Reactive, not proactive. Always been this way. The staffing shortage is an issue. They hire anyone with a pulse now. Used to be a lot different. Corrections since 1993... Yep, inmate communications. Never worked a day in a uniform. Over half the administration hasn't. THAT is an issue. There is only ONE way to fix the issues and that is keep pay on par with what it used to be 20 years ago. She didn't mention the 10 year pay freeze or the amount of overtime that she is requesting be cut down. Make the people you have WANT to come to work. Not have to volunteer overtime on Christmas and get hurt. Plain and simple.

I agree. There are lot of officers that are there just for a pay check. Lot of them sleep while working overtime. Especially on 3rd shift. Supervisors can write them up, but there are no consequences when they do.

Safety Protocols definitely need to be reviewed. Misconduct by BOTH Inmates and Officers need to be looked at as well.

Inmates are in a line and watched when going to the chow hall how did he not get seen when he left the chow line and went to the shack in a different location?

when i started working in corrections 17 years ago, me and another officer had an area that we worked, we had 200 inmates both men and women. And it was just the two of us guarding them. We carried a necklace if we needed help we pushed the button on the necklace, and help would come, Would take them about 5-7 min. to come though, we also had radios.
