I mainly hate the new weapons system. I was a warpike main and had a bunch of pikes upgraded and even had the legendary ones minus the frost one. Theres now only 3 war pikes in the game. All my builds were elemental for each slot and had a war pike to match. Im now essentially being forced to use a weapon im shit with or i hate.

Honestly this update was a swing and a miss, removing most of the existing weapons and crafting system literally makes no sense and just kills a core part of the game, there was zero reason for them to remove 80% of the existing weapons, remove lanterns, and restrict our customization when it came to builds.

They fr went from like 90 weapons to like 18 then made buildinf 10x more annoying, latency/servers feel worse, the stamina nerf is painful for axe, weapon buffs dont stay when switching weapons, you lose cells rebuilding, and nothing with actual fighting behemoths changed. L update lowkey

Gams was obtained by a blockchain company they dropped developers and decided removing content this much was a good idea. Almost all my friends quit, and every time I go into hunts there is either just me or one other player. The mods for discord and reddit are paid off to try give a reason to enjoy the game. The people who actually back the game are part of the problem of modern gaming and why companies can get away with anything and act like there is no consequences. But hey I'll still play the game till I start running into no one in the game anymore because it is dying rn.

There is no "pay for weapon". you pay for a hunt pass and get a weapon unlocked early if you do. The weapon will be available later for free for everyone that does not want to get the pass. The other weapons are attainable from weapon tokens that you also can get for free. Old weapons being removed feel like not a big deal to me since we barely played more than maybe 12 of them anyway.

They gave non-new players a generous amount of time to meet a simple requirement to be able to get 500 weapon tokens. IMUO new players should have something to work towards vs getting everything too easily, that would be a slap in the face for people who have been playing for half a decade. I doubt meta is gonna be found for a bit so I think it's not as important to talk about meta being locked behind hunt pass yet, HOWEVER old f2p players like myself have free elite hunt pass due to farming platinum (for at least a 4-5 hunt passes [a lot of time] ) so I think it's fair to have access to elite hunt pass compared to new f2p. I don't like weapon coins tho, it does feel money grubby, same with bounty coins being hard to get yet vital for maxing hunt pass.

All "old" weapons except the exotics have been removed from the game as playable weapons. This was shared by the Devs earlier this year. You now get weapons by completing the main questline and also bought in the weapon shop.

Yes for sure, you finally get what a lot of aren't getting, the mechanics of the game is different and the builds that we have been use aren't as effective anymore but there are builds now that are much stronger, they just have to drop the "old game" mindset. Happy you gave it a chance.

(long as* comment but bear with me for a sec) I love this game and the art style with the ideas but as a F2P vet i gotta say i feel like out of all the updates, this ones mess up the system just a little to much. if you farmed for plat you still have it and the skill tree mainly got new stuff. They made some changes to the weopns to make them more unique but that's about it for the good things. The monster move sets have been getting nerfed (less attacks or just messing up the move kit in general.) for a bit even before the update but the dmg some of them do is higher than it probably should be (especially Escal's with a terra's nerf and frost/light escal one taps.) which has been ruining the difficulty. Weapon and armor cells have effectably been nerfed ruining both meta dmg builds (which i didn't like anyway) and everything other than dmg builds. This is bad because cells were a core part of the game and now unless you min/max ur cells they don't work. Hunting grounds somehow loss variety and doesn't allow you to pick what behemoth you wanted to hunt but rather a smaller pool of behemoths of the same element. Items have been nerfed (don't even understand why they did this) as you can only have two now (health pots don't count) There is more but ima leave off with this, out of all the things they shoulda done, they should have focus on behemoths more imo.

Long as* reply, but bare with me 😁. I appreciate your feedback and I myself i somewhat of a F2P player but I do buy things to help support the game. Personally I think the update makes things better, slayers have been way overpowered for a long time making behemoth fights feeling trivial and unsatisfactory. All weapons in a category played the exact same way with the exception of exotics and got boring really fast. Most of the maps that were removed only had Lesser Behemoths which only served as practice for new players really. I hear you on the tonics and I do understand that we were use to having these but change is always necessary but not always easy. I would say give it some time, we need time to adjust. As it relates to getting 1-tapped, you have to make sure you have a build at the level to do the islands and most importantly, ensure your armor is leveled up and you have talents in your weapons. You will feel that things get way easier then.

Yes tokens are a little scarce but they gave us more than enough time to be get the 500. New players can either buy the hunt pass like most of us usefully do or save up tokens for a couple weeks. They still get 1 of each weapon type from the quest for free.

