Good video that really help me to understand how to use the blades. Always sing the extended battery blades, I now understand why I was not getting the quality cut I was seeking. Like you I should be using the mulching blade as my "go to" blades.

Can't the Mulching blade be used with the bag? I want to bag leaf clippings for compost bins etc.

Yep, it definitely can.

I bag my front lawn, but remove the bag and insert a plastic piece to mulch the back. Would I need to change the blades to accomplish the same thing? If so, that is a definite deal breaker.
@fixitFlip Жыл бұрын
You can definitely bag with the mulching blade on. It will just be a little more effective and efficient. with the high lift blade on. I personally never really take my mulching blade off!
@terryjones83607 ай бұрын
I mulch part of my lawn and bag a small part close to the pool. With most mowers, I just attach the bag. But on this mower, I have to stop and change blades every time I want to mulch then again to bag???
@fixitFlip7 ай бұрын
You do not have to change the blades. In your situation, I would just stick with the mulching blade and throw the bag on there. It will just mulch the clippings up before throwing them in the bag. Nothing hurt. The high lift blade may be slightly more effective if you want to bag for an extended period of time. I don't switch blades every time I switch cutting modes.

My ego came with one blade. Can I add another blade to it or is it a specific mower model that it needs to be to use 2 blades?
@fixitFlip5 ай бұрын
Only the "select cut" models have 2 blades. I would think only those models would have enough power from the electric motor to turn both blades.

Just put the high lift blade on and it makes a grind sound on start up for less than a second. Doesn't do it with the mulching blade. I saw a post online about it with a video. Do you know what causes this?
@fixitFlip6 ай бұрын
Honestly, I do not know. I would say more strain on the mower, but typically mulching blades are heavier and put more strain on the motor, so that shouldn't be it.

I have the top model of the self propelled mower, and the only issue I have with it is it's inability to cut St Augustine grass properly. By that, I mean that there are always many blades that don't get cut at all and I have to go back over the area to get them. I use the mulching blade, as that is what you're supposed to use with St Augustine, and it just doesn't have the suction, or lift, required to do a really thorough job. I've tried using the bagging blade because it's supposed to have much more lift, but it just doesn't, at least not with St Augustine. I'm happy overall with the mower, but that is an issue I wish didn't exist. Also, not to be a jerk, but this video would have been much better if you had a nicer lawn. It's really hard to tell what's been cut because it's half dirt and half weeds.

Yeah, I filmed it later in the year on the bottom of my hill when it was kind of baked out. Here's an example of me cutting the front yard with the new aluminum EGO, where I actually take care of my grass: kzbin.info6rmm0g8KRd0

@heatheldridge712710 күн бұрын
For example, I will always use a bag. The other egos (and all other brands) have a bag. What's the difference?
@fixitFlip10 күн бұрын
@ I typically just use the mulching blade all the time. Last year's model only came with the mulching blade. You can bag or discharge with that. High lift blade gets a little better suction if you like a super clean look..
