Getting about 46 mpg and averaging 630 miles between fill ups!! It is really amazing! Plus I have now driven 30 miles on the freeway in one trip and the adaptive cruise control makes driving easier, using the Apple car play, or ford pass apps like Ford+Alexa also made this a more enjoyable ride... I could play Alexa games like “who wants to be a millionaire” or hear my tunes or switch over to Apple car play and listen to my podcasts, or music on Apple Music... the Sirius radio also lets me listen to my favorite teams local broadcasts of my favorite sports, and I can locate the least expensive gas on my route... all really fantastic useful technology... Ford 360 suite of safety features are nice, a little hard to get used too like a seat belt must have been when we first started wearing those, but I do like the blind spot monitoring and centering in my lane, also like the auto emergency breaking but hope I don’t have to use it!

In December 2019, I traded in my 2006:Ford Escape Hybrid and bought the 2020 Ford Escape SE Sport Hybrid. I’m averaging 40mpg overall; have achieved as much as 54mpg on multiple trips. A couple of brief trips--2 or 3 miles--showed 78mpg. As I’m planning some very long trips, I bought a full-size spare tire and rim for the lower cargo area--the area that holds the 12v battery. So, my mileage will drop slightly because of the increased weight. I’ve driven about 1200 miles since picking it up, and I’ve filled the car twice (approx 11 gallons), and the dealer topped it off for free (6 gallons) during a visit for a inspection. I think the hybrid is the best model. And if you can’t afford the Titanium (as I could not), you should consider the SE Sport. I’m happy with it!

I've had my Titanium for 10 months now and still love it. It's fast, comfortable & feature -rich. What other budget suv has automated parking that finds it's own spot, then either reverses or parallel parks in the spot & also pulls itself out of a tight spot; all hands-free. The driving modes & lane centering + adaptive cruise control make traffic completely stress-free & actually relaxing. Downside is I hate the rotary dial gear shift and the push button drive modes that force you to cycle through them all to find the one you want each time.

Of all the negativity this new Escape has received and with all those presumptions I took a test drive and I am pretty impressed with the new Escape, Its improved a whole lot, than previous gen ones, compared with Rav4 and CRV, I dont think its a much better buy, but if one loves driving, Escape s definitely better than Honda and Big T
@1989rs5004 жыл бұрын
@Nobody Too You Well I know more than that, but my point was not about Eacapes roots or past. I see a lot of people complain about how new Escape looks and even more complaining about poor plastics etc inside Escape True the Escapes fit finish and attention to detail kind of falls short of Honda,Toyota,Hyundai,VW,new Mazda products, but my experience driving Escape proved that, all these soft touch plastics etc are skin deep, the Escape is more than that, there jas been solid engineering for the Fords MK IV Focus based C platform, thats shows in how agile and smart it drives, it definitely drivers firmer than rivals which again might put off some soft floaty SUV lovers, but once it got into freeway speeds the Escapes control,handling,comfort were are nothing short of excellent, again not a big difference from Hondas and Toyotas but, better it is, and the power from those ecoboost motors mated with 10 speed ATs too were satisfying, I drove the 1.5i3 ecoboost, at idle, there were some minor vibes, but way too less to get noticed. And once past 2500 rpm even the 1'5 had more than enough grunt to pull 4-5 passengers. For the drive loop I did the Escape 1'5 gave a reasonable 28 mpg as well, that too with 4 on board and some aggressive driving.

Appearance is only a matter of opinion. I've owned a 4Runner for 18 years, and you're right about Toyota's rep for long-term reliability, but, while ready for something new, the new RAV4's awkward, clunky-looking (to me) exterior is a deal-breaker. I'd also prefer the way the Escape sends power to the rear wheels mechanically, rather than electronically. There's really nothing from Toyota that interests me, anymore.

I miss the days when cars had front bumpers. It gave the front end a "finished" look. The reason they disappeared is that having a front bumper was too "aggressive". So we had to get PC and make the cars more "gentle" and "kinder". Of course, this ignores the fact that the rest of the car will probably injure or kill a pedestrian without a front bumper. But it's the same nonsense thinking that cause the hood ornaments to be removed.

