Manufacturers really need to include heat pumps as standard in colder climates. I see it as an essential part not an optional extra
@concinnus2 ай бұрын
Entirely possible that every car on dealer lots in cold climes will have a heat pump, but they don't want to advertise a higher base price, so it's nominally optional.

Every importer defines their own packages. In colder climates it may very well be standard on the packages offered there.

Surprisingly positive. I test drove this in the UK a couple of months ago. The interior is cheap and plastic-y having borrowed so much from the universally derided VW ID range. It's crap, in short. The mach-e is streets ahead in comfort and quality, and two+ years old. The Explorer is a poor comparison and overpriced vs competitors such as the mache, EV6, and the polestar 4. Bonus points for Jonny Smith making a brief appearance 😂

the mach E is the correct name for that car, had they not called it a mustang or the new SUV a capri ford would be more popular. the mach E does look a great vehicle, its just a shame that ford dont actually listen to their own customers, dont use classic named vehicles for the new cars, thats was just plain lazy of ford!! if i didnt have such a long commute to work (120 miles each way) i would be tempted, as charging at home wouldnt be any sort of issue.

Needed a real world efficiency bit in addition to just quoting the theoretical range of 372. Im guessing like all evs it’s probably less. Circa 290/300?
@barnoslogikАй бұрын
i drive a diesel car, range is subjective to quite a few details, (including weather, tyre wear, tyre pressure etc) and one of the most controllable, how heavy a drivers accelerator foot is!! my 1.6 diesel ibiza with a 5 speed manual gearbox, it has a 45 litre (approx 10 gallon) tank with an estimated range of about 600 miles, i dont get 600 miles as i have a heavy right foot, occasionally i can achieve over 60 MPG (if i do 56-58mph on cruise control on the motorway, but i get bored), at motorway speed in 5th looking at about 56MPG but i tend to get an overall average about 50MPG so that would equate to about 500 miles to a tank. so in real terms i'm getting about 83% efficiency, 300 miles from estimated 372 miles equals about 80%, not too far apart are they? now 290 miles would mean down to closer to 78%, 280 miles equals about 75%, now those figures would be dissapointing.

Ford have got a real problem. Their vehicles are increasingly indistinguishable from any other mid-market players. I didn’t understand what was ‘fun’ was that VBH mentions. The acceleration? Most EVs deliver on that metric. Ford is going to have to properly strategise a portfolio offer for Europe. In the mid market they’ve been beaten by Renault and the Koreans and in the budget sector DACIA are untouchable. Thinking caps dear Ford, thinking caps.

Ford's navigation system is not worth a CR_P. I needed to go to the next city for a doctors appointment. I live very close to a main 4 lane highway. As it goes to my destination. It changes to a 4 lane divided highway. Then I exit it onto a 4 lane divided expressway. Finally I exit onto a 4 lane main road through the city. Last turn I am less than a mile from mu destination. Every quick. My return was to city 10 miles below I origin. My friend who live there. He told me a route to his house. I missed the route number to his place. I punched in his address into Ford's navigation. It showed his address. Hit tapped "GO". A blue line showed up on a route. I followed it through all the secondary streets and all the stop lights. Where did I end up. I was at the junction where I exited off the 4 lane divided onto the 4 lane divided expressway. From a simple express travel to a complicated city streets.

I much prefer the current model styling, but this is growing on me a lot. Problem is I don't want an electric car, so that is the end of that for me. Why not have a petrol engine, when there is such a lack of interest in electric cars, to only offer it in electric form seems crazy to me.

Ford ecoboost engine problems with wet belt issues are an ongoing problem for Ford at present so perhaps they didn't want the Explorer to add to their problems
@markbennett66582 ай бұрын
There’s plenty of interest in electric cars and demand for new ones is still growing albeit at a slower rate of increase. The secondhand market is on fire but the kicker is many new EVs are still too expensive. Overall car sales have actually reduced due to the depressed economy. The Explorer, although pricey is probably the most appealing of the Ford EV offerings in the UK, having good practicality, styling and range. The Mustang Mach E doesn’t look like a Mustang and the recently announced Capri which shares the Explorer underpinnings is hideous and sacrilegious! A sub £30K electric Ford Fiesta/Puma replacement is what’s needed but Ford like all legacy automakers are struggling.
@tb1002 ай бұрын
@@markbennett6658 Ford, like many other producers, are struggling due to their own stupidity. Ford stopped making affordable top-sellers like the Fiesta, long before the world was ready to switch over to EVs. Consumers are left in a no-man's land where they can only buy very expensive EVs, or cheap Chinese junk. All the good cars are gone and buyers are not buying. I'm hanging on to an 8-year old Fiesta for dear life, because there simply isn't anything like it, to replace it with!
