I'd love to see a video all about the Gilding process, from a complete beginner's perspective. There is a lot of information out there, but often contradictory in terms of supplies, and the process, heat or no heat, etc. Loved seeing the Lino process, my daughter created some great panels as a teen, I've been holding onto them for years, and this reminded me, I'll use them! Thanks, Stopan, beautiful work, as usual! Karen

Your books are outstanding as always - but who knew you had such a lovely speaking voice too - love your accent and it was so nice to hear your thought processes. I did the same thing with my letters in my first print lol. Your sketchbook is gorgeous!

Hi! Your notebooks are amazing!! Could you tell me what you use to make the gold stick and stay on the leather? If I remember correctly you said in a previous video that you don't heat you tools when you apply the gold.

I get a weird bit of regional pride seeing people to lino printing since I've lived for most of my life in the former world centre for linoleum production. Side note - I've always wondered with you and other artists projects with gold or silver leaf: what do you do with the excess? Is there some way to recycle it?
@Stopan5 жыл бұрын
I'm just delving into lino printing but so far, I love that there is no grain and you can concentrate on carving, regardless of direction. As for the gold, that's why I use that rubber. After a fair amount has been collected, the rubber can be burned out, leaving only the gold to be recycled. It will take some time, as it's a really fine leaf, only a few microns thick. My dad works with a lot more mass and each month he melts around 10 grams of dust to use again. It's a really good idea to collect the excess and I imagine most craftsmen do their best.

What's the name of the tool used at 8:21 to make a straight line? P.s. Your books are all incredibly beautiful
@Stopan4 жыл бұрын
Thank you, Shyra! The tool is called a line pallet. This particular one is a multi tool from a Greek master toolmaker and bookbinder. I'll send you the link here: koutsipetsidis.wordpress.com/2012/01/11/bookbinding-finishing-multitool-%CE%B2%CE%B9%CE%B2%CE%BB%CE%B9%CE%BF%CE%B4%CE%B5%CF%84%CE%B9%CE%BA%CF%8C-%CF%80%CE%BF%CE%BB%CF%85%CE%B5%CF%81%CE%B3%CE%B1%CE%BB%CE%B5%CE%AF%CE%BF-%CE%B4%CE%B9/
