NEW DS Back in Time to 1795 - The Fate of Maude Browning

Trask returns to his house to find the body of Maude Browning on his bed! When Forbes goes to see Trask, Trask tries to cover up the body but Nathan sees it. Nathan says that he will get rid of the body if Trask takes a letter and personally delivers it to Millicent.

I love how Nathan is looking at Trask like he's nuts. Too funny. Also found it hilarious that Nathan thought Trask had a woman on the side. Then he discovered the lifeless body on the bed was Maude. Nathan now knows for certain that Barnabas is still in Collinsport. More leverage he can use against Joshua. He plans to win Millicent back by any means necessary. I don't think it was necessary for Barnabas to kill Maude, but his animal instincts have overruled what little humanity there is that's still left in him.

I think Joel Crothers must have relished the role of Lt. Forbes. It is much more interesting for an actor to play a villain than a victim.

🎶 Here comes that squeeky rubber bat again 🎶! Nathan has the upper hand on Trask now. Either cooperate with Nathan or Trask could go to jail which may be better than what is in store for him. But wait, even a jail wouldn't be safe enough if Barnabas can get to him. Poor Maude was killed for nothing. Noah has Barnabas's cane.

So Barnabas has powers like Angelique; to induce dreams and appear before others. Logic says that Angelique would try to prevent Barnabas from doing anything that would jeapordize Vicki’s conviction (like offing Trask). I remember questioning the same things when the show originally aired back in the 60s 🤔

Now that Barnabas is a supernatural creature himself, Angelique would have no powers over him to be able to stop him from anything he would wish to do (like killing Trask). She can, however, show up in human form to thwart him, such as she did when she showed up in court to cause Ben to freak out. (SPOILER ALERT) In actuality, Angelique really doesn't need to thwart Barnabas' plans for the reverend. Barnabas had Trask signed the confession declaring Vicki's innocence, but his disappearance afterwards casted doubt on the validity of it. Even though Trask's comeuppance was satisfying, Barnabas' killing Trask really did more harm than good for Vicki. Perhaps that's why Angelique made no attempt to intervene when it came time for the reverend's getting his 'richly deserved reward'.
