This performance is still the shit! To sing on pitch & dance all at once is not an easy task at all. N.E. was so on point. Artists of that era didn't need any of the pyrotechnic B.S. like most of today's performers do. They just gave you pure showmanship.

Crucial is so criminally underrated... Ralph frickin killed it; the other guys nailed the choreography while they just let Ralph do his thing. This song highlights that he should have / could have been a bigger New Jack artist with a voice and presence like this. His first solo album was good but he had the potential to do so much better and then he went the wrong direction with his second album. Hurts to think about it sometimes.... :(

Awesome performance....This is how groups should be.I would love to see a NE/JE Heartbreak tour. Think about it you get NE, Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill, Ralph Tresvant and BBD plus Jagged Edge and they actually look up to NE as like the older brothers. That Concert would be crazy!

Thanks for sharing this clip. I was at the taping for this award show. My mom took me and my best friend. We were about 13 yrs old...one of the MANY screaming girls you hear in the audio. We were so excited!

I was only 19yrs old in 1989 when they came out with this song back home in 7th Ward St Bernard project ghetto in Nawlins aka New Orleans Louisiana and what a great memories from yesterday past 👍👍👍👍

1989 'Soul Train' music awards.....people thought that Bobby Brown's departure from NE and massive success of his 'Don't be cruel' album had eclipsed & overshadowed NE....that is until this performance...This performance put their 'NE Heartbreak' album on the map
