I have been using TPlink Omada to share internet across my yard (3.5 acres) and throughout my parent's home/yard to cover a total of 4.5 acres. Only a few of the nodes are wired in and the majority are wireless mesh nodes and it still works great. Their indoor cheaper wifi 6 nodes cover slightly more than a room but their outdoor models cover huge areas. Great easy-to-use products!

TP-Link has been around forever, but the quality of their products has taken a monumental jump forward in the last couple of years. It's amazing to see.

I've been using Omada Products for about 6 months now and everything has been rock solid. I just wish they had more security features like IDS/ IPS but I assume that will be coming in the future.

I purchased a TP-Link ER605 and OC200 controller about 8 months ago when my Ubiquiti Unifi USG failed completely and are just not available to purchase. I didn't feel the need to move up to a USG pro model so took the plunge with TP-LInk. It has been working flawlessly with my two Unifi Switches and 2 Unifi Access Points. I will probably be purchasing TP-Link Omada products in the future as they more than meet my home needs.

My Omada setup is getting on for 3 years now. It’s been rock solid as a small home setup, gateway… 4 AP’s running 110 devices. I’ve dabbled with the software based controller a few times just couldn’t find a good reason to switch. Only thing I would change is I wish the gateway was rack mounted.

Wow I had no idea they have been around for that long. I only started seeing ads for the platform within the last year

@@MikhailJathan I started with running the access points stand alone mode back in mid 2018. That’s when I first tried the software controller hosted on a QNAP NAS. I picked up the hardware controller a year later and have not looked back since. I did stick a toe into the unifi waters in the shape of an EdgeRouter but couldn’t justify the cost to scale up.

@@mark_da_it_guy technically edgerouter isnt unifi but you are correct its definitely more expensive than the omada stuff.

@@MikhailJathan You are correct… not UniFi but Ubiquity… when it comes to the EdgeRouter-X I know a gateway drug when I see one. 😝 For my particular use case… Home Automation… I choose to invest my resources with Omada instead of following the market leaders and influencers who seems hellbent on pushing UniFi. Nothing against Ubiquity they are doing great things….

@@mark_da_it_guy hah! At this point ubnt is just announcing random new devices and we can’t even buy their current/ last gen stuff. What the heck

TP-Link should integrate the Omada controller into a model of their routers to eliminate another box we have to deal with. Just like the Unifi Dream router.

I bought a slightly older ac1350 EAP from TP-Link. It came with a really nice and good quality feeling PoE Adapter, rather than a PSU. Funny they went away from that. Never the less, Omada is great. I love the backup WAN feature of the router. I am currently using a USB LTE Modem as backup WAN, and it is working great. Only issue I have is the ACL feature, it's complete crap. I use it to restrict some access for a single guest network, but that is more or less where this feature's usefulness ends. Personally I don't need more, so that's fine for my use case, but it will not suite more demanding use cases.

I hope this puts a bomb under Ubiquiti in terms of them keeping hardware in stock and putting more effort into that space However, I will not purchase from companies such as TP-Link who are clearly copying/ripping off others Ubiquiti deserves the rewards for what they have done, they have literally taken a stick to the likes of Cisco and their expensive modeling and brought us all a far more reasonably priced pro consumer market BUT they really need to focus far more on getting supplies in stock and keeping stock levels flowing Don't tell me there are chip shortages and that's why Ubiquity can't supply hardware, others are managing to keep a reasonable supply flowing and Ubiquiti manages to bring out new models of hardware, complete with working chips in them, so the chips are available, even if not as plentiful as normal. How about forgoing some of your newer fancy toys Ubquiti and keeping existing models supplied for now This is a huge warning shot over your bow Ubiquiti, take note and get cracking on supply because your consumers are fast loosing faith in your dedication to existing consumers. I find it unacceptable that I have been waiting now for nearly 6 months to get some security cameras from UBquiti and the latest ETA is early December where I am located - TP-Link are going to eat you alive if you don't address your supply chain ASAP

While I applaud your honesty about Ubiquiti and if they are your choice that is great, but why fall on your sword about TP-Link copying Unif stuff? Neither of these companies are in it for you or me, if you happen to work in the C suite for them OK otherwise this is America baby - We want to make money! It is just capitalism and a good business plan. They see what I assume is a great product, people love and are familiar with but apparently they can't keep the supply up- TP Link see's a vacuum and is filling it- what better way to lure the unwashed masses over by giving them familiarity, supply and a lower cost? Genius if you ask me. Full disclosure- I own none of any of it- my "network" is a ISP modem, Google wifi router and 3 pucks. It totally sucks, ok that is a bit of a stretch but it ain't what I want so I am getting ready to take the plunge into the whole home network thing and I was all ready to go with Unifi then I hear about TP-link, hmmm- apears to be same-same, no issues buying what I (think) I need AND it is cheaper! Hell ya I'm in.

A few people have built container images for the Omada controller. Skip buying the appliance controller. Running containers are easy.

Love Omada. Got a 2.5GbE switch with a separate pfSense router. The 2.5GbE USB NICs are super affordable

Been using 30 EAP 115s and one OC200 for almost 4 years. I Can say there a few minor bugs. 1. ticket voucher (wifi passwords) URL went nuts, luckily Service centre furnished a hidden URL with the same function. 2. Two APs went down by itself. Did not self recover, had to manually unplug and re-plug LAN PoE cable. 3. Mesh Hand-off not as great as before. while playing an online game, used to be it won't cut off when moving end to end of the whole building. Now it cuts me off.

I've not checked out any of their wifi stuff but if it's anything like their router, good luck! I checked out their new router a month or so ago and was not impressed at all. I think it's targeted to be equivalent of something like the EdgeRouter-X. The interface was not intuitive. If you wanted to use the Omada software to manage it, you lost functionality from managing it locally. And... you can't do both. You can either manage it locally or via Omada. Took it right back to MicroCenter in less than a week.

Really hope you can test QoS capabilities compare to edgerouter X, can’t find the edgerouter and the ER605 is cheaper, omada APs are also cheaper where I live.

Professionally I use Unifi. Love the gear. I put Omada in my home as a test 2 years ago....been there ever since. Rock solid,..and.....and this is a big one, ALWAYS in stock. TP Link is the largest manufacturer of IT products in the world. This system is a simple copy of the Unifi stuff. But, If they want to make it better than Ubiquiti, they easily could and Ubiquiti should be taking note

I think I understand what you are asking. You can create multiple VPNs to the same destination using primary and secondary addresses. I will add this to my list of video to make, but it may be quite a while until I get around to it.
