My 791 has been a work horse for me. But one disappointment with it was that since day 1, the chuck was not straight. I came to find this is a common issue. @nanogaming79492 жыл бұрын
My 791 does the same thing, chuck appears to be off center on the spindle. The issue on mine is slight and doesn't really get in the way of things. I've used 5 other models from Dewalt at some point and none have had this problem.

Love that DEWALT is going for slightly more compact while squeezing a lot more power into the tools. I’ve had the DCD996 for years, never felt the lack of power but I did feel the weight and it was too much of a tool for small tasks.
@realworldtoolreviews2 жыл бұрын
I agree with you. I have the 996 too and I love it. It has all the power, but I have always wanted an 18 volt that was smaller. I might have to pick this new dewalt up.
@pflaffik2 жыл бұрын
But then we have Flex, more power in same size means more heat to dissipate in the same size, and then cooling time was a thing. It’s like the old days when projectors were getting smaller and smaller, pretty soon the less serious brands had tiny projectors that wasn’t practically useable. Higher voltage can help a little due to lower losses but that’s not the case with this drill.

Nice conparison, that new Dewalt looks great. I will almost certainly get one when I need a new drill--not for a while, I like my Metabo HPT compact 18v hammer drill and my 791, and they still have fairly low mileage. With a 6ah 21700 cell battery or bigger the 800 would have run that Irwin self-feed bit right through the 2x (I know, that runs contrary the purpose of DeWalt's new compact power strategy, but still).

Would you recommend the Flex for a DIYER?
@PhillyFixed Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't recommend Flex as a tool platform for DIY'ers. It's overkill and overpriced for work around the house. My top choice for DIY is probably Kobalt. Plenty of tools in the lineup, frequent sales at Lowe's, and made by the same parent company as Flex (Chervon). All brushless tools, they don't make brushed stuff. The XTR hammer drill is good. Ryobi isn't a bad choice either, but for core tools that will get used the most, stick to the HP brushless line, don't get the cheaper brushed tools. Third choice would be the DeWalt Atomic line for a DIY'er.

Well, this is not a new video, but I have recently gotten a DCD800 and it's doing something very strange. When I pull the trigger and then let off, it makes a sound like gears slamming together. This especially happens on high speed. Then, when this slamming occurs, the drill stops so suddenly, from high speed, that the chuck is thrown open and your bit falls out. I immediately returned the first unit to Amazon for a replacement. 2nd unit did the same thing. Sent that one in for warranty repair. Got it back - still does the same thing. Am sending it for warranty repair again. They say it is just a "braking function" and that I am just not tightening the chuck enough. Nonsense!

👎👎👎Flex! 👍👍👍DeWalt Hey. Yo. Jim. Ha ha @ the Flex with a ‘2P’ 5.0 Ah battery, getting shown up by a smaller drill with a lower Ah battery. I bet that new DCD800 would go through on the big bit, with the 6.0 Ah 21700 battery?!? Might be material for future video? ‘You can thank me later!’ 😁😂 Good all around test, even with the different battery capacities. I know you made a disclaimer, I’m just sayin... Happy Easter to you and yours! He is Risen! 🙏🙏🙏👍✌🏻🇺🇸👋

The flex did not belong... 1) bigger battery and 2) the tool itself seemed HUGE compare to the 800 and 708

It's the same class of drill. The 1.7aH Powerstack has similar output (output, not capacity) to a 5aH 18650 pack.

Dewalt's versions of drills are getting ridiculous
@PhillyFixed2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, they have entirely too many models in each category. It's probably because they're catering to both Lowe's and HD and so they make specific lines/models that only one or the other carries.

Surely you have to take into account the force you are putting on the drills , makes this test useless

What do you think this is, Torque Test Channel? 😅

Those torque measurements make no sense and clearly not correct.

That is what i hate about dewalt too. They put a U.S.A sticker on some of their tools. And they go by NW. And most of us dont know what is that!!! you claim you are U.S.A dewalt but you can not do A.H. that is like sayng im from U.S.A. but i dont talk english. NO GOOD DEWALT. STOP TAKING PEOPLE FOR FOOLS!!😁🇺🇲🇵🇷😁

Bud u have to use the battery it came with. Milwaukee didn't come with an h.o battery and dewalt didn't come with a power stack. Come on man!
@PhillyFixed2 жыл бұрын
Lowe's sells this drill with a Powerstack, 2aH or 5aH. Home Depot sells it with a 2aH, 4ah, or 5aH. Flex sells their drill with a 2.5 and a 5. The Milwaukee comes with a 2aH but that's a huge step down compared to a Powerstack. Can't please everybody.

I'm so glad that dewalts newer tools are having a more blocked style design for the tools instead of the rounded puny little tools! Dewalt just keeps out doing themselves
