As you know, the Dying Light 2 grappling hook was nerfed in a recent patch, which has really affected its gameplay. Especially for the speedrunning community. From the first time I used the grappling hook I thought you should be able to climb up it. Aiden can do all this superhuman parkour, but he can't climb a rope. That's how grappling hooks are used lol.

I’ve known about this ever since I got the grappling hook. I had the glitch where I couldn’t upgrade my night runner tools so I couldn’t bungee jump like others could. This method can be annoying sometimes because if you’re climbing a building and you grapple to close to yourself it doesn’t hook on to the wall and you’ll fall. Besides that this is a great vid!

*Obviously* it depends on your stat bonuses but it should be mentioned “if you slow down a bit during the wall running portions you can regain a small amount of stamina letting you get a couple more wall climb’s in if you are a lower level.”

It's also better with the wall run jump skill which lets you run up a wall and then jump a little bit higher, then use the hook

I use the grappling hook like this since I first got it. I used it before upgrading it to help me get into the developer room this way.

I think needed to touch something in some form to recharge the restriction was a good plan, you can spin around an entire building by wall running and it adds a little more challenge to the mix. I probably still prefer climbing up there myself and using the grapple hook as an assist.

I legit didn’t even know there was another way until after the patch, and I only discovered that way by watching one of those level 1 noob vs level 100 god videos of grappling. The level 1 was this and the 100 was just a parkour montage.

Honestly I’ve learned this method ever since I climbed to the top of that giant bridge above the water in DL1 Wall run, grapple, repeat till it needs to recharge. I barely found out you could “web zip” like the day before it got patched. Lmao I miss feeling like Spider-Man though.

I’ve never experienced how the grappling hook was before the nerf because I just got the grappling hook yesterday, it doesn’t feel useless but it’s hard to use and I feel like bungee jumping a building instead would be more fun anyway

Honestly, I don't think they'll nerf this method - this is the way i've used the hook to scale buildings quickly since i got it and, to me at least, it really doesn't feel like an exploit or unintended use. I for sure could be wrong, but it 'feels' like an intended use gameplay-wise just because it flows very well - and it's (somewhat) more realistic by comparison

See everybody! The Grappling Hook isn't ruined, ya just gotta use it much more differently now. Besides, we've still got MUCH bigger fish to fry. Like the Sunken Airdrop & Korek Charm nerf. I've also heard that the Renegades got a pretty sizable increase in their damage too.

If you actually swing along the building.. reverse mid air (which is a double jump) .. and repeat... you get the same effect

@@emivideo1966 I also found out your Block is your Brake for your hangglider.. if you mess with it you can maneuver crazy.. like shoot straight up instead of forward..especially over air ducts... hold Block just as you open Glider, an shoot straight up... and you can also release ,press reverse, and open back up your Glider without losing height.. because your reverse jump acts like a double jump... like jumping off a balcony, and reverse jumping will get you to the level Above you! ..

Seriously though man, something that’s bugging me right now is how they changed the repair charm, I get it should cost something but theres no reason it should cost what it does currently. *dying light one* repair cost (one) scrap *dying light two* repair cost (six hundred sixty-six) scrap. That’s some serious down grading. I get ones “unlimited” and the other is only “3-5” repair but I’d either accept D1’s repair back or lowering the cost from “700” down to just 100 hundred.

Because in DL1 it was a built in feature, in DL2 it was a secret dev item. Still feel like they shouldn't have added the scrap cost because its a secret dev item, if they had just made it a post storyline only item that would've been a better middleground.
