Thanks for the interview, I was waiting on sim racing expo for a surprise release of the Podium Porsche steering wheel and a "preview" of the different modules (screen/buttons), instead we are still waiting for the dd1/dd2 software. Now I hope the steering wheel and button box are out before November or before.

It's not a DD1 and DD2 software. It's a Fanatec software for all their wheel bases, not just limited to the DD and as Thomas said in the interview, it won't completely change the driving experience because you can already fine tune the bases with the Tuning Menu on the fly and the software won't add that much more other than some dynamic FFB effects.

What he meant to say is, it's like a telemetry software for your Fantec wheel, and that it's in Alpha stage and most likely buggy lol

Nah a beta stage software does way more than the guy showed us, they didn't even connect a wheel to demonstrate functions. Either they are protecting intellectual property or the software is in early programming and design stages = alpha

@@gisan3537 trust me, it's in closed beta and I am using it and it's great! But maybe you expect too much of the software, it for sure is no gamechanger, it makes your life easier and adds some custom FFB effects as well as controlling vibration motors of ClubSport Wheels and Pedals and also RevLEDs and flagleds and the display. You can already tune mostly everything you would ever need directly on the fly in the tuning menu, no need for a software..

these new big chunky wheels really do need a DD base. I got the M3 GT rim on my CLS elite and it is just too heavy, a lot of the FFB resolution is lost.

Will the software be compatible with all fanatec wheelbases or just the podium series?

Nice new gear and Fanalabs sounds very promising. "Auto" load the setup per sim is great and thus also more then max 5 setups. Release of Fanalab 'really very soon' can that be translated to 4-6 weeks? We love the German punctuality and 'soon' is vague ;)

Yeah Fanatec aren't super German when it comes to releasing products at the announced time, but I took it as "2-5 weeks", but my guess is as good as any.

Sadly a 'solid beta' was announced to be available in may, so I have no clue wether we can ever use it...

If the FanaLap allows you to bind the (almost useless in VR) joy to 4 way button, that would be epic for BMW and 918 rims

They demo a software without attaching a wheel base to it. Kind of weird. Can't they show anything indepth or did you see some more off camera? Otherwise it could be just a click dummy. Can be build within a day using Sketch and Invision. Hopefully this is proven wrong "very soon"™ ...

Wasn't a click dummy. I think Thomas hoped we could see a bit more even without a wheel attached, but sadly no. I didn't see any more of it "backstage" or anything.

I'm worried about this "dynamic damping" and how affects for example in iRacing. Could having a lot of imput lag if the wheel base can't handle all the 360Hz data, i hope this can't be a problem.

Does the Porsche wheel come with the podium hub and magnetic paddles? I have the podium r300 pre-ordered, but want to cancel it, if the Porsche wheel will offer the same amenities

Yes, comes with the magnetic paddles and the Podium Hub. Another option you have instead of cancelling is to buy the Button Module as standalone unit and use it with your R300 rim, as it's also compatible.

Yes, Thrustmaster was so nice and passed the NASCAR license to Fanatec.

Yes, a load cell brake and a less notchy wheel base drive, along with a rim that looks less like a toy...all coming soon.

Samzilla get the v2.5! I promise you won’t regret it, I purchased a brand new tx servo and man it’s so garbage once my v2.5 came in. Plus the simhubs glitch when using a th8a and shifting really fast like in a rally or drifting

all Fanatec wheel bases are supported, but not all will get the same functionality

The Sim Channel v2.5 truest doesn’t need it, I have mine so dialed in that I don’t have oscillation, if it does then turn drift mode to -1 or lower and raise it up for turns. I can’t understand why people complain so much about having “to do stuff” to race 🙄

@@sksimracing6643 Used paypal for my last purchase yes but had credit cards on file with Fanatec webstore . Its Fanatec website that got hacked plus IT team leaked over 400+ email addresses (including mine) earlier this year. Had enough of this company with regard to secure sales/data etc now. Dont get me wrong the products are really good, but i wont buy direct from them again. Had apology from Thomas AGAIN, but really isnt good enough and lost all confidence about them holding my details(data) again. Cant say anymore as said too much already as still angry/frustrated and feel let down.

@@sempreverde7462 Right, I did ask that off camera, but he didn't give me a straight answer. My best bet is that for now they're happy with their wheel base lineup, but of course there's gonna be a V3 at some point. I asked if a lower force direct drive is an option as well, and he said that of course it's an option and you can produce a lower force wheelbase at a lower cost. But I think it was more of a general remark. I think if you're looking for a new wheel base announcement, be prepared to wait a little while.

@@sempreverde7462 in any case, the CSL v1.1 is not like a ClubSport v2.5. Yes, they share the motor and the controller, but the gears, belts, sensors and many other stuff are still different.

I have the club sport pedals that are nice, but fanatec lost my business a long time ago with their “it will be the best- if we ever actually produce it and even more unlikely release it”. Worst business practices in the business!