One thing I didn't like about your review was that you were a bit misleading about the 2.0L engine requiring premium gas. It does not..it runs perfectly without it...with a minor power reduction of 6-7 hp. Premium is recommended, for maximum performance, but in no way should this influence one's choice to get the 2.0L engine....so its not a minus...considering most of the competition cannot even come close to the power of this engine.

Currently driving a 2016 Edge Sport which I really enjoy. Ford needs to come out with a truly sporty Escape ST and it could actually compete with thé Macan at a much more reasonable price point. If they eliminated the glass roof, lowered it down by an inch or so bumped the power to 300 and give us an active exhaust note. In this segment there is no real competition from the Japanese or Koreans for a truly sporty offering. Ford can do it, just look at the Edge and Explorer ST versions.

The 2015, I have to put the seats down for golf bags. For perspective, our second car is a 2014 Acura ILX and I can fit two golf bags in the trunk. It’s silly I can’t do that in an SUV. The passenger seats are also very uncomfortable in the 2015 model. I won’t complain about them mechanically because they were great. It’s just s lot of other little gripes. The Escape 1.5 turbo engine falls behind the Japanese competition for the following reasons: - analog tachometer (CRV offers digital) -the engine is not peppy like the turbo CRV engine -only 4.2 inches LCD display (CRV offers 7 inches) -No remote start (CRV offers a remote start) - offers less safety features than what CRV, RAV4 and Forester offer. -lease payments are high (compared to CRV)
@damariuseaton66784 жыл бұрын
Rida Al Osman The CRV has oil consumption issues and a CVT which is enough to put me away from it. Plus, the 1.5 turbo and can be had with the digital tach and the 8 inch screen. Plus the 3 cylinder can tow 500 pounds more than the CRV and the possibly the RAV4.
@ridaalosman80304 жыл бұрын
Damarius Eaton I agreed with you that Honda cars in general suffer from oil consumption issues. However, I had a 2107 Honda CRV, and currently own a 2020 CRV. I haven’t noticed any oil consumption issues. I don’t understand the whole fuss about CVT. Some car manufacturers offer 9/10 speed automatic transmission as an alternative to CVT to save fuel but the transmission is almost never smooth (always chasing the right gear). Only the 2.0 turbo engine can tow more than the CRV or RAV4, which I believe cost 41K. For that price, I’d rather buy a premium brand.
@damariuseaton66784 жыл бұрын
Rida Al Osman The fuss about the CVT is that they are proven to be less reliable, and I just wouldn't trust a CVT Isn't the CRV towing capacity 1,500 pounds? The 1.5 Escape tows 2,000 pounds. I'm not sure what the RAV4 tows, but mind you, these are Canadian dollars, the Escape doesn't run that much in the states. The SEL can be opinioned with the 2.0, making it >$30,000, but right at mark.

I always felt tbe face doesn't felt finished. It's too roundish and should be more edgy like the back. More chiseled like the 2016 Ford Edge/Explorer.

Ford is so capable of screwing up a good thing. This was due three years ago, and it's still not up to CRV or RAV4 standards

Exterior looks great, and I like the larger size, but they still look cheap on the inside. Especially those door panels. Two competitors that blow it away, insofar as the interior is concerned, are the Hyundai Santa Fe, and the Subaru Outback.

According to ford.ca the 1.5L is an i-4 engine. Oh, and the 2.0L needs premium fuel to achieve rated power figures. Important piece of information considering fuel prices nowadays. Also, your reported fuel economy @3:55 is the 1.5L i4. The 2.0L is 10.4/7.5, again according to their website (www.ford.ca/suvs-crossovers/escape/models/)

Don’t like the look of the Cayenne either. I’m sure the Porsche drives well tho. The Toyota, Honda sell well because of reliability, period. Ford never owned up to that rep and has never made any indication their products have changed.
