4:49 Meta Taro is just a name that’s based on Momotaro (Peach boy) from Japanese folklore. Momotaro was a boy born from a large peach floating down a river and became the son of an elderly couple. While growing up, there was a group of Oni (ogres) that pillaged the land. Momotaro went on a journey to take the oni’s down. On his way there, he befriended a monkey, dog, and a pheasant to help him defeat the oni’s, which he was successful at and he became a hero. Meta Taro might also be based on Ultraman Taro; a hero from another planet that protects earth from monsters but lives as a human. The theme song of the show is a similar hero’s anthem kind of song. Meta is short for Metaru (metal in Japanese) Taro itself is a masculine name meaning eldest son, large boy and has connotations of being strong and courageous. I would say Meta Taro is a personified version of metal music. He is a hero that inspires everyone through the power of metal

Great stuff - Legend MM Night of 20 was the day before her 21st birthday, that was when she did 'MomoBanger'. This one was Night of 21, so it was her birthday and the intro was all about her. 'Meta Taro' was Su's favourite song on the second album. She thought the choreo was simple and the crowd could dance along with them ... I think she overestimated the abilities of most of us.🤣 Oh yeah, its a live show, the Kami Band is there even if you don't see them on camera.

Nice one, thanks! This performance took place on March 3, the day that Japan celebrates Girls' Day (Hinamatsuri) or Dolls' Day. In the lore they mix this holiday with "Momotarō" who is a hero from Japanese folklore (basically the hero of everyone) well known for being born from a giant peach that was found floating in a river. Of course "Momo" means peach and it was Momoko's nickname, while "Taro" is a very common name and could be translated as "boy". So, it's the peach-boy. Now you have all the lore well aligned and adapted to Momoko's 21st birthday, the holiday and the song, haha... I just love it and I'm glad I was lucky enough to have witnessed it in person. 😊 🤘🦊

It's her given name, her surname is Okazaki. You may have seen her listed as Okazaki Momoko. That is because convention in Japan, like Korea and China, is to list Family Name (surname) before given name. It can get confusing because some Japanese media, when posting in English, can alternate between conventional and western style and some, though still very few, western writers use the traditional format although I have seen that increase lately.

The Babymetal brains trust are absolutely brilliant. Rather than try to make Momo the replacement for our beloved Yui, which would have been almost impossible for Momo to live up to, they close the door on that iteration of BM, fully acknowledging the greatness of the OG team but re-establishing themselves as the grown up Babymetal. The new line up seems to have more licence to show their personality in concerts and it’s so lovely to see their genuine smiles when they perform. I was estatic when Momo officially became Momometal but what sealed the deal for me was her performance of Momobanger. She absolutely crushed it and now I can see the bigger potential for BM to become even more successful. Momo is a major asset and she has the personality to win the hearts of BM fans, just as Yui did.

Right now it's Wowow that owns all of the rights to Legend MM until the Blu-ray is released in July. It is unknown if Amuse will allow YT uploads like they have for the Returns and Begins concerts. Momotaro was the nickname her sister gave to her. LMM Day 21 was for her 21st birthday, which they celebrated since they couldn't celebrate her 20th since she wasn't apart of BABYMETAL yet, though they did 'go back' and celebrate her 20th with LMM 20, which was held the day before. Meta Taro is a metal super hero, basically a play on words for something like "Metal boy."

Yes, we must protect Momometal at all costs. : ) Who would have thought that Koba would allow Yokohama Arena to be flooded with pink light? As a side note, "momo" can mean "peach" in Japanese, and that was Momoko's nickname growing up, and in Sakura Gakuin. However, the "momo" kanji in her given name is the one for "100" (百) + "child" (々子), not the one for "peach" (桃).

So it makes sense to have her sing Moa's parts because Moa has had more birthday specials in her 14 years as Moametal than Momoka has had in her at the time 11 months as Momometal? No what would have made sense is a Black Babymetal song. Have her perform a larger part alongside Moa. No Su anyways , instead of her performing Moa's part in Meta Taro , or any other song where Moa and Yui had individual "solo" parts

I heard the story of Momotaro when I was a child over fifty years ago. Momotaro is a well-known Japanese folklore that depicts the story of the hero Momotaro and his companions defeating ghosts. Okayama City is the stage for the story of Momotaro. Original story is: A long time ago, there lived an old couple in a remote village. The old couple wanted to have a baby, but they couldn't. One day, the grandfather went up the mountain to cut firewood, and the grandmother was washing clothes by the river. A big peach floated up the river. She was very happy to take the peach home. She wanted to cut it and eat it, but she couldn't. They had to wait for the old man who came home from chopping wood to deal with the peach together. Finally, the two of them worked together to cut the big peach. As a result, a little boy popped out of the peach and named him "Momotaro". When he grew up, Momotaro went to the ghost island to eliminate evil for the people. Along the way, Momotaro used glutinous rice dumplings (millet rice dumplings) to take in little white dogs, little monkeys, and pheasants. Finally, they united as one and successfully eliminated the hateful ghosts. Some monsters opened the treasure chest. Later, he was turned into a stone statue by magic. After Momotaro brought back a lot of treasures, he lived a happy life with his old parents. This version is my favourite. Thanks for your great reaction.

