In this video I will do an unboxing, review, and thorough testing of the new Ego model LM2206SP (with the battery and turbo charger). It is model LM2200SP as a tool only. I will go over all the specs and features of this new mower, and put it through a long grass torture test as well as a time test to see how long the battery lasts in mulching mode. This mower comes with a 56 volt 10.0 amp hour battery and a 700 watt turbo charger. I will put it to the test and demonstrate the torque of this most powerful Ego mower yet. This mower has the select cut multi-blade system. It is the 56 Volt EGO POWER+ 22" Aluminum Select Cut Self-Propelled Lawn Mower with 11.1 foot-pounds of torque.

Got my 1st EGO last week, WOW, Love it so far, took a minute to get to the self drive, but so far I’m impressed, and my shoulder feels better, not having to pull start that gas mower. Also got a trimmer and blower. Great video, didn’t know aluminum was an option. I’m impressed with the high grass cut, and no clumps, nice job EGO.

The old model I own currently is the 21" composite with select cut, the mower didn't perform well with anything but the high lift blade. I tested it on my lawn, my neighbors lawns and I was also hired to move a field for a commercial property with about half an acre. It cut OK but only with the high lift blade, other blades were useless. The metal the blades are made of causes them to go dull very quickly, I can get maybe 3 cuts of a normal sized lawn without needing to sharpen. The composite deck handle mechanism had a sensor that wouldn't allow you to operate the blade without being fully extended, and that may be a problem for short people. I found the 'safety' switch in the handle to be unreliable, at times it wouldn't notice the handle was fully extended and locked in place. I've owned it for 3 years.

I was excited to see what Ego had to offer this year. I was happy to see the aluminum deck. I can almost overlook the green colors ( The commercial one is a little better), but it still sounds like a Barbie jeep. Probably the most annoying sound I can think of. Not just for the operator, but the neighbors. Maybe next year they will figure the drive motor sound... I would also want a snow blower on the same battery platform. I will need to make sure the sound of that is not annoying also.

I bought one a couple weeks ago and absolutely love it! Its not perfect and there is a few flaws but they didnt bother me enough to return it.The cut is amazing! There is some gear whine but when i mow i mow at slower speeds and i never hear it. I mow at like the second slowest speed. Not trying to mow my lawn at 5mph lol. There was an adjustment getting used to the self propelled system. Someone else mentioned that when you let off and try to turn it get get a bit wonky. I learned that you to give a sec to full disengage and all will be fine. Other then that its beast and definitely a keeper. Never had any issues with any of my ego products over the past 4 years.

Debating this mower in the aluminum or polycarbonate deck or the commercial version the LMX5300SP. However, the LMX5300SP is a single blade and typically single blades cut like crap vs 2. I have a very thick lawn, 12k sq ft of KBG grass, huge oak and maple leaves that drop basketball sized leaves in the fall. I use my current Honda HRX 217HYA 200cc with hydrostatic transmission and have zero issues it cuts like a dream. I also use it to vacuum/bag trimmed yews, hydrangeas, etc., after pruning. However, I'm getting older and like the appeal of electric. My concerns are as follows: 1) Will this mower leave clumps, lines, and trails of grass while mowing 2) I've read reviews that this will not pick up/vacuum leaves very well even with the high lift blades installed (doesn't come with the mower, apparently) 3) Debating on getting two 12ah batteries, buying mower by itself or the 10ah battery and charger combo and one additional 12ah battery as I want to be sure I can finish my tasks, I'd prefer fast dual battery charger if they make one 4) Most importantly, I've read where Ego customer service is a joke, and if your mower stops working, you're helpless and essentially have a very expensive paper weight due to no local dealer support I think with earbuds and hearing protection on the loud as hell whining from the brushed self-propel drive system can be overlooked 🤔 I'd appreciate any and all feedback or suggestions 😄

@shanew7361 with 12k sq ft, I'd consider a ZTR or something. As far as customer service with ego I've never had an issue that needed to be addressed so I couldn't tell you. The fast charger is a must and a game charger. I've had the old poly carbonate deck and now the aluminum deck and I assure you the aluminum has much better suction. It's a beefy mower and will have zero issue sucking up leaves. I mow my lawn at turbo speed at all times and imo it's crazy powerful to handle anything you'll throw at it.

I own an Ego 10amp mower and a Honda GVC 170 self propelled mower. Both have their places in different situations. That said the Honda is very cheap to operate on a yearly bases(like a Toyota vehicle), mine is pretty darn quiet, and it clearly has much more power than the Ego, for tall or moist grass situations. And with the Honda, there is never 'range anxiety' issues, with a very expensive (replacement) battery needed periodically. If I had to choose I would hands down go with the Honda...but yes I can see situations where the Ego would be a better option (ie - elderly homeowners, lighter mower to maneuver, for small lots or want a slightly quieter mower so as not to disturb close neighbors in early am).