The 3 pf us have tried playing the update. Have concerns about it becoming pay to play. Personally don't like the update and what they destroyed. We either kept getting kicked from the game, screen lock, or something else. One of us had around 10 kick out within 2 hours. Unless this game improves on stability its DOA for us. Each one has a quest to unlock them but if you had them before, you can just add them in your build by equipping them to your lantern core spot tot he right of the tonics.

Most "old" weapons have been removed as playable weapons, they are just transmogs now. There are new weapons and they are all unique now. Weapons are no longer crafted, just follow your main quest line and circle back if you have questions after.

Nah honestly I still have basically everything as a free to play player... Except my will to say "it is what it is," this update is honestly worst than Frost Escal, can't even have PURP cells anymore (tier 3 cells) and all my builds are ruined due to lack of cell customization. The only saving grace is that they didn't take the platinum I farmed from free hunt passes.

Tbh i went being excited to try out the update to absolutely enraged to what happen to my inventory. All the things i grinded forever turned to a garbage armor that i had to grind its parts again JUST TO LEVEL IT UP! all though its a good feature, ITS NOT GOOD WHEN IT ONLY PROTECTS YOU BY 2 DEFENSE! And i feel very weak when im fighting behemoths i just get 1 shotted dozens of time I still dont understand anything about the new features completly. I miss the old dauntless now :/

If you try to jump right into fighting without first trying to level your armor and weapons as well as put any kind of ok build together then you will be frustrated. Try to see what armor pieces you have that have good perks and use those to start as well as equipping cells and don't forget to add talents to your weapons.

I would suggest going to the training ground to practice the moves of each of the weapons. Weapon token is a currency used to buy some of the new weapons. You can get them from completing quests and challenges

requiring steel marks and crests might be one of the most disgusting things they have done to progression in this game. I can somewhat accept the cell change and how they are one time use, and how weapons are obtained through a battle pass rather than crafted and how builds feel clunky and how the servers are super laggy and how the game runs like a slide show on ps5 and current gen consols and how there are so many bugs. All these changes are 100% fine, but gatekeeping weapon upgrades behind steel marks and crests is so godam dumb. Like good luck getting crests for most players out there, there isnt a great way to join groups. And good luck making any progress with steel marks. You only gain a little amount each week if you do trials and thats it. You can get like 2 weapon upgrades a week nice! I am out of steel marks so I legit cant upgrade any of my weapons anymore. GOT TO WAIT UNTIL NEXT WEEK! WOW GOOD CHANGE GUYS! Unless im missing somthing, and there is some magical way to get steel marks outside of the limited amount from trials, but as it stands, upgrading weapons is completely fuuuuuuuuuked. edit: also what is the new end game loop? Cool they removed reforging but what is the loop now once your weapons are upgraded. Whats the point or progression afterwards? I do not see the replacement for the removal of reforging. How does someone express their main weapon class now? Also you can now buy weapon xp from the store for real money which is crazy to me. Like before you could onyl buy bounty tokens which wasnt directly buying xp, now they just said fk that lets just staight up sell weapon xp in the shop now!!! Idk I really tried to give the new update a shot, played the game for almost 500 hours before the update on and off since the early patrol days. They did some cool changes here, but they did so many poor changes that are game ruining in my eyes. Also good luck getting crests to make weapon progression? Barely anyone plays this game and there is no queue for gaunlet. You need to actually find a pre made that is good enough and plays at the same time as you, if you do not, no weapon progression. If I underastand correctly even if you get a solid pre made and can 100% gaunlet, you only get 4 crests per season if you reach lvl 20, you need 8 to max out a weapon and 16 to max 2 weapons to make a full build. That would take you 4 entire seasons to achieve that??? Also if you complete normal trials 100% and get every possible reward from it, it will take about 16 weeks to get enough steel marks to make a build with two weapons maxed out. That is insane???

To be fair they gave us ample time to prepare for this update, I was able to get all the trial marks, get my reforges in since they gave us a full week of double xp before they update. Got all my armor crafted and power surged as well as surged my weapons so i could get the full 500 FREE weapon tokens to buy the new weapons. So many people complaining about changes that were announced to be coming like it was a surprise. Failing to plan ahead is not the devs fault it's ours. The weapon in the hunt pass will be available to purchase in a future season with the free weapon tokens. You don't have to buy the hunt pass to get it but if you hand FOMO then that's also not the dev's fault. Again I do agree with you that a players we would like things to be more seamless but with game launches we sometimes have lots of bugs that will need to get fixed after launch.

