Move in day....not jealous in any matter. Moved 8 years ago(hopefully never again) and it took me almost 2 months of non stop packing, and putting off to side. Probably 50 trips with 2 pickups of box after box. Congrats on the new home.

I knew you wouldn’t sell the original homestead. Those homes are a big part of all the generational family farms. You did the right thing building your own house! You do whatever you can imagine ever needing OR wanting when it’s built. I’m so jealous of the pantry! I can, dehydrate plus buy in bulk(have for many years) Half my DR is food storage shelves, plus the pantry area which was a butler’s pantry when this 1898 house was built.

For the basement wall finish consider a stucco type finish. Can’t remember what they call it but it’s the type finish used on newer commercial buildings. It has a foam backing and then basically a troweled finish. So you can get it as rough as you want or almost like the interior finishes on southwest homes. Just thinking you already have the foam backing from the ICF it may be an affordable and long lasting option.

I was totally impressed with the tour of your new house with such a lovely lady. I also was really impressed with the trim around the doors and windows. The bathroom layout was amazing. I redone my bathroom a few years back and wanted to do what you did but my contractor said it couldn't be done. Thanks for sharing with us.

Congratulations Brian on your New Home. It's really nice. Me and my wife just moved in our new Home. December 14th. We moved from city life to country life. Its a big adjustment not being 5 minute's from everything.Man I'm glad it's done though. We had so much trouble with permits. I understand what you said about your old house we lived in ours for 27 years. It's on the market for sale but I go back there a couple times a week checking on things. Thanks for sharing the building videos with everyone.

We build the same closets and in floor heating 26yrs ago and still love it. I love your shower bath area. Great pantry also. Enjoy your new house and start making memories. The kids are perfect age to really appreciate their new rooms. Awesome build!

The basement walls....Easiest way is frame out 2 by stud walls, concrete anchor the floor, top screws in the joist....Congrats on the new home, buetiful place...Give it 6 months, and learn how many honey does show up after...lol...Truly, congratulations the back porch going to get wore out lol come spring...

Take a picture of the old bank barn, blow the picture up and put it on the office wall. I moved away form the family farm 28 years ago after living there for over 30 years, quite the wrench. Still have the farm sign and a momento. or two. New house looks great.

Congrats house looks great , on the basement Icf walls use 1/4 with liquid nail and tapcon screws made for concrete . You will have to pre drill holes for the screws . Then attach you wall paneling with glue and finish nails coloured to match your paneling . Enjoy !

We used that Dry Fall product in our home we built by Hillsboro and one other home. Love the product because all the mechanicals disappear and you retain your full ceiling height.

Home completion is a long journey. At least you'll get to customize the design to your own tastes. Remodeling older homes adds upgrades, but underneath it all you still have the original structure. Looks like you'll be set for years to come.

When I closed in my house hired movers. 2 nd floor apt to 2 story home about 7 miles away. They come with box truck and 5 guy. Best $800 I spent.

Don't get me started on the "soil scientist" stuff. I had to move my house location 3 times because of them. Can't have the view over the hill looking at a creek like I wanted. Now my septic lines run up hill. Not sure how that works but it does. Wouldn't pass final until another 100 ft was added. 760 ft of line. WTH. Of course that was 24 years ago. House looks great. Congrats
