01. Just starting off you know this class got NERFed a little but that's okay for balance. It was too OP 02. So we are still wild shaping into other creatures and using most of their stat blocks. 03. Bonus to AC with 13 + WIS or the creatures AC..........Great 04. Temp HP when your wild shape and you use your HP and don't get a extra HP pool..........This is great for balance also I'd rather wild shape into something and be able to stay in that form longer with the druids HP. I really like this change. 05. A list of spells you are able to cast while in wild shape form...........Fantastic I wonder if you have to have those spells prepared or if they are always in use when you Wild Shape 06. Wildshape can do normal or radiant damage..........okay get through damage resistance 07. ?free? bonus action teleport that grants advantage........okay that's great maybe need more info 08. Lunar Form - extra radiant damage and enhanced moon light step (BA teleport ability).

Nerfed a little? My man. Moon druid got shafted 3x druid lvl as temp HP is useless. Honestly a good fix for moon druid is giving your druid access to a set number of beasts that aren't super chunky. And the fact remains they only get 2 shapes in the old form. They also couldn't cast. So they were just chunky blocks of HP it was not that bad as people say it was. Except for elemental wildshape that stuff is OP as all hell

@Gio98art yeah, the elemental wild shape is what made it the most OP 20th level build. You basically couldn't kill it unless the DM was just pulling BS moves. I would say it got shafted. If you are comparing it to the 2014 version, then yes. But honestly, it's a more balanced subclass than it was in 2014.

Teleportation again? They really like this ability now. It was cool for archfey warlocks but it feels weird in moon Druid. It didn’t sound like moon Druid is about getting to be bigger, badder beasts and elementals anymore so I’m not sure how I feel

This "improvement" for replacing the creature hit points with "temperary hit points only" is actually a major downgrade to the Circle of the Moon Druid.

It was completely necessary to do this though. They upgraded beast AC options and gave a lot more wilshape uses. Moon druids were already broken at early levels. I'm not really that disappointed at that loss. It does fix other issues like getting Disintegrated down to 0 HP while wildshaped.

If these rules are anything like the final playtest was, I won't be touching new druid with a 10 foot pole. Edit: Just looked at the whole thing on D&D beyond, its a flat nerf on moon druid basically across the board compared to 5e; Worse health, its temporary HP so you can't heal it and then your stuck with your tiny druid health pool and basically can't function in melee. Limited forms you can change into, your forced into a 'known forms' list that severely limits your versatility and you can only swap *one* out per long rest. Your attacks deal radiant instead of just being magic so good luck if your fighting something resistant to it. Elemental forms and all their power and versatility are gone, replaced with a short range combat teleport. So pretty much a complete downgrade, no idea how this got the go ahead.

Not a nerf. I like the new moon druid better than the old one (and it was my favorite subclass across all classes). I am assuming new beast blocks at higher levels though, so there is good CR 3, 4 and 5 beasts.

There better be a new druid or wizard shapeshiting subclass coming that focuses on turning into elementals. That was why I liked playing a druid. I am VERY worried about spell changes now too (they better not have touched shapeshift or clone). This book is definitely a "wait and see before buying" for me. Thus far normal 5e did shapeshifting better, and Pathfinder does shapeshifting better than both. I just want to be a spellcaster that changes into monsters to fight.

Beast with CR superior to 1 and you have to prepare your animals ? The funiest thing a druid can do is randomly transform into something unexpected choosen at the last second, so I really don’t like these changes

I still think they should've stuck with pre-made stat blocks and let you use spells for invocation-like effects that tailor the form to specific usage. Elemental infusion, burrowing, etc. These options sound cool, but I feel like it's shifted more towards 'cast while shapeshifting' power, and not 'the full power of shapeshifting'

In the main class videos they hit a lot of the subclasses. I've been mainly watching those to get info on the subclasses. The druid is the exception, though, because they didn't talk about any of the subs at all. Go check the latter half of the rogue and lock main class videos for info about their subs.

Same. I understand people were like 'oh what does this have to do with the moon?' but like... it explicitly was just metaphorical lol, because the moon is everchanging and cycling every month. I think giving moon druid lunar themes as an option, among elemental stuff, is fine. I think they should go further and incorporate plant stuff too. I like that, say, in Pathfinder, a the Shapeshifting forms do expand to encompass more than just those two things.

Do not like the temp hp. I’m the tank in a group of squishy people so this temp hp is a huge nerf.

@@korbentherhino The temp hp is lower than the animals shape form. So you get less health overall in return for keeping your form. It's a hard nerf.

As a DM since 5e came out, moon druid's ability to have like 68 extra HP each short rest from 2nd level onward was always a big issue whenever anyone played a druid. Now moon druids will be more inline with other classes and overall be more flexible (spells in wild shape earlier) and be harder to hit (higher AC) and eventually deal more damage (bonus to wild shape damage at higher levels) than they did previously.

Here’s an example, current Moon Druid lv 3 can Wildshape into a brown bear with a HP of 34 and if they get knocked out they can Wildshape again so roughly 68 HP shield to use. New lv 3 Moon Druid will have roughly 10-12 HP depending on CON modifier, they Wildshape into the same brown bear and only get 9 temp HP. Yes you get to stay in Whildshape but you loose that padded HP to use your own HP causing your character greater risk.

It's a huge nerf to the moon druid's tankiness, and it's fully deserved. When I play a moon druid I'm literally never worried I'll even be knocked out unless I don't have a wildshape available, because at any given moment I get 50 hit points as a bonus action. Literally everything else is a buff. The new moon druid does a lot more damage with more utility and a higher AC.
