3:17 turns out you don't need to hit so many times. You just have to wait until clops has thrown both ice shards on their back. Then you can hit once with a fire staff to stun them.

Hmm, I vaguely remember reading that some of the developers regretted adding the mechanic where hounds and penguins come back to life on moon islands and that it didn't fit their idea of the lore. Well, whether or not that was false info or the developers changed their minds It's really cool to see them continue that idea.

Actually, now that I think about it, the hounds and penguins come back as weird zombie things and the bosses in this update so far are reanimated by Gestalts so I guess they might be taking the lore in a seperate direction. The deerclops especially looks like it's being puppeteered by the Gestalt.

When the zombie hounds were first added I remember some people crying on the forums that they were too scary and klei actually changed them and made them less scary. Maybe that's what you remember.

They didn't do more at the time because the artstyle they went with was a lot more 'body horror' than the living combined with minerals like they seem to be going with now.

I am so HYPED for the new bosses. They all look so cool and seem fun to fight (minus the Possessed Varg). Can't wait to see the possessed Koalaphant and Moslings later in the update. Only issue is that in a real game, I have to fight Crab King. *sigh*

There is a setting to enable rifts on day 1, it's makes a way more spicy early game

@@minegagadoli Willow is very good for this. I always do early rifts when I play her. Bernie + blue flame (or actually honestly, just an early ornery beef) make deadly brightshades pretty easy to handle and transitions well into an early AFW fight. Willow with a bright shade helm, sword, bernie AND bone armor is a pretty nasty combo.

The new endgame items may be really terrible in terms of what effort it takes to craft them for the things they offer, but this Lunar/Horror themed new endgame, they can take it to places, that I think is really good, it will just become better with time, I hope that there's gonna be an anti hail machine or tool so your grass gekko and other animals don't just die all the time.

Yeah, while I still don't think this is enough to convince me to activate the rifts and deal with all their stuff, I'm liking where this is going. Likewise the hail does worry me a little. Putting up umbrallas around all the animal pens could get expensive to maintain, while building under above average trees is very limiting, when the alternative is just not activating the rifts.

Ok, so the moon reanimates surface giants. And bosses in the ruins are already posessed(or created) by shadows. But I know one particular unerground boss that doesn't fall into that category and totally can be converted. Miserier misery toadstool when?

Is it just me or does it seem that ever since they made nightmare werepig, Klei has gotten VERY good at making fun and engaging bosses? Like most bosses in don't starve are either disappointingly simple or full of seemingly unfair mechanics that almost always require exploits and cheese to overcome, but all of the very recent bosses such as armored Bearger have all these combos and moves that flow into each other depending on the current circumstances. This all makes me very hopeful for all the bosses that get added to this game from now on

Can you burn the corpses of the normal bosses, so that they don't get haunted by the gestalts? I know one can do this with hounds and their horror form. Would be handy for players who activated the rifts via settings.

I can confirm this. Burning the corpses makes the gestalt flee and destroys the corpse after about 15 seconds.

You know I always thought it would be a good idea, but unless the make the W.A.R.B.I.S armor a little cheaper I think it definitely should happen now. Celestial Champion should drop several enlightened shards, before I thought that would just be convenient for using them in mushroom lights, but with the recipe for the W.A.R.B.I.S armor requiring them now you are going to have to kill the Celestial Champion at least twice if you don't want to sacrifice your enlightened crown

I think if you want to have a long-running world, it's kinda expected that you'll kill CC multiple times. The shards are almost essential for mushlights/glowcaps as well. I recently did 5 fights back to back in my solo world.

Quick correction, they dont get "infected". Because what gets possessed is already a corpse. When they are stunned the ghastalt temporarily losses control over the corpse.

Random question because this might be the best place to get an answer: on my server we killed Champion but didn't give Wagstaff the crystal. The wiki says he will spawn somewhere in the world "later" so we can give it to him again... but several game years have gone by, and we haven't seen him again. Should we keep waiting? Or do we have to kill CC again (or turn it on in world settings) to compensate for what seems to be a bug??

It's not a bug. A similar thing happened to me as well, where I wasn't able to find the shard before he disappeared and had to wait over 2 entire seasons until he actually appeared again. He just refuses to show up for long periods of time for some reason. You can't really miss him either because when he does appear again in the world, he'll have the giant machine he used to harvest the lunar energy from celestial champion right next to him. I think he also won't appear next to the celestial champion again if you kill him a second time as he's already harvested the energy from him, but I could be wrong.

@@omarsongaming3255 While I don't know the details of him appearing elsewhere in the world, as someone that recently killed CC a bunch of times in a row but specifically avoided activating the rifts, he appears every time after the fight waiting for you. Made the whole process longer as you can't tell him to go shove it, haha.

Yes you can set the lunar rift to "always" instead of "default" and it will be active without having to fight champ.
