Built one to visualize it for an rpg, but without gravitic drives it probably won't be able to slow down enough to land. Leave a crater, yes; land, not likely. But, it was built to carry armor & other vehicles, not troops.

@@HAXRLITSXY which opens you up to multiple passes over the aa fields. The concept of the dropship is a fast insertion ship. You come in hot and, once you're under the defensive weapons, do a 'hard burn' to avoid becoming a crater. I wish that space engineers would just let the servers decide what they wanted to allow.

I like Venom's design as a light dropship. This one can be its somewhat bigger cousin as an intermediate dropship/assault gunship. That leaves a third design for a heavy dropship meant for hauling heavy equipment.

Venom’s dropship design I feel has been a key part of Jacks series and RWI faction for as long as I remember. I wouldn’t want to see a ship we all love get replaced completely, so I would have to agree you.

Normally, the pilot will is in the upper seat and the gunner in the lower seat in similar gunships.

The front gun reminds me of pelican-1 from helldivers, when it lands its gun can remove some enemies to help you board the ship quicker

one way to slow down in a ship like this one is to do a turn and burn... in other words spin 180 degrees and let those large thrusters slow you down... cant wait to see you use this in a series now..

I think Jack does make a good point, someone should be able to turn the large thrusters on and off at will.

I assume this took a lot of time to build a fan made replica of the Halo design Dropship Pelican from the halo 3 but there is one key difference to this Pelican, The Halo 3 DS-70A -Phoenix-Drop Ship has three landing Gears not two and the three-landing gear position are one in the front right behind the turret and two in the back on each side of the rear door

It would be a crime not to use this in your series Jack. Especially using that cannon. Can those be programmed to single barrel fire? Also for missiles, there was a mod i saw couple months back with some nice looking missiles that track targets decently that would fit in this aesthetic

Get/Make a carrier to be your flagship, and then either make all your destroyers and cruisers ai controlled or have your friends pilot them, and just make a carrier strike group
