So we do have raycores on both engines. They are actually not seeing any debris or water. The issue is at the pick up pipe.

Always love the videos. Sorry for my novice question. In working on vehicles, there's a sock filter (sorry, looks like a condom) at the fuel pickup tube. Even on land, yes, we get crud from fuel stations, and this helps. I know this as my old filter fell off, and then crud would get pulled up and clog (choke) the motor. Just curious for my own boat knowledge if this is also the case here? I'm so dreaming of the day when I can go sailing as well, so these things help me for sure! Wishing you all the best, always!
@RedSeas3 ай бұрын
Far from a novice question! That’s absolutely the case in most marine diesel tanks too. In our case, we are unable to remove the pick up tube to clean that end which is a pain. Once the fuel is collected at the tank, it heads thru a bunch of filters before getting into the engines diesel pump and injectors. Hope that helps but it sounds like you have plenty of knowledge on the topic already 😊 thanks for watching and sharing our adventure. The more people we can reach, the better it gets.

We use our fuel buddy Every Single Time!! If we pull into a fuel dock and it’s busy then the fuel goes into our Jerry cans then when we pour it into our tank then we filter it through the fuel buddy. It is slow because it’s filtering all the tiniest of particles out! We have over 17,000 nm and 6800 hours on our yanmar engine without any issues! Delos has always used his without any issues! There are only three things that will foul your engines and they are Fuel, fuel and fuel!

Also need to let air into the tank by opening the outside to vent the air also. If you had opened one of the Fuel lines a to draw your fuel with the pump through. as A mobile fuel user adding more and several different types of filter from AutoPart Or a spare Fuel filter from Raycor and make it the same as what you use in the engine room.

Absolutely. The tank has a breather hose which equalises the pressure as we pull fuel out but adding a polishing system has jumped up the list a bit. 😊

You need to always use your fuel/water filter funnels for the filling of tanks. It takes out the first 80-90 percent of contaminates. Then make yourself a fuel polisher. You need a few gauges, valves, blocks, a pump, and fuel filters to make it. There are several videos available to make them.
@RedSeas3 ай бұрын
Totally looking into a diy polisher. The speed of filling thru a filter funnel is a bit prohibitive in these parts but I think we have a bit of a plan moving forward.

Hey, thanks for your comment. It’s actually kind of interesting. We both certainly have things that an annoy us but for the vast majority of boat problems we encounter, we have found the best thing for us to do in response is to laugh about it as we know that even the worst situations will make for a good story some day. Boats love to break so you can’t let it get to you too much. That said, we have made the promise multiple times that we will always aim to be open and honest with everyone who watches. So we share it as it is. It’s not always funny (you can check out our steering cable snapping EP90 for example. There we were not smiling much at all. But certainly there is no “front” we are putting on. We are genuinely so excited to share this wild adventure with everyone and we appreciate how fortunate we are to experience the good and the bad so don’t have much to complain about. Hope that helps clarify things a bit but more than happy to explain further.

You might need to use a sonic cleaner to break the smaller stuff in your filter funnel loose. I have a sediment screen filter for my well, and the sonic jewelry cleaner takes 90 percent of the dirt out of the filter element. Your filter is huge so fitting it in one might be a problem, but if the elements are removable it might be an option. The cleaner has paid for itself ten times over over buying filters.

@@RedSeas If you have a time and a place, you could cut a flat rectangular hatch in the tank tops large enough that you can get your arm in and clean or patch the insides. You can make a closing plate that screws down but you need a fuel proof gasket . I have seen fuel tanks with observation windows in the top as the hatch or sides . But again you need to check materials and sealing the hatch.
@RedSeas3 ай бұрын
Yeah, I think we will have to come up with something like that. Love the idea of a window so we can see the condition of the fuel but imagine we will be hard pushed to find AL plate just to make a cover panel let along Plexiglass or something. The gasket is the real issue. On board we have various silicone solutions but nothing that would be diesel stable so again, may be the thing that causes us to hold off for civilisation.
