True, ever since they added the minis every one started buying them. like I own a maverick 3 pro, and my brother owns a mini 4 pro. In the drone industry there are 4 groups of consumers the first group would be cheap 40$ crappy drones for example a drone from temu or something the second group would usually spend 300$-1,200$ these are the people with the a drone that has a good amount of quality for example DJI mini 3 or the one you reviewed, DJI avata 2 then group three which is what group I’m in group three are people spending 1,500 -10,000$ consumers in this group most likely have a DJI product like a maverick or a air 3 then group four is the people spending 10s of thousands of dollars the consumers are usually companies or farms the agras t50 and fly cart 30 are great examples.

I am first category, In india, these drones become just double their price and become unaffordable at all costs! I own a M3 Max toy drone which nobody on This planet knows! 2hrs charge time 20 minutes flying time. 3MP camera That's how we 50 dollar people stay happy and see their 50 dollar drone as a DJI Mavic 3 Pro. But that's not the end( at least my)! I will do hardwork and get a good job and will buy all the DRONES THAT ARE MADE FOR ME!

Something everyone fails to mention is that the motion controller allows you to use your head as the "gimbal". Meaning you can drift sideways by turning your head to the right, or look up / down by looking up / down physically. This can make it way smoother in flights than manually fiddling with the gimbal angle mid-maneuvers. As for saying its mostly a toy, entirely depends on your creativity. You can NOT fly a mini 4 / air 3 / mavic very close to the ground or obstacles (or people). With an Avata (or custom cinewhoop) you can. It opens up jobs you otherwise could NOT take, such as filming skateboarders, snowboarders, motorcyclists, track day racing, super low-ground shots in forest cover, throughflys of yachts or businesses or car showrooms. So to just handwave it as a toy is really not accurate at all. 95% of all jobs you get dont need Inspire quality footage. They just need 4k 10bit footage and they are over the moon satisfied. Even for broadcast ad reels etc. Its a toy if you dont imagine how it can be used professionally.

A lot of true points there, especially about the head tracking with the motion controller/goggles combo. I’m personally not a fan of the twisting my head every which way while trying to focus on getting smooth shots, but it seems some people out there (such as yourself) like it and I’ll acknowledge that it is a very unique control experience. As for my opinion calling it a “toy” - I 100% agree that people can do some VERY creative things with it that would otherwise not be possible with any other DJI drone, however it does seem that in general the majority of people I have met who had Avata 2s were using them mostly for fun “real life video game” recreation. Appreciate your insightful comment though!

The only reason i'm seriously consider buying a FPV drone is probably because of the googles, man that thing looks freaking cool like what you see in the cyberpunk genre.

Hey so im planning on buying it do I need to buy extra charging cables because you have to charge the battery and the goggles and the controller and in the video it only showed one cable

So it really depends on how many other USB-C charging cables you have lying around. The included one is best used to charge the batteries (since it’s USB-C to USB-C it can charge at up to 60W charging rates if you have a wall adapter also rated as such) but any spare USB-A to USB-C cables can be used to charge the goggles and other accessories as they don’t really benefit from fast charging. But if you don’t have any spare USB-C cables lying around, then the answer is yes you will need to pickup at least one if you want to speed up your charging process. Also, probably would recommend a wall charging adapter like this ( amzn.to/3SULJ95) if you don’t already have one like it. It’ll let you charge everything at once.

Yup. It kinda has to share a compartment with the motion controller but they fit together nicely and they’re both plastic so I don’t worry about them scratching or damaging each other.

You don’t actually need your phone to fly the Avata 2. However, yes the DJI Fly app for Android is available to download from DJI’s website which will enable you to wirelessly connect your phone to the goggles to show others a live view of what you’re seeing as well being able to connect to the drone to transfer videos to your device.

It depends. I wouldn’t recommend it for taking photos/videos of the outside but it could work for fly through tours if you spend the time to get good on the controls.

Its evident you dont know much about drones and describing a £1500 piece of kit as a toy is insane, so much better than the Avata 1, upgraded camera, not top heavy and doesnt scream in flight. Comparing with the mini is a joke..2 completely different uses, one is a FPV, the other is not.😂😂😂

Wikipedia says a toy is “an object that is used primarily to provide entertainment” and from talking to many people who owned the Avata 2 and flying it a bunch myself - it was the only drone of the two I would ever consider flying for entertainment (idk about you but flying a Mini 4 Pro is frankly quite boring).

This is an FPV drone and like a tv or vr headset, is visual entertainment yes, but neither are toys....I think this trrm is demeaning to others that are interested in FPV drones...surely your channel should support this hobby, not demean it?

I’m sorry you feel like the word toy is demeaning to you and your hobby. I drive RC cars and play video games and have no problem with either being labeled as toys. The goal of my channel is to help creative people save money and make better informed purchases. When a multimillion dollar company like DJI advertises the Avata 2 as a creative tool - I have to call a spade a spade (as I see it) and let people know what my opinion is. I saw too many people online looking between the Avata 2 and M4P, unsure which to buy to take aerial videos and photos with and of the two: the M4P clearly is superior. If my channel was dedicated to FPV (like the many other great channels on here that focus on just that) I would be all over the Mini 4 Pro as a slow, fragile, flying brick which illicitly no joy in the pilot. So yes, they are very different drones. But if asked which does a better job of doing what the other does, I’d still stand with my point that for a beginner looking to get a taste of both a cinema and FPV drone - the M4P does a better job. Appreciate you taking the time to leave your feedback and I’ll try to keep it in mind for my future videos. Though you also must understand that for every video I post here (no matter what I do) I’m never going to be able to make everyone happy. Anyways, have a great day and fly safe!
