I had an old base model Ego trimmer, and really hated it, the stupid thing was hard to load, you had to really hit it to advance anything, but it did an excellent job. But this year, I went ahead and got the top of the line IQ trimmer with everything, and my Goodness, it's like going from a Hyundai to a Cadillac. I used the Multihead stuff for years in my business and it is super reliable. I quickly jumped ship when the 2nd generation commercial line launched. I had opposite feelings on the edger. I felt when paired with the 1400 it was underpowered when doing new edges. It was fine for maintaining though. I haven't used the 1420. I got the commercial edger and it is so much more powerful. I hardly ever get it to cut out now. I am considering picking up the new commercial multihead power unit to use as a backup to my STX4500. Having a second STX4500 doesn't seem as smart since it isn't as versatile.

Hey Tech Made Easy, That spring loaded battery pusher does more than keep the battery from shaking around in the slot. It doubles as a switch so that the terminals can't be energized when the battery is not in place. Inside the unit there are capacitors and other electronics that can still have power even after the battery has been removed and that switch disconnects the terminals from the electronics.

Not that I’ve seen at this time. Speed IQ is sold as a tool but not multi head compatible

I don't understand the weight test. Was one 5.15 lbs and the second 5.24 lbs? That is more that a pound diff. Quite a lot! Please advise us. Thanks. Otherwise, good video.
@TechMadeEzyАй бұрын
Hi thanks The newer model was slightly heavier
@frankevichАй бұрын
What I meant of course was 6.24 for the newer unit. That's over a pound more than the older unit at 5.15 lbs. Quite a difference I would say!

Regarding the motor specs the new one is 2.3kw (2300 watts) hence the slight increase in weight.

@@TechMadeEzy it was actually a little tricky... I'm in the UK and I had to read through quite a few different websites until I found one with the FULL specifications, I also managed to speak with a local dealer who confirmed it with me. So yeah this thing should have tons of power! Sadly it's not available until early March here.

The older version has a 2000w. So if we are correct with the numbers it’s 15% gain

I was waiting for the new one but broke down and purchased the original and was pleasantly surprised. The new model may be better but not sure how. Also it seems to have a variable speed. Love your show ..thanks

Multi head vs regular weed Wacker?
@wakawaka1976 Жыл бұрын
I’m ordering the regular as it’s adjustable in length. I worry about longevity with a multi head as well

I have most of the attachments but find they are getting increasingly heavier, therefore not so enjoyable to use. It could be it's because I've just had an 80th birthday. Everything is getting heavy. Good review, Ego are the better tool.

Few reports of the carbon shafts breaking...stick with the metal one.
@beezer5623 Жыл бұрын
Nice vid homie. Being a Gen 1 multi head owner, me personally wouldn't upgrade unless mine breaks OR the Gen 2 has a more powerful motor. Is there any info on that front? Torque? That is what I would like to see. Same with the single stage snow blowers. 3 models, did they upgrade the motors in those as well? I'm not dying for an upgrade but would like to on that front but if all im getting is a metal auger or heated grips and propeller assist, it's not worth it YET anyway. Love my Gen 1 single stage :) Keep up the good work
@TechMadeEzy Жыл бұрын
No torque or specs available yet and honestly, EGO doesn't always disclose that type of info. We will see, yeah I would agree, stick with Gen 1

When is ego, going to make a decent pole Saw that doesn't have the chain fall off every few minutes And lock up and burns out the motor
@3DTwinkies4 ай бұрын
Haven't had mine burn out but the chain flying off is such a PITA and i have no idea why it happens, considering my 2 other electric corded saws dont do it, my 1 corded pole saw doesn't, and my 3 old gas saws don't either. what on gods green earth did ego do/design to fail a tried/true system of simply sawing wood is beyond me.