@ I mean I still don’t think it justifies needing all those steel marks and crests to upgrade weapons. Forcing time gated currency and currency behind guild content is just awful and game ruining design. I had to spend hours trying to find a guild and haven’t found one yet. Filling out online google docs as applications. Putting in more work than finding a job just to join a guild in this dead game. I likely will never be able to max out a single weapon. It might take me over a year to fully upgrade a single weapon which is crazy. I think your argument that you could have farmed steel marks a year in advance is just flawed and I strongly disagree. Also the game just feels miserable to play. Hunting grounds in unplayable. Everything at my current level one shots me, even fauna does half my hp with a single hit and the hunting grounds that are easier are too low level and don’t give xp. Weapon leveling is also awful.

they shouldnt have taken out the weapon crafting, having different types of weapon is a must, not able to craft them and only buy them by weapon token is shank, like u get one weapon a season, last season i was grinding for weapons and armors, crafsting some purple cells, all of that gone, since I only got 100 weapon token, Weapon Crafting is a must in any RPG game

All weapon types are still in the game however some weapon playstyles have changed so you will have to get use to that.

All "old" weapons except the exotics have been removed from the game as playable weapons. This was shared by the Devs earlier this year. You now get weapons by completing the main questline and also bought in the weapon shop.

What Swifty means by "earlier this year" is, they spent all year telling us how they were going to add weapon switching. Then, _only just shortly before_ the major 'update', released that they'd be taking all your stuff. I was watching the promos a few months ago. Nothing about that to be found. These heavily subsidized channels have to promote the game or list their income stream. So he can't say it like it is. He can't be honest that they just deleted a bunch of your stuff, so they could make the game heavy paywall.

The first time it was mentioned that old weapons would no longer be viable in this update was January of this year. That was later confirmed that they will be removed this summer. I don't know how everyone is suddenly surprised by this.

@@swift_n_deadly If i am wrong, I am wrong. But I watched several months of promos, discussions, and playtesters reviewing the upcoming content. Not one mentioned they'd delete all your interesting weapons and shrink it down to 6 or 9 paid weapons. and if you look at the most common comments, MOST OF THE PLAYER BASE DIDN'T EITHER. What seems odd to me is that you don't mention or seem blind to the obvious major shift to pay to have fun vs f2p and that these aspects overlap. Can you say it here and now? "They got greedy, excessively ramped up the grind, and removed your stuff to encourage you to buy progress"

@andrewstambaugh240 i have all but 3 of the new weapons and i have not spent a single cent to get them, so I don't see the pay to win logic. The devs told us how to prepare months ago and I just followed that. I got my reforges done, got my gear power surged and saved my cell cores. That allowed my to get the weapons free on the game's reset. Correction, i did buy a hunt pass but that's something I've always done with every season so if we consider that then I did spend money or in this case platinum that I already got for free from previous hunt passes.

Worst rebuild to date for sure. Adding the second wpn & swap feature was quite overdue and past the projected timeframe but the overhaul and extreme limiting of customizable "builds" from the evolved legacy system into a full retooling and revocation of the core playerbase hard earned (purchased!) inventory items to rebalance or "adjust" fundamental mechanics while, unfortunately, selling out to the busted Unreal Engine 5 has proven to be rather disastrous and essentially insulting to faithfully supportive clients thus far. Imo which is the only one that matters of course 😂 App crashes more than Ark for crying out loud. It's worse than the first Valomyr update back in the day was by far rn. Phoenix Labs better scramble in a panic and issue apology items or else they just created their biggest an most damaging blackout ever. You can steal from clients on Epic and Steam all day but not on Sony. There will be recourse. Btw, check in-game "Store/Weapons"-tab, scroll to bottom for hotfix #1: Free Aether Crystals per W/D/H refresh rn. Luck to my OG's

Man reading the comments is making me depressed. I like the update. The weapons feel more unique now. Instead of grinding for a new weapon that has a different passive which is usually just buffs now each weapon has its own abilities. Im sure there will be more weapons down the line this is just what they were able to do for now. But by the looks of it the players dont like this and would rather make the game die

Its not just some players its most of the playerbase. I mean half there complaints are just false. Shit like "theres way less builds now" acting like the builds were so special before. Builds went from " wow look at me stacking defense " or "wow look at me stacking speed" to literally summoning a hord of raptors or creating turrets. It baffles me that people who put thousands of hours in this game hate it so much that 1 change they dont like sends them off the edge to never playing again no matter what​@swift_n_deadly

That's not false complaints, summoning a raptor is gated behind a weapon, hunters can't even have anything close to a build without the equivalent of DBD add-on's now. Seriously you have to coping to think any change means a 'Good' change. If you've seen gameplay from when shock Escal first came out and compare it to now, the difference in the player bases perspective of this game is baffling.

How is building more similar to dbd addons now then before? Cells used to literally just be dbd add ons now there more like slap on buffs. And abilites and skills have always been gated to weapons outside of lanterns which are gone sadly and lantern cores which are still in the game and still work the same.