In the presentation they mix the story of a character from a Japanese story called Momotaro who is born from a peach, and as you see the name Momoko comes from the peach, also how she was born on March 3 and from what I read in those dates is the harvest season for that fruit there in Japan and his parents gave him that name in honor of those dates, don't notice that the translator uses it, greetings from Ecuador

"Momo" can mean "peach" in Japanese, but the kanji for Momoko's given name is the one that means "100" (plus "ko" for "child"). Peach was one of her nicknames growing up and in Sakura Gakuin though.

Thats definitely Momo growling, but with All live shows from every bands DVD/BluRay, they produce the concert and "polish" it up. Ive worked with many bands live and on many tours, ive seen and heard first hand the difference between a concert and the same concerts live recording. Ive even talked to producers that mix the live shows and polish them up. Like i said, every band does that, but thats is Momo growling live, its just "cleaned up" for better sound.

I am a massive Yui fan but when Momo stepped up to be the new member, I loved it. She was one of my faves from SG because she was just so funny. And seeing her in BM warms my heart so much. She definitely contrasted Yui but she brought new energy to the band.

Great reaction! There was a reference to Iron Maiden (again) in the intro gfx, did you notice? 😄 In fact, Momo GOT two intros! It was HER in the gfx, Su-Metal stands to the left (one pony tail!), and she came down "from the skies", once again 😉 And once again she did several growls here, most likely still backtrack, but, hey... 😉 If you listen to the original version you will hear that the part Momo sang was done by Yui and Moa back then. Momo sang both parts, which is quite unusual. Moa took a step back so that THE ONE could celebrate Momo even more! Which the crowd did 😄Going all in for her, as you said. The whole "Legend MM" concert (both nights) was VERY outstanding.

If you want to try something a bit different from Babymetal, you should take a look at the Metal Galaxy live version of Da Da Dance, or the 2021 Budokan live version of BxMxC. A speed metal/trance song and a full on rap metal track.

yeah dude, checkout the original and see for yourself, but I will tell you this, Moa gave her, her verse and Su's, who had been singing Yui's verse, plus the first verse was originally Moa and Yui harmonizing together, and they changed the choreo a little too, try to find the other three versions, 1. original, 2. no yui and the crowd sings her parts, 3. Su sings Yui's parts, 4. this one Momo singing the whole first part. Probably the best versions are 1. Tokyo Dome 2016 2.Legend S 2017 3.Dark Night Carnival 2018 with Darth Vader and Joachim from Sabaton, #3 turned out to be more special than we thought at the time, because Joachim did a guest feature on Omaginai from MG and Darth Vader ended up being one of our guitar players from USA.

With the feeling that poor Moa is getting left out, I'd suggest a Moa solo of yore next. The oldest being a cover of a song called Love Machine, but there's a solo version of her doing GJ! and Onedari Daisakusen in 2021 at Budokan. (The other versions of those two were done with Yui) I'd recommend the Budokan ones over Love Machine personally. Probably Onedari, since I like that song better.

I think they just let Momoko shine so the audience can see her potential, not a replacement for Yui. Moa was there from the beginning, people already know her voice and capabilities. Also, in some interviews, she said she prefers dancing than singing. I just hope that one day we'll see Moa and Momoko singing together as a duo

Yes, great song, but i hope they dont start putting growls in just for the sake of growls like every other metal band it is so boring . BabyMetal, get it just right using it sparingly, and now MoMo got that ability they have the option, but hopefully, not every song thats what made me stop listening to metal when everyone sounding like they where auditioning for the Exorcist 🤣🤘🏼🦊🤘🏼

To me this isn't really a big deal. All they did was have Momo sing Moa's verse at the begining (the second) instead of just Yui's ( the first). Personally I think it's bs and disrespectful to Moa. As far as I know they never did this much for Moa on her birthday. They had her do a "Moabanger" on a couple of her birthdays, same for Yui and now Momo. But never had her sing Yui's parts of a song while Yui essentially just did the choreography and Moa sang her parts. She got to do Moabanger and solo performances of Black Babymetal songs that Su never took part of, but Instead gave Su a break. Just as Atasuki , Rondo of nightmare, , no rain no rainbow etc. were Su solos giving Moa and Yui a chance to rest and catch their breath. It just irks me they seemed to do things for Momo's birthday that they never did for Moa's or Yui's or even Su's. And I always love the extra attention they give the girls on their birthdays

i kinda get what you're saying. i myself have noticed them throwing a lot of attention at Momo (even getting her own spotlight routine for Metali, even though she didn't even perform on the album itself). HOWEVER, to me it also feels like (a) they're trying to "catch her up" , so to speak (especially since they don't seem to ever be bringing back "black babymetal", per sa) ; and (b) they probably feel like a big push is necessary to make sure she doesn't have to exist in Yui's shadow. so i'm totally okay with it. (though, i would like to see Moa start getting some of her spotlight back moving forward)

The probably did this because the could not do Headbanger night of 20 on Momo's birthday so they did that one the day before. But they still wanted something special on her birthday and that's why they did this Meta Taro version. I'm sure if Moa wanted to they would have split the singing parts so Momo only gets Yui's parts. And remember, Moa not only got her Headbanger at Legend M but also the special version of Shine with her on the guitar and without Kano joining them on stage, it was just a Moa and Su moment.

i feel very uncomfortable with this. this looks like the full blu-ray rip, and the reason you can't find it anywhere but the high seas right now is because IT'S NOT EVEN BEEN RELEASED YET (or otherwise was only available from behind a paywall). which means _its very existence_ is illegal. the fan-cam compilation is one thing ; but this is unethical af. i ain't gonna report ; but i also ain't gonna support. do the right thing, dude. (at least private it until the blu-ray releases)
