New mobile phone footage has emerged which gives a fuller picture of what happened when a campaigner against antisemitism was confronted by police at a pro-Palestine demonstration.
The Metropolitan Police issued two apologies last week after a video clip was published showing Gideon Falter being described in his heated conversation with an officer as "openly Jewish".
Mr Falter subsequently called for the resignation of Met Police chief Sir Mark Rowley.

Exactly, so ban the marches. If someone’s mere presence is inciting a reaction by standing there, then it’s a hate rally and should not be allowed. If it’s good for one side, it’s good for the other, and to par rest someone because they’re frightened there presence will cause a violent reaction, shows the real problems, policing out of fear and hate rallies being allowed to go ahead because politicians and police have lost control.

Any person with humility knows exactly what the police officer meant by ‘visible Jewish’ this is exactly the type of word jewish people often use when they describe themselves. He was trying to protect him from any possible harm, coming towards him. Using this as propaganda opportunity is not only disingenuous but also disgusting. He's raising money to acquire land for colonial settlements... how exactly does that work? I thought colonialists just take the land, so why would he need to raise money to get the land? And sure, he's chairman of the campaign against anti-semitism. I know it's hard for you when jews stand up for their rights to not be violated for being jewish, you know, being an anti-semite yourself, but deal with it. I think it's damned logical that someone like him would be at demonstrations like this to point out the anti-semitism (not anti-zionism) and take a camera to show the world... and not by talking to these pro-palestinian supporters, but just by being there and letting them visually know that he's a jew. If those supporters really aren't anti-semitic, there would be no problem and Gideon's film-crew would be there for nothing. But that didn't quite happen, now did it?

Because calling a jew a jew isn't about just pointing out his/her religion. There's a very negative connotation around it which makes the intention demeaning rather than pointing out religion. They have to act to protect the individual first, even if the individual wants to put themselves at risk. It is not bias or discriminatory to protect someone against their will . Just look how they arrest drunk, drugged, or otherwise unhinged people. The law says they can use the law and all reasonable force necessary to protect people from harm.

The Hamas supporters are aggressively harassing whoever they please. This is the UK. Nobody in the UK needs permission from a terrorist organization to hold our Remembrance parade either. Other people have posted videos and its obvious he was trying to be provocative. He was lying. The police were doing their jobs. Politicians should not be commenting on things before they see all the evidence.

Knew it all along. This dude (won't say his name and give him publicity) was out cause trouble, so he can film it and smear the protesters. He should have been arrested for inciting the crowd. Personally, I feel sorry for that officer who was trying to do the right thing. Unfortunately, he fell into this arrogant dudes trap.

Did Khan say protesters are on the right side of the law? Supporting terrorists is the right side of the law in london now! 😮

No Leroy, the minimum arrests is due to the fact the protests are peaceful with attendance from a broad range of society. Not because the police are doing a good job in a difficult circumstance.

The campaign against antisemitism.... that makes sense. He went there to get a reaction. In Jan 23 the UK charities Commission opens ‘regulatory compliance case’ after complaints that the charity is politically partisan. Need we say more.

Of course he went there to get a reaction. It was a legal/tactical experiment that got the police to make an admission that they believed that the crowd would be hostile to a group of people with Jewish appearance who didn't have an obvious affiliation to the march. After major blundering by senior ranks the police eventually got it right when they said 'being Jewish can never be a provocation'. It doesn't matter who ran the experiment. The results speak for themselves.
