I have this unit since the beginning of this season and it is an excellent unit over the LM2102SP and Peak Power LM2142SP running with 2 x 12.0Ah batteries. The battery runtime rating is usually rated with bagging that has higher air flow and not the air restricted high blade resistant mulching cut. Few improvement during operation I found over the 21" mowers: - The mowing deck no longer rise & fall when the self propelled motor is activated. - The 91lb weight is evenly distributed over the enter lower aluminum deck so it is very grounded even compared with the LM2142SP with 2 x 12.0Ah at 71lb but top heavy - The front wheels no longer pop/lift up and cause on & off "mohawk" cuts when the bag is getting full while cutting - No flexing on the much stronger handle to avoid the "pole vault" sling effect to cause the front wheels to lift even when the bag is full - No flexing on the mower deck - Hardly ever have wheel lock up issue. Once or twice every month it has some resistance but not lock up. Compared to 10+ time of lock up every time I mow the lawn with 21" units - Rear side discharge is shooting to the left side which follows the flow of the blade and not opposite direction on the 21" units resulting every wide spray clippings shooting average of 5-6 feet away from the mower without often clogging the exit entrance on the 21" unit that shoots about 1 feet away in clumps around the rear wheels. - Deeper deck with much (~40%) more cutting area means higher amount of grass clipping are allowed to be mulched evenly and more frequently much like a dedicated commercial mulching mower - Larger front wheels really decrease feeling a lot of bumps and less stress to the hands & arms of the operator - Headlight position is higher to cover wider area in the dark - Bluetooth firmware update through smartphone is a great to get the "Super Turbo" blade speed and increasing the drive speed to 4 MPH - Drive shaft is now covered away from moisture so less likely to rust like the 21" units It is by far the most improved model for the residential lawn mower. I still wish they have a Peak Power unit for the residential owners so I don't have to got back to the garage to replace the battery like my Peak Power LM2142SP with 2 x 12.0Ah that provides ~190 min runtime.

The old model I own currently is the 21" composite with select cut, the mower didn't perform well with anything but the high lift blade. I tested it on my lawn, my neighbors lawns and I was also hired to move a field for a commercial property with about half an acre. It cut OK but only with the high lift blade, other blades were useless. The metal the blades are made of causes them to go dull very quickly, I can get maybe 3 cuts of a normal sized lawn without needing to sharpen. The composite deck handle mechanism had a sensor that wouldn't allow you to operate the blade without being fully extended, and that may be a problem for short people. I found the 'safety' switch in the handle to be unreliable, at times it wouldn't notice the handle was fully extended and locked in place. I've owned it for 3 years.

Both rear side discharge chute and the high lift lower blade are free from EGO to owners who register their purchase within 30 days of purchase. I own an Ego 10amp mower and a Honda GVC 170 self propelled mower. Both have their places in different situations. That said the Honda is very cheap to operate on a yearly bases(like a Toyota vehicle), mine is pretty darn quiet, and it clearly has much more power than the Ego, for tall or moist grass situations. And with the Honda, there is never 'range anxiety' issues, with a very expensive (replacement) battery needed periodically. If I had to choose I would hands down go with the Honda...but yes I can see situations where the Ego would be a better option (ie - elderly homeowners, lighter mower to maneuver, for small lots or want a slightly quieter mower so as not to disturb close neighbors in early am).

Very useful. The added weight is a very real concern for older people, and likely women who have to handle the added weight in awkward yards. Everything is a compromise. Also make sure that you register your LM2206sp on the EGO Connect Application- you will be able to increase the self propel up to 4 mph and also increase maximum turbo from 3100 to 3350. I contacted EGO support 3 different days to see if I got the same answer to a question. I was sent specs from EGO support at my request and the specs stated that the turbo mode on the 2206sp was actually only 3100 rpm. So I asked why their website states that it runs turbo mode at 3350 rpm. Consistently all three times I got the same answer from different EGO support reps, that the 3350 rpm can only be achieved if you are using the app. So I assume that the app allows you to increase from 3100 rpm to the 3350 rpm based on their answers. Do you have anything to add to this since you have tested the 2206sp. Is it true that the 3350 rpm is only achieved if the person using the mower uses the app to increase the rpm to 3350 from 3100 rpm? At the time I made these inquiries about 2 months ago or so to EGO support, the app had not even been released yet. So with that said, those who had the mower and not the completed app, they were not able to get the mower up to 3500 rpm.

A nice mower but overkill for my needs. An 86 pound electric mower with an aluminum deck that costs $1,200 USD seems more akin to a commercial grade mower than a consumer grade one. $500.00 replacement batteries seem a bit much too. Takes a large battery to push that 86 pound mower around let alone run the blade. The new upgraded 40V HP Ryobi mowers weigh 38 pounds, and very maneuverable. Mine will last 45 minutes entirely on self propel and has cut 12,000 square feet in a test run on one charge of a 6AH 40V HP battery. Typical usage for me gives me 3 15 minute mowing sessions on a single charge. Ryobi has solved the motor control board issues some were having last year as well. All for $399.00 out the door.

i used a top model ego last summer they are crap suck and are a lie battery mowers are the worst no lift

What exactly are they lying about?

I bought this exact mower in February. It lifts better than my Honda 217, cuts better and I'm getting multiple mows from a single charge. The mower is a beast.

@@duckdog2017 Exactly. I have a John Deere self-propel mower that bogs down on grass this mower eats with no problem.

These lawnmowers are pointless, we just aren’t there yet as regards battery life and power consumption. Too many people unconvinced between battery or gas powered appliances. I personally believe that gas powered tools or cars will still be around in a decade from now.
@fixitFlip6 ай бұрын
I disagree with "pointless." I think both gas and battery have their place. I use a 72" Exmark Gas Zero Turn to maintain 7 acres at work. But this mower is all somebody needs that has a small yard and doesn't want to fool with maintenance.

My lawn is only 5k sq ft. I have a gas mower. It doesn't make sense to me to use gas anymore with the added maintenance. Electric seems like a better choice for small lawns.
@JustaLamborghiniCountachWhoCom6 ай бұрын
Depends on the grass you mow. This grass was crazy long so the mower had to work extra hard and consume more battery life. Smaller yards like mine are perfect for this kind of mower. So I'd say it isn't completely pointless.

insanely expensive....1300 or 1400 dollars for this mower. Hard pass at that price point.
@Jeo-What2 ай бұрын
The way I look at it is: A 10.0Ah battery provides about the same runtime as a full tank of gas while costs 27X less per fill up/charge at current electric vs gas pump rate so after 5 years it should balance out, excluding all the time I needed to spend on driving to the gas station for the mower and the required regular maintenance costs for the next 5+ years. Gas mower is like leasing a car with extra interest rate that I got to keep on paying while the battery lawn mower is like buying a car out right with no string attached after taking it home. Different choices in life.
