White Linen was a fantastic summer perfume, it really doesn't need a reformulation but I would love to test out the new one. I will try them all. Estee' Lauder always come up with great gift sets

Love the regular white linen so much. I’m not a fan of Chanel N5, so I would have to say that the aldehydes in White Linen is of a different offshoot as far as aldehyde goes, at least to my nose. White Linen is like it’s name suggests, airy, sunny, breezy,,whereas N5 feels quite grounding, weighty,and formal. From my own perfume ‘journey’, I’m learning not all aldehydes equals scary old, dated Chanel 😂.

Hi, my grandmother used Estée Lauder make up and skin care products. My mom would purchase Estée Lauder when there was a gift with purchase. As far as perfumes , my grandmothers signature scent was Lanvin Arpege and my moms was White Shoulders. My mom had a few of the Estée Lauder perfumes but she didn’t wear them. I have only ever purchased Pleasures perfume by Estée Lauder. Once for myself and one as a gift. Have a great weekend. My signature scent would be Miss Dior.

Ha aldehydes 😅I love Chanel 5! But I think for those that don’t love it? Try Chanel 5 Leau. It’s so classic it’s like the original clean girl scent and refreshing!! 💕

The price of these seems outrageouse-- imagine the profit margin on these fairly generic sounding, and looking bottles of perfume!

I guess Frédéric Malle charged quite a big fee !

@@SokiLondon If you are willing to pay more than double the original fragrances price for a special edition batch all the best for you. Just remember that this idea was implemented a couple of years ago by Frederic Malle originally with art work on the original bottles but they were exactly the same fragrances with another huge up-charge.

Something to remember about old fragrances is that back then, everybody smoked indoors. If you wanted anyone to smell your perfume it had to be strong and loud! It’s hard to imagine it now, but everywhere you went was full of cigarette smoke: cars, airplanes, schools, restaurants, shops, even hospitals!

When I was a little girl in the 1990s, visiting my grandmother at Christmas time, I decided I wanted my very own bottle of perfume. I had smelled a few while at the beauty shop with my mom and gotten this notion in my head. My grandmother took me to, this amazing drugstore where they had countless dupes of all the popular sense back in the mid 90s, and we sprayed literally every single one… I don’t know how she had the patience. I finally settled on one called Ross silk, which was a clone of white linen. whenever I was allowed to wear perfume, that was my signature sent all the way up through middle school. I haven’t smelled it in years, but I guess you could say that it’s the perfume that changed my life!!!😃

I don't think lifetime lovers of these classics will like the modernized ones. Looks like I need to stock up on more Knowing and Azuree. Azuree is my summer signature. $280 is outrageous. The new ones lack the performance that the older ones have. Why would they make them weaker and then raise the price? The stronger OG ones are cheaper than these, which makes me think the OGs will eventually be gone

I so agree with that! I love love love the scent beautiful on others but it alwaya winds up smelling like cabbage on me 😂, spellbound was a high school fave of mine and my mother has worn cinnabar for YEARS

Is aldehyde the " old lady perfume" smell ? Whenever i think of estee lauder i think of my grandmother and that specific old lady scent some perfumes have. Lol the smell makes me sick. I know someone knows what i mean 😅

Haha yes I know exactly what you mean, it’s usually from aldehyde, or tuberose. Musks are also grayish but they’re mostly light and powdery so I don’t mind them

My favorite is Estee original. To me it is completely unique...so much so that I'd have a hard time describing it. As far as aldehyde, I'm not sure what that is but I dislike Chanel No. 5 - it just smells too "old lady" to me. But I don't get that at all with the original Estee 🤷‍♀️

When I was about ten years old, the fragrance counter was handing out tiny sample bottles of Private Collection. I felt so grown up. It wasn't a new fragrance. I guess it had been out ten years. Not sure why they were promoting it then.

Since Loreal bought them ( and Mugler ….etc……) everything is just wrong 😢I use to love quite a few of the scents..I will say, the I am intrigued about Malle re-doing these! If he can make the ones Loreal ruined? Come back to life?? Maybe? I’m curious to sniff but doubt I’ll buy! My granny wore a lot of them. Ha but lately?? I find myself turning to Arab scents ( not sure if they have to follow IFRA) but they dupe and they perfume unlike sooo many designer scents lately 😢
