I'm all for more Shin content! He's one of the characters that got pushed to the back real hard in Super despite how relevant other divine beings are. Kid Goku isn't that big of a deal to me, it wasn't one of the many issues I had with GT, I get that Goku needs to be the main character so if this is how they make it work for Magic, I'm not opposed.

Like the characters themselves are helping Toyotaro create the series while Toriyama here is literally embodying all of 18 so that he will always know that same spirit and will always remember everything about her. You’re not wrong, most dragon ball fans will get their kids into it anyway (I certainly have) and if the content is too childish it tends not to stand the test of time, all it does is appeal to smaller audience for short term gain of toy sales. …Having said that, Dragon ball survives off of merchandise sales ALONE when there’s no anime content so that just goes to show how much money it COULD make.

It might have to happen. If the characters from the new show are gonna be returning characters. Then the only way to give them context would be to tell their story somehow. A good way they can do it however is by placing Magic Several Arcs after the events of where the manga is currently so it has a chance to create a few more arcs and then cover Magic while the anime is catching up. Or to have it occur, just before Broly, After Broly, During The Pre Super Hero Arc, The 8 Months Leading to Super Hero, During The Month Beerus Was Asleep and or Just After Super Hero BUT The Manga going out of its way to make a Time Skip.

@@AstraFulminous I agree with your point but I have a counter suggestion as to how they do it. Shueisha bring out a separate manga, specifically “Dragon Ball Magic” and have another mangaka handle it. For instance, Naho Ōishi who did Episode of Bardock etc. she may have time for it as I believe her only other current work is Dragon Ball SD which was in Saikyo Jump, (magazine aimed at younger kids) which obviously Magic is aimed at - & Dragon Ball SD has only had 5 entries since December 2010 …so I assume she has so availability! 😂

I think they are gonna knock it out of the park. When you try something a second or third time around you start to learn cooler ways you can do it. The same applies here. Magic is coming both after DB, Z, GT, The Movies and Super itself experience wise

Thx for the great video Kanji. I'm looking forward for DB Magic. GT is usually accused of having great ideas and bad execution. But this is a different series so maybe the execution of this idea will be great. And they say it's a short series so it looks like Goku will remain a kid for only one arc instead of several like GT. Which will be a positive for most of the fans of course. I didn't hate Goku being a kid for the first arc in GT since I assumed it had something to do with Pan being embarrassed of her grandpa. I thought they would give her a character arc where throughout the space adventure, she would eventually start not caring about her grandpa being a kid and instead loving him like before not matter the age of his body. This is what I thought at least. Sadly Pan wasn't handled well in GT. They just made her annoying all the time and she would always cause trouble and would have to get saved by Trunks and Goku. I thought she would eventually change with something like a gradual character arc. But that didn't happen. In the original manga she was supposed to be the only one of Goku's descendants who was like him and liked training and fighting. Gohan was interested in academia while Goten was interested in dates. She is mini Goku and she is Goku's granddaughter. Which is why I think she should be handled well. Remember Goku's only family during his childhood was grandpa Gohan. & Goku is the grandpa. The relationship between Goku & Pan should be handled well for the sake of the story and characters. As for the supreme Kai shin, I'm ok with him being one of the two leading characters in this adventure. Most fans think he's lame but maybe that's the reason he was picked? maybe the sidekick role in this adventure needed someone like him. And of course he is the supreme Kai so demons should hate him. So that might be the actual reason he's in this adventure. Either way it's his chance to redeem himself and improve his image among the fans lol. Goku being a kid and going on an adventure reminds me of the first arc of Dragon Ball. and next year is the 40th anniversary so maybe this is just a celebratory anime? I'm all for it tbh. But I have a feeling the adventure in Magic wont be like the first arc of Dragon Ball with it's "Toriyama toilet humor" and gags. Which is kind of sad since I like comedy including DB's comedy. It's probably going to be more similar to GT's style of adventure. Which felt more Ghibli-like I guess. I'm guessing it wont be an action oriented anime and it will be more an adventure oriented anime. and I'm all for it 😁 Also I just remembered this. Maybe Goku can't turn into an adult again because the Dragon Balls were used that year already so he would have to wait until next year. But instead of waiting he decides he will get that demon himself since that will be presented as an option. Or maybe Shenron just can't counter strong demon magic effectively? Anyway I'm just saying Magic might take place during the same year as Super Hero. Or maybe it's something like a different timeline. an extra fun arc/adventure. akin to the fun "filler" DBZ movies.

