NEW FAVOURITE??? [BAND-MAID - The one] FIRST time REACTION!

The production on this song is amazing. The sound is huge. It almost feels like they are playing this song live. I’ve never felt that before in a BAND-MAID song. For songs like “Endless Story”, “Wonderland” or “About Us”, it’s the live version that made me really like these songs. And I love that the first half of Kanami’s solo starts in the left ear and ends in the right.

This song and Forbidden Tale were also my two immediate favorites when I first heard the album. They represent an evolution in the band's sound and Kanami's composing skills.

Great reaction and The One is all about delayed gratification, when you think you know where the song is going, it doesn't. It's is getting harder to pick a top song in this album. Thanks for the review and support of Band-Maid.

The One warmly communicates a deeply felt nostalgic passionate longing for someone. Kanami's motifs recollect loving and playful moments of the past. The lush harmonies make it seem that this was a match truly heaven made. Akane & Misa's heavy rhythms are reminiscent of hearts beating in joyful unity . ❤️❤️

This song was initially intended to be the last song of their 10th anniversary tour final at Yokohama Arena. But they decided to use "endless story" instead which, I think, was an appropriate decision. Maids said that they will use this song as a closer at a bigger venue! I loooove this song, btw, PO! 🕊💕

Appreciate your reactions. Your two favourites so far are also two of my top 3. Usually I go for their crazier stuff but something about the mixing on the harder/heavier tracks put me off this time. I'm looking forward to hearing those harder tracks live because I think they could explode and become something really special. I'm interested to hear your take on those tracks when you get to them. I think they really hit a home run with some of the moods they created on this album. Especially with "The one", "Forbidden Tale" and there's another one coming up. I think they hit a lot harder than some of their other ballads, for example "Page" and "At the Drop of a Hat". I think Saiki's improvement as a singer has helped in this kind of song; her voice has a new "smoothness" or "richness" that suits these kinds of songs very well.

Maybe recording Bestie reminded them that loud and fast is not always the best way to enjoy a song. Probably the best from the album.

It sounds like Saiki may have a new piano part? Am I hearing some ADO influence? Again, Band-Maid is exploring new spaces. Band-Maid doing Band-Maid things. I love the panning, the production is wonderful. Kanami is not only exploring new tones, but nailing them. One of these days you're going to watch a movie and see Kanami Tono and Band-Maid credited for the soundtrack.

As I've mentioned before, I'm not normally a huge fan of power ballads, at least in the studio. I like the emotion in songs to be a bit more understated (e.g. I like Wonderland a lot more than Daydreaming). But for whatever reason The one just works for me. Not quite my favourite on the album, but definitely top half.

I think they (Kanami?) have decision-making power over the mixing of their sound. Now that they are independent (Platinum Passeport is no longer their agency) this will be the norm from now on. The One is my favorite song even if there is no Kanami solo. It's weird that I say that.🫢 Thanks.
