And what a pleasure it is to hear a calm, reasonable discussion of this troubled situation, as hideously awful as the subject matter is. I like this moderator, and Chris Hedges is THE impeccable expert on Palestine, having received his 'trial by fire' in the belly of the beast known as extremist Zionism. The Real News did itself no branding favors by removing him from their site...including his entire past presence. I guess that rubbing out his record was sufficient for TRN's principle conservative donor. How worrisome that a handful of plutocratic zealots can control the conversation and thus enable genocide in front of our eyes.

Very insightful!! He is a Christian, theologically trained, a former war correspondent (I always think their views are important!) and jaded enough to know the human condition is not pretty. I commented earlier, but I did not mention, I stopped this interview several times to back it up to revisit what he said. I had quite an impact. Thanks to TRT for this interview of a North American Christian and journalist that is increasingly being marginalized. Govt by People's Referenda: Peaceful Occupation of our Capitals until it's installed, or run Mascot Candidates Single Issue Referendums with thresholds and a social contract means Communities can vote their own laws. A Public Authority can audit police and prosecute bad cops in our own courts. Nationalise resources and give Indigenous peoples the right of Sovereignty over them as Guardians. This can be achieved through a General Strike or Velvet Revolution, much like the Occupy movement, peacefully occupying State Buildings until a People's Mandate can be implemented. With the appropriate checks and balances, you could have a national digital forum where qualified professionals can debate the issues in a public setting without all the disinformation and bad faith antics, hatespeech etc. Any vote would need to pass the 70% threshold, with a veto or _rewrite_ vote needing 30%. The issues would be debated, the public educated, and then a vote taken. Votes that fail will have to wait a year before trying again. Any new proposal (Citizen Initiated Referendum) would have to reach a threshold of support before it made it onto the register. This would be subject to a Social Contract (New Constitution) that forbids human rights abuses and discrimination. That can be written in the same manner based on the core principles we all share. Councils and Boards could operate in the same fashion at Scale. It works in a way that obligates people to better educate themselves ( that is to use logic and evidence in their reasoning ) for a better understanding of the issues, and then take collective responsibility for the outcomes. As opposed to the divisive US v them scapegoating and bi-partisan finger pointing the current Capitalist Pyramid Scheme runs on. We need Government by People's Referenda, either through Mascot Candidates or Peaceful Occupation of the Capitals until one is established. Make it an annual event on Oct 14

It's a conscious tactic done in order to destroy context, and thus any thought on, or debate of, Israel's current actions. To imply that this conflict didn't start with Hamas would imply that both Palestinians' and Israeli's actions need to be historically analyzed, and the crimes of October 7 contextualized, which would inevitably lead to the deconstruction of Israel's tapestry of falsehoods. The whole point is to prevent any analysis of Israel's actions, putting all the onus of change, restraint, and responsibility, upon a victimized population that has no possibility to achieve it (due to the conscious actions conducted by Israel), as opposed to a powerful state entity and military apparatus that has functioning institutions, a relatively functional democracy (for some of their population), and the full backing of wealthy Western countries. It's also the reason why they will never refer to Hamas', or Palestinians', actions as complex, which they will for Israel and its army; and it's also the reason why they will focus discussion on "bringing the hostages home", but never expand that term to mean the 5000 or so Palestinian prisoners held by Israel. Again, this is a conscious strategy, that has been extensively thought-out by the Israelis, all done in order to legitimize what they're currently doing, but also what they've always done.

The focus on October 7 is the work of CNN, Fox, MSNBC, NPR, New York Times, and others in the corporate media. We have to unplug from their noise and look to those who tell the truth.

Oh, you mean when the major countries in the middle East desired to annihilate Israel. Or the genocidal (by their own admission) Hamas?

I love this particular interviewer. He asks really thoughtful and meaningful questions. I will miss Chris’s weekly shows at The Real News (who should change their name because it’s no longer true) but will always follow him wherever he is. His voice, especially during these times, is essential for those of us that seek the truth. Thank you to TRT for bringing on important guests like Chris.

The New Testament Kjv puts the Jews in the last book "Revelations" as being False. "Those that say they are Jews and are not". They are end time prophecy warnings. Very scary how these Jews are literally converts from Germany, Russia, and Ukraine who have no ancestors genetically linked to the 12 tribes of Israel. DNA tests have consistently proved that they are not of the Biblical lineage, not the Hebrews , not related to any of the 12 tribes of the Biblical Covenant.

The basis of antisemitism in Christian and Islamic society is the cultural appropriation of Judaism by these other religions. Cultural appropriation also results in hatred by the larger dominant society that is doing the appropriation for the smaller, weaker society that is being appropriated. In places like China and India where there is no cultural appropriation of Judaism, then there is no antisemitism.

@@allenmoses110 That's lame... "cultural appropriation"?? More like centuries of being called "Christ killers" and discriminated against. In Islam they are along with Christians "People of the Book". The Saudi version of Islam-- "Wahabi"-- is a new invention.

The governments of the United States, Latin America, Canada for decades have been forcing relocation on Native Americans/Indigenous/First Nations from their lands. I'm not talking about the 1800s, I'm talking about today in the modern era. It's not really because people in the west don't know, it's more because they don't care about native/indigenous people.

Never offers any solutions though, like a running commentary while we are tortured PRO PEACE 🕊️ PARTY FOR PEACE ✌️ Focus on the solution SIR: *Govt by Referenda 70/30 split.* By Mascot Party or *Velvet Revolution* Single Issue Referendums with thresholds and a social contract means Communities can vote their own laws. Make it an annual March on Oct 14. Take back the Temples under a single white flag! 🏳️

Chris announced on X that he was just abruptly sacked from his weekly interview program on “The Real News.” Very grateful this morning to TRT for inviting him on, his voice is so necessary, and yet the cowardly forces continue to try to suppress him. Seems 'They've' gained yet another scalp but will have lost a lot of friends. :( At the in which they are alienating people with humanity, they're going to 'need' their own state because the rest of the world won't trust them & they'll have no 'real' friends. The only ones they have atm are because they've bought them with their dirty $$'s. When/if you Unsubscribe from TRNN, make sure to leave a Comment giving your reason Why ...

Chris Hedges is a great man. He used his heart along with his intelligence. He went, physically, to the places where the crimes were being committed, and the lessons were to be learned. He wrote and spoke the truth of things, things usually hidden by the culprits of horror, regardless of the results to his personal pleasure and comfort. A great man. To be sure. Bless you, Sir.

Thank you Chris Hedges for your willingness to shed light on the plight of the Palestinians and Israel’s unending crimes against them. There has to be a way to force the Israel lobby to stand down and free America’s decision making on this conflict. We cannot continue with the enabling of a criminal project that’s been playing out for 75 years.
