I think he kind of afraid of really changing, getting rid of Parker, taking time off, as we all get scared of change. I think he was deep conflict as far as being married with a family vs. his more single life in Vegas.

Absolutely Amazing footage and spot on comments... He needed complete rest... A year off away from it all..... Maybe to help himself discover his Spiritual side, of which he had a thirst for, but unfortunately the money machine kept pulling him back and ultimately finished him off..

Great content. I am intrigued that it seems NO ONE is hunting down Sean Shaver. He followed Elvis on tour and in Las Vegas taking so many photos that Parker had people watching him so he DIDN'T take photos. Hidden cameras, hidden video cameras strategically focused on center stage. Paying people to swap seats with him for a better stage view and a promise of great photos of the show afterwards if they did. He put out some beautiful photographic books on Elvis that were limited in 1978-82. He claimed to have video taped many, many Las Vegas shows under the watchful eye of security, his stories are comical. He seems to have disappeared without a trace, along with his footage. What happened to THAT guy??

That scene in the movie with Austin as Elvis collapses and Parker says about that man has to be on that stage tonight I think says it all....the fact that Elvis had overdosed and then was performing and sounding great ( this show was always one of my favourite imports,) shows how gifted Elvis was but how ruthless people around him were....reg flags everywhere that this man needed help....TCB for EAP

Elvis had some down concerts in 77, but the man did some of his best concerts in 77. His voice was amazing that year and Elvis was very happy! Please don’t believe that Elvis was tired! David awesome video as usual. I always enjoyed his melody with flip flop and fly and wished he performed it later on in 76 and 77. Im leaving was a beautiful song that he quit performing live as well. Other sixties songs that would have been good to hear would have been Such a night, it hurts me, indescribably blue, or maybe a concert version of so close yet so far from paradise.

Man!!!! Thank you so much from sharing. New footage/photos are amazing, but this is special to me. I was born and raised in St. Louis, so anything about Elvis in STL is great. This 6/28/73 show in STL was less than 24 hours before my mom was born just several blocks from the Kiel. As sad as the OD story is, I was morbidly grateful that (if it had to happen), it happened in my town. I have a big, beautiful photo from this show framed in a nice, bright, golden frame, along with a ticket stub from this stage. I have by dying to see footage from this show, other than the 5 seconds of horrible-quality video I’ve seen before. Thank you so very much for sharing this!!! Made my day.

You are so right about the songs he sang in concert. He seemed to believe that all we wanted to hear was the old classic rock songs, and that may have been true with new younger fans who saw the movie "Elvis" and were introduced to those songs from the past. But those of us who have followed him all the way from the 50's and 60's and are familiar with those songs from lesser known albums such as Elvis Is Back, Pot Luck, Elvis For Everyone, and so on - wouldn't it have been fantastic if he had sung some of the blues and jazz from those LPs - "Reconsider Baby" would have been a ball-breaker on stage😝😝😝😝😝

First off - this footage is SO good and so precious. We see that Elvis still had "it" even as his issues mounted. Secondly and from your comments - My BIG problem with "Destined to Die Young" is that is finds a convenient reasons to explain away or justify the pharmacology that was inundating Elvis's system at toxic levels. We don't yet know whether Elvis suffered from a debilitating hereditary condition (as by a fan with NO medical background!). We do know what the pills were doing to him. I don't let the pills take away anything from the man. We all see who he was when not completely under their spell. We know he was kindhearted, generous, immensely talented, sensitive, and a musical savant with immense charisma.

