⚡ / ☂ 🌈 'No Rain, No Rainbow' is a very rare BABYMETAL song. It's been performed only seven times since its debut in 2013. And never outside of Japan. As far as the lyrics are concerned, this is what Su-metal had to say a few years ago: "Sure! 'No Rain, No Rainbow' might be the least metal song of our repertoire and it’s been with us for three or four years now. This song is a total fan favourite though. You can interpret it in a romantic way but we like to think about it in a more open way. It is about simple human feelings of love and loss and how the value of certain things we have in life is only perceived in dark moments. At the beginning, we admit we couldn’t completely understand the deep meaning of this song. But this song has helped us develop not only Su-metal's vocal techniques, but also our way to express our emotions through this song the more we performed it."

This was at the Budokan in 2014 when Su was 16 years old. Check out the Legend S performance from 2017. It is even more impressive. Su was older then, her voice more mature, and she was better able to understand and convey the emotions of the song. They also had violinists and a pianist on stage. Legend S was her 20th birthday concert in her hometown of Hiroshima. It was the first show performed without Yui. It was also the last time guitarist Mikio Fujioka performed with Babymetal before he died on January 5, 2018. You've done 3 of the 4 Su solos so far. If you want live piano and a string quartet you need to check out the version from Legend-S Baptism XX from December 2017. Also, if any version can make you shed a tear, that is the one. Don't ask me how I know... 🥲 The song is a tribute to X-Japan's "Endless Rain". It was premiered live back in 2013. Su-metal (being just 15 at the time) wasn't happy with her performance because she was more focused on hitting the correct notes than on conveying emotions. To the point they didn't include it on their first album in 2014. Also, with only seven live performances, this is still one of their statistical oddities (and I love this kind of rarities). 🤘🦊

You said it was a movie song. I think, but am not sure, that the author of the music is known for writing Japanese movie scores. It's the only Babymetal song he wrote, though Leda Cyguns of the Eastern Kami band wrote the guitar parts and the epic solos. I've loved this song since the first time I heard it. It's my favorite 21st Century song, probably. But Su's perfomrances of the song at Legend S and Budokan 2021 are legendary! I'm a big fan of 80's music, ballads especially. That's why this song appeals to me so much. If you listen to it ten more times, be sure to check out the Legend S version, which was, interestingly enough, Su's 20th birthday celebration concert.

It's a shame you didn't react the the performance from LEGEND - S - BAPTISM XX, not only is it a great performance it was also Su's birthday show in her home town and it was also the last performance of Kami Band Legend Mikio Fujioka before is untimly passing. This show was also the beginning of BABYMETAL becoming a duo for awhile as Yui did not attend due to an illness and then would never return.

That performance was an extra special version of the song, the concert was at the Hiroshima Green Arena and the performance of No Rain, No Rainbow was dedicated to the people of Hiroshima, Su's home city.

Because of songs like this, Su is our Queen. If Su's voice doesn't move you, you're not alive. Did you like Monochrome first take piano version? Then check out Legend 1997 Apocalypse concert on December 21st, 2013, the day after her 16th birthday (it's a different version of Akatsuki 2021): "Babymetal - Akatsuki (unfinished) (Legend 1997)(2013) Eng Subs", a version with Kamishibai (an intro) and subtitles. You should also check out Su's a other solo, "Amore".
