Never thought I could have an eraser addiction but I’m feeling one coming on. Just when I thought I had my fountain pen addiction under control. Great comparison. I’m definitely going to give the Mitsubishi stick eraser a try. Thanks 👍.

Hi jimf - not to encourage a possible eraser addiction, but I am loving the Mitsubishi stick eraser! I find it does an overall nice job, and I love the stick format. I can keep it in my pencil cup. Thanks!

Oooooo, an eraser hoedown. I love those. Based on the last eraser tryout video when you first tested the Pentel Ain, I got one such Ain for myself, only mine is black and wider, standard block eraser shape - it's the only type the shop had. It is, as demonstrated here, a very clean eraser, but what I like most is how you don't need to apply _any_ force to use it. Any light stroke will lift the graphite, and as advertised it is gentle on the tooth of the paper. That is convenient for me, because I'm a bit of a perfectionist when writing in my Japanese language studies and it's not uncommon for me to erase the same harder kanji such as 「藤」 or 「書」 5 or 6 times until I get the stroke length and spacing right. The basic Hi-Polymer also erases similarly well, but it's more "gritty", feels rougher on the paper, and the crumbs are more powdery and messy. But it comes in a wafer-thin variant (only about 4mm thick) that's perfect to erase bits with surgical precision, so I give it that credit. That Mitsubishi is *_spectacular!_* 😍 What a tool! Anything that can erase Musgrave marks to the degree where you can't see any shadow is worthy of my respect and admiration. And in pencil stick shape too, talk about convenience. I'd love to own one of those.

Hi DFT - sounds like you are enjoying your Pentel Ain. It is a very good eraser. Somewhere I have one of those thin Hi-Polymer erasers. It almost looks like a stick of gum. I'm loving that Mitsubishi eraser and using it often. I've found it does an excellent job across most graphites. Thanks!
@DinnerForkTongue5 ай бұрын
@@AlwaysAnalog Yep, that's the one. Thin as a pack of gun, but cuts through text like a scalpel. Fantastic precision.

Pentel 4mm thick eraser: are you referring to the Pentel Marksheet eraser?
@DinnerForkTongue5 ай бұрын
@@Crazytesseract No, at least not this version here. It's only labeled as "Hi-Polymer Eraser". As Kevin said, it looks like a thin pack of gum.

@@DinnerForkTongue The Pentel Marksheet eraser is 4.5 mm thick, and it is made of PVC, i guess the same as Hi-Polymer. I have only the Marksheet eraser. What could be the difference?
@HumbleVoyager5 ай бұрын
Hi, Kevin! The Hi-Polymer erasers from Pentel are among my favorites. I recently purchased a Clear Radar made by a company called Seed, I think. I purchased it at a Daiso. At first, I thought I'd made a mistake as it smears the graphite, but after the initial rub it quickly erases perfectly and has become my new favorite. I believe it is a 100% PVC eraser. I had never seen one before, but it works great! Thanks for the video!!
@DinnerForkTongue5 ай бұрын
I tend to prefer the Ain over the Hi-Polymer because it's less messy. But both perform about on the same high level. They're great erasers for sure. Kevin has reviewed a Radarpoint eraser by Seed in the past. It didn't perform well in the video review, but he says it's perfect for heavier thicker paper.
@AlwaysAnalog5 ай бұрын
Hi Nancy! Thanks for sharing your experience. I tried one of those Seed Radar erasers but I wasn't crazy about it. I have another one in a different shape that I'll have to try. Perhaps I applied too much pressure. I'll give it another go. Thanks!

*In all of my 'writing life', I never had a good pink eraser - I was traumatized by the one side pink, one side blue paper-ripping monsters in high school.*
@DinnerForkTongue5 ай бұрын
Oh yes, the classic dual-side eraser. Which, to this day, people continue to spread misinformation about. The blue side is for thick paper, *_NOT_* for pen marks.

Hi raccoon - sorry to say there are some crummy erasers out there, but there are also many good ones. When I was in high school (which was 100 years ago) most of the pink erasers were fairly effective. Thanks!

Hi, Thanks for uploading this video... I'm just wondering if you can tell me more about the Mitsubishi Super Eraser, Please? In Your video you showed the 'Medium' which covers HB to 6B. Do you know if this eraser is available in Hard and Soft too? The reason I ask is that I am considering purchasing the Mitsubishi Hi-Uni pencil set which has 22 pencils, ranging from hard to soft, starting at 10H up to H, F, HB and then B up to 10B. I'm not sure how well the Mitsubishi Super Eraser (Medium) would perform against the harder pencils 10H to F although it might do just fine. As for the Softer pencils (7B to 10B) perhaps it would struggle? I want to have a suitable eraser to hand should I go ahead with the 22 pencil set. If there isn't a Hard and Soft variant of the Super eraser I could opt for a Kneadable eraser, or would you have any suggestions?
@AlwaysAnalog25 күн бұрын
Hi Evan - I've never seen a Hard of Soft version of the the Mitsubishi Super Eraser, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. I really only use pencils for writing, and generally I'm using 2B, B, and HB grades. There are a number of erasers that work beautifully on all of these. You might want to ask another artist who uses erasers across a broader spectrum of graphite grades which erasers work best. Many artists have told me the Tombow Mono eraser is excellent. It works well for the pencils I use, but that's all I can really say about it. When you start getting into 6B and beyond, I think most erasers will be challenged. Thanks!
@evanparkinson752524 күн бұрын
@@AlwaysAnalog Thanks for the response / advice, much appreciated. Yeah, I was in touch with an art supplies shop, who advised that anything softer than 6B isn't going to come off cleanly with any eraser, and also that the harder grades, from 6H up are going to dent the paper. So in the end I opted for a Lyra kneadable eraser for precision, highlights etc., and a Lyra 'Orlow - Techno' for general erasing. Thanks again 🙂

Do you like mechanical pencils? I Don't see you review many of them. One that I particularly like is the Uni Kuru-Toga. It rotates the graphite every time you lift the pencil, so you always have a sharp tip.
@DinnerForkTongue5 ай бұрын
Nope, Kevin is not a fan at all. He doesn't hate them, but his tastes are all for wood pencils. He has reviewed a few mechpens (like the GraphGear line from Pentel) and leadholders (like his Kitaboshi), but those are few and faaaaar between.
