There's something nostalgic about lino printing. I did it back in art school, it's a lot of work, time and patience. Well done Sir, it's coming along really nicely.

Thank you! A lot of people mention they did it at school, even my parents but my generation never did. I only found it a couple of years ago and it's a lot of fun. I save all my cuts and imagine that my son will play with them when he's a bit older, printing some pictures.

Like you said in your previous video, people are not usually here to learn and replicate from your skill. At least, I'm not. For me it is the evolution of an artist, and I'm really curious about your art and how you describe your art and your process. It's really fascinating stuff, and anyone can really apply your shared lessons in their own life I think, especially other kinds of artists I would imagine. This kind of art seems sort of lost these days, on the verge of extinction, and it's always great to see someone carrying on the tradition of their own cultures. Keep it up Stopan, we're always here witnessing! Another book binding and printing culture that fascinates me is the Ethiopian/Eritrean tradition in east Africa where I am from. It has mostly been religiously inspired work, but often (especially in Ethiopia) you get books about Magic, spells and weird cures for illness in special books and prints. I wonder what you think of this tradition in comparison with Bulgarian tradition. This reminds me of your fantastic work on the Chorbaji one that you made! That was amazing to see at the end. I wish there was a museum where a person can go to see that up close!

Thank you for such an uplifting comment, Minab! I really appreciate it! You're very keen on the comparisons between Ethiopian and Bulgarian book/manuscript traditions! I'm not steeped in it but I have great appreciation for Ethiopian book tradition and the particular imagery of the culture. I looked at Ethiopian amuletic scrolls as on of the inspirations when doing the Superstitious Chorbaji, so you're absolutely correct in finding a connection. I've wondered about the comparison in the past. At the same time, the two traditions are vastly different but have an odd connection between them. I think the connection comes from the raw form of Christianity. Neither in Ethiopia, nor in Bulgaria did it have the opportunity to be enforced or sanctioned in a particular way for quite some time. It developed in a very free, almost heretical way by being molded by the native beliefs of the people. This led to a very naive but truthful and unique representation of certain symbols and images. This is true for book structures as well. This is not so true in contemporary times but it did leave a wonderful history. I'm really chasing this unhinged experience in my work, trying to separate it from the religious context as much as I can but I don't think you can really do it entirely. I'd very much like to travel to Ethiopia at some point and experience your heritage first hand, though I'm a bit afraid of the culture shock. I'm still a bit shaken from my Korean stay and I guess I'm not really the adventuring kind of person, where I feel charged from such an experience but rather exhausted. But yeah, Ethiopian culture has a special place in my heart and I hope to get more educated about it, as I'm really just scraping the surface and only from time to time.

@@Stopan I appreciate your thoughtful response Stopan! As you said, it might be difficult to dissociate from the religious origins, but... in a way the secular things we do can give us religious feelings sometimes, even and especially without any particular belief in religion. I feel that art is one place where one can experience this. I can understand the exhaustion part. Often it takes years to know a culture, and a weekly or monthly tourist only gets a *slightly* better experience than someone browsing and learning on KZbin or other less exhausting ways. But I wish you well on your journey and I'm enjoying these more frequent uploads 🙏