I contacted EGO support 3 different days to see if I got the same answer to a question. I was sent specs from EGO support at my request and the specs stated that the turbo mode on the 2206sp was actually only 3100 rpm. So I asked why their website states that it runs turbo mode at 3350 rpm. Consistently all three times I got the same answer from different EGO support reps, that the 3350 rpm can only be achieved if you are using the app. So I assume that the app allows you to increase from 3100 rpm to the 3350 rpm based on their answers. Do you have anything to add to this since you have tested the 2206sp. Is it true that the 3350 rpm is only achieved if the person using the mower uses the app to increase the rpm to 3350 from 3100 rpm? At the time I made these inquiries about 2 months ago or so to EGO support, the app had not even been released yet. So with that said, those who had the mower and not the completed app, they were not able to get the mower up to 3500 rpm.

A nice mower but overkill for my needs. An 86 pound electric mower with an aluminum deck that costs $1,200 USD seems more akin to a commercial grade mower than a consumer grade one. $500.00 replacement batteries seem a bit much too. Takes a large battery to push that 86 pound mower around let alone run the blade. The new upgraded 40V HP Ryobi mowers weigh 38 pounds, and very maneuverable. Mine will last 45 minutes entirely on self propel and has cut 12,000 square feet in a test run on one charge of a 6AH 40V HP battery. Typical usage for me gives me 3 15 minute mowing sessions on a single charge. Ryobi has solved the motor control board issues some were having last year as well. All for $399.00 out the door.

I did not experience that with this mower. The Speed IQ model, YES. It was a pain to try and pull back and maneuver. This one’s a lot smoother. There is a slight delay when you push the self propel button to when it actually goes, but once u get the hang of it it’s smooth sailing.

Regarding the rpm question I had submitted to you 9 days ago. Your reply was “Wow, yes I can. When I do a review, I typically read the entire manual to make sure I cover everything I possibly can about a mower, and I definitely did not read that anywhere.” I haven’t received a response from your youtube. Have you received information from EGO regarding this since they told me three times that you could only achieve 3100 rpm if you did not use the app. Here is the table of information they sent me 3 times on 3 different days I called and spoke to different EGO support people. Residential LM2200SP RPM 1 2650 2 2850 Turbo 3100 This was in late Feb that EGO relayed this message to me. So I wonder what app they are talking about? The app was not ready to be distributed by them when they talked to me, so I assume they were talking about just the normal app that tracks mower usage, battery charging, etc. Can you also ask and get more information in regards to what app they were talking about, and when that app will be available?

I have a few trees and my EGO has never done a great job of picking up the debris left over from fall and winter. I rake the leaves but lots of leaves and things get buried down in the thatch. My gas mower isn’t perfect but does a much better job of sucking that stuff up. When the day comes that I need to replace my EGO, at the moment I’m not sold enough on it to not go back to gas.

often less than 5 seasons if you mow up to 2 times a week ....I have found. So I still keep my Ego as a used one is worth almost nothing (just like a used EV vehicle)..but use it less than my Honda self propelled mower. It's about 65% cost of a new Ego...it requires very little maintenance yearly, uses very little gas....and I think will last me 10 yrs if I wanted to keep it that long. And the newer(3yrs old or newer) are actually pretty quiet as they have great muffler.

There are 5 year reviews with old mowers still working and using the original battery. It was very dirty and clearly used often. Just like cars, it depends on the quality level you're willing to pay for. Don't expect the cheap electric mower to last long just like you shouldn't with the cheap gas mower. Since you don't need gas, oil, spark plugs, filter, winterizer, and more with an electric mower, I wonder if over time the gas mower costs more than a battery. Electricity is typically cheaper than gas too.

@@fixitFlip Debating this mower in the aluminum or polycarbonate deck or the commercial version the LMX5300SP. My concerns are as follows: 1) Will this mower leave clumps, lines, and trails of grass while mowing 2) I've read reviews that this will not pick up/vacuum leaves very well even with the high lift blades installed (doesn't come with the mower, apparently) 3) Debating on getting two 12ah batteries, buying mower by itself or the 10ah battery and charger combo and one additional 12ah battery as I want to be sure I can finish my tasks, I'd prefer fast dual battery charger if they make one 4) Most importantly, I've read where Ego customer service is a joke, and if your mower stops working, you're helpless and essentially have a very expensive paper weight due to no local dealer support I think with earbuds and ear protection the loud ass whine is no biggie. I'd appreciate any and all feedback or suggestions 🤔