I understand, hopefully though should this come out it’ll possibly restore some faith - I think the biggest issue is the fact, we have very little other people to trust/turn to - so should people feel distrust towards some leakers it then ends up turning to sheer & utter disappointment in them, because Toei are just so bad at updating fans with what’s going on. So we rely on leakers as much as we get upset when they get things wrong or things change since they were informed

I think it’ll happen eventually, but more likely to tie in with an anniversary of Dragon Ball, (could be next year, if not maybe announced at least) - but I think a lot of things need to align for it to come back, Shueisha has to green light Toei to be able to cover the manga arcs, Toei has to decide to just go in their own direction & ignore the Moro & Granolah arcs. A TV slot also needs to arise, so lots of things need to fall into place first sadly!

Well currently Shueisha won’t let Toei cover the manga content in anime form, so Toei has been forced to make anime content outside of the manga’s direction & continuity, (which is a dangerous game if They’re hoping it’ll all line up together in the end.) but yeah, hopefully they’ll treat Super with similar care when it returns in future!

That's my best guess. But it might be a typo and the actual order should've been "Dra...". and that would make sense because you can use the word "Dragon". So maybe that enemy would be a Dragon like Syn/Omega Shenron or something like that.

my theory is that the demon who turns Goku & Supreme Kai into kids wasn't going after Goku. He was going after the Supreme Kai but Goku happened to be chilling with Supreme Kai. So the spell/curse/Magic that was cast by the demon, was cast on both the Supreme Kai and Goku. Goku just happened to be there. I say this because apparently in the video games and the general lore, demons and the Supreme Kais are sort of antithesis to each others and are enemies. Demons even have their own supreme Kais in games/lore(?). Remember how in the original manga the first demon we saw was Dabura? and he was an enemy of the Kais? I'm guessing this is the reason it's the Supreme Kai.

Well, it depends how you rationalise it. OG fans aren’t typical western DBZ fans, these are the fans of ALL of dragon ball, fans of DB (pre DBZ) etc. and in Japan, “OG DB” was aired on kids channels. DB was aired on kids TV channels in the west AFTER the commercial success of DBZ. So, it isn’t contradictory for the most part. It’s only contradictory if you’re a DBZ fan but not an Original DB fan. There isn’t a lot of swearing in dragon ball for the most part, the Japanese equivalent of these words is usually tame. But we can choose to translate those words to mean “harsher” things in our language. Which is why many fansubs used a lot coarser language than the official subs.

@@WKKanjiNeedsCoffee of course you have some fair points but still we westerners didn't add the blood it was removed DB and anime as a whole has been toned down moving into the west but only when aired on kids channels I grew up on Japanese imports before they were dubbed they were only toned down for kids channels unlike Sci-Fi channel channel 4 or even adult swim (in the UK) they couldn't even say damn you that had to be changed to darn you lol it's literally when they hit western kids TV channels that they were toned down I even remember some of them lowering the FPS in recent years when they were doing re runs of Kai and changing the blood to spit or removing it completely

Japan didn’t make those changes, and Dragon Ball Magic is being aimed at Hardcore Dragon Ball Fans in Japan, and children in Japan - they don’t care much what the west think these days as they’re noticing that we prefer things to remain the way they create them, so they’re making less of their own changes in order to appeal to the west as they know we like it the way they make it these days. Where as back in the day when DBZ aired in the west, the West felt the need to doctor everything, adding music all the time - adapting the scripts, editing the blood to being black etc. to fit our TV standards for kids at the time. So yeah, the stuff you say isn’t wrong but it’s not really indicative of the Japanese audience’s feelings, and more so what a group of the western fans think. I myself, love classic Dragon Ball - it’s funny whilst also full of fights etc. and I can imagine if done correctly it will manage to meet both of the audiences they’re hoping it will!

Unlikely to happen in such a way, because DBS returning is based on Shueisha allowing Toei to cover their manga content, and if it returns without the manga content - then Toei will likely wait for a TV spot before anything else. A lot needs to align for Super to return.
