belter 1860s vintage rococo revival sofa. They weren't making replicas yet when this show was filmed. It's worth as much as a new car in today's money.

I love Isabella Hoopes as the 1897 version of Edith Collins.

She was great. A memorable role for just a few days on the air.

Quentin was rather evil back then. But I guess his ghost was evil so it makes sense.

Wow, how was this filmed? Live studio audience? because I can hear coughing in the background. Edit: 9:27 Edit: "I came down here to tell you... COUGH" Heard a few times throughout.

No live studio audience.
@melodiefrances38985 ай бұрын
But it was filmed in one take, with no chance for editing. Hence all the bloopers.