This was a great video absolutely fantastic footage I appreciate you and Peter for sharing this. I just want to bring your attention to Elvis 8th degree black belt in karate you said that you don't believe that Elvis was a genuine 8th degree black belt I don't blame you for that assumption but I have been studying and teaching martial arts for over 30 years now. My martial art was based on the TCB all techniques into one. I have founded the TCB martial arts system in 1997. and for my 1st Degree I certified by Master Kang Rhree. I was also appointed a Kempo Karate Instructor in Australia by Mr Jeff Speakman. All martial art ranks and degrees are accomplished achieved on different objectives not all grades are how tough you are or kicking ass. Rank and degree achievements can be attained or achieved based on your contribution to the World of Martial Arts. example for my first black belt i had to demonstrate my skills and abilities aside from my comprehension of what I have learnt and yes for my black belt a I had to do some ass kicking. Today I'm a 7th degree black belt every rank I achieved after my black belt was on my continuous contribution in the martial art industry continuous studying martial art and teaching martial arts and over the years I have become a leading martial arts industry authority in the combat sports as a recognised governing body. national team developments in various martial art sports such as kung fu karate Jiu Jitsu kickboxing Pankration and MMA. Head and director of multiple sports organisations. To be a martial artist does not mean you have to be a fighter or a great fighter. To be a martial artist you have to be a humble courteous righteous person and who can handle himself given the situations that coles for. Finally I would like to say Elvis was the man who introduced me to the World of Martial Arts. Elvis was a good black belt on all counts and well deserved of the 8th Degree Black Belt.

I just might hold the record for the youngest Elvis Show attendee.. My mom lacked a Babysitter one day..maybeee..'69-70ish??..so on her way in to her shift dealing 21, she dropped my off with her friend & 2 door down apartment neighbor Midge, who was the head cocktail waitress @ the same casino, The Sahara in South Shore Lake Tahoe. Midge propped me at the end of the bar where the ladies came and went with the drinks, etc., fed me anything I wanted on the menu, and I watched the entire show from there..maybe 30-40ft from the stage..I was 5 or 6.

The full footage from the small excerpt you showed at 4:06 has to be one of the cleanest pieces of footage I’ve seen of Elvis. Surely its been remastered? I think I’m starting to understand peoples “dislike” for Elvis’ jumpsuits in the context of them distracting me from his “natural Beauty”.. I’ve realised that half of the time I’m watching Elvis, I’m not even looking at him, I’m just in awe of his jumpsuits. I’m not as familiar with his jumpsuits as a lot might be, but his white turquoise two-piece suit (I know he wore it on August 4 1972) just fit him so well, mainly down to the white suit jacket, i do think he looked even better with a simple white suit and flashy shirt, rather than all the colourful studs and capes.. (I think this is one of his last tours where he used his cape?) I’m getting off topic here, it’s always nice to see new footage, in nice quality also. Seems like an energetic crowd that night which Elvis would feed off

Yes Michael I’m a fan of a more simpler type outfit. I do like the jumpsuits but I also think less is more and the multicolor shirts with the slacks were a good look in 1972.

I think his demeanor was different in the 73 Aloha show because he was really dried out off the pills as I recall in an interview I believe from Jerry Schilling or one of the other close members. Immediately after the aloha concert he was back on the pills as reported by this person and it was very sad they said. 1973 turned out not to be such a great year for this man. Between hospitalizations a drug overdose and excessive weight gain by June 1973 that carried right through to the end of his life. Instead of riding the wave from the success of the 73 aloha Show, he spiraled out of control shortly after and never looked back.

Yeah. Maybe it had something to do with him depriving himself of pills yo get right for Aloha, that he had a rebound effect? Just like when people die for a long time, then going back plus more.

Hello sir ....i have often thought that the ftd label could have released or should i say could release footage on dvds along side the concerts and studio sessions if they could strike up a deal with the elvis estate......as for Elvis exaggerations many books have elvis as so ill after his last concert he flew home and it was a matter of time ..... Do me a favour....the same Elvis in aug 1977 who went to the amusement park ...and to the cinema ....and how on earth did he get out of his sick bed to drive to the dentist ......yes drive ...apparently he was so medicated ...and also how did he dress himself and decide to have a game of squash .....aka racquetball . .......over exaggerated your not kiddin..... 📀🎼🎙👑

I have both the Uniondale and St Louis complete shows. The footage is not professional but 8mm like you have on here. They are good shows that I watch again from time to time. I have tons of footage like this, mostly 8mm, from 1969 to 1977.
