New evidence could derail Kroger-Albertsons merger

An e-mail from an Albertsons boss to his counterpart at Kroger is now a key piece of evidence in the Federal Trade Commission's attempt to block Kroger's $25 billion acquisition of Albertsons.

This merger has got to be stopped. Kroger heads have lost their minds. As the DA said a few weeks ago, Kroger does not care about their customer, period. They are price gouging pure & simple.

Oh, and now Kroger is eliminating discounts. Boost is gone after March 27, 2024. Paper coupons gone. Kinda sounds like Kroger is going to make their customers pay, in part, for this merger.

Re: Kroger buying out Albertsons..in my opinion, it’s a terrible idea. Not only will all-powerful Kroger raise prices for we, the consumers, while paying their workers poor wages, but we will have our choices taken from us as they line their shelves with Kroger brand products only..it is a nightmarish thought but one I truly believe would happen if this merger is allowed. It’s not paranoia, I’ve seen and heard from long time workers at Fred Meyer what the Kroger plan has been for years.

My husband works for Kroger's and I think this is bologna. Kroger's can't even get enough employees based on current wages from Union negotiations because everyone else is paying more. Mind-blowing that the union is supposedly on the side of the employee or the consumer

Please be kind to your husband. I started w/ them in 1969. Saw it all. Long story short, if one is a kiss-up, you'll do just fine. Unfortunately when I punched in, it was to work. I am not now or ever have been a kiss-up. Shame tho, as life would have been a lot easier. No merger!

This video might be somewhat inaccurate there not shutting down they might merge but it is not the workers decision. I wanted it blocked too. I may of encountered a mystery shopper who witnessed how some of the other customers were treating me and the other associates there investigating wage theft something is going on and there still arguing over it but we are not being laid off and even if I am thats why i didn't just quit like the other girl because there have been times I almost didn't get a lunch too but I let it go. I told them I was getting paid but the reason they tax me so high is because of the union the IRS may of took it for my student loans so some of the workers are keeping these non union stores in check by making the price high it was not the staffs decision to make a loaf of bread 7 dollars it's the theft people have to stop taking stuff too it adds up. Thats why they jack it up the price the moment people stop taking stuff everything goes back to normal.

This union rep is full of it. Albertsons is going to close those stores and Walmart is still the grocery king. Costco and others are also expanding. As far as wages you can't undercut wages if you want workers. Too many open jobs out there.

I think it will be a great thing. Look the competition Walmart and Target and Amazon are getting bigger and bigger and soon there won't be a traditional grocery store in an existence. They can't cut wages and raise prices then their sales would drop sufficiently . I think its the only to compete with competition.
