In my opinion the diamond door design needs to go. The tech panel needs to be integrated into the dash and the dash needs a nonskid cubby.
@DriveAndBeDriven4 жыл бұрын
I totally hear what you're saying, Rebecca! The diamond door design is definitely a rather interesting implementation... Whether or not I LOVE the design implementation is 50/50... But, design preferences are subjective. I am sure there are some people that probably like it. In my opinion, it's neat that it matches the diamond elements on the exterior, but also, it could've been implemented in a better manner. Also, regarding the infotainment screen, I think it looks nice sitting on top of the dash. It makes for pretty effortless eye-travel. But, I totally under what you mean. A screen embedded in the dash would look much cleaner. Furthermore, the dash definitely needs a non-skid cubby. I believe I mentioned that in my full review (which will be airing soon)! Let me know if you have any questions. I appreciate you stopping by and leaving a comment. Stay subscribed for more reviews coming soon! Awesome, Ghady! So happy you enjoyed this one! I tried to be as fair as possible, but yes, there are definitely some areas I would like to see Ford rectify in the future. All in all, the Escape is an overall solid offering in the Compact Utility Vehicle Segment. Especially for those looking for lots of cargo versatility, lots of freedom as far as powertrains go, and impressive driver assistance safety tech! Looking forward to your next video too, man! One other point. Headlights not LED. If you ever drive in a snow storm you will hate led lights. Because they do not get warm so the lights will be covered by snow. How safe is that?
@DriveAndBeDriven3 жыл бұрын
Tom, thanks so much for leaving another comment. Here in South Florida, we never experience snow. In fact, we will be lucky to experience temperatures under 50 degrees on any given day. LOL! But, you bring up a really good point that I never really thought about. Indeed! LED headlights tend to be more efficient with their usage of energy. Therefore, they allocate more of their energy to light, as opposed to heat. Halogens (which are still extremely common) provide much more heat, and as you mentioned, will defrost headlights on those cold snowy days. So, in your case, halogen headlights would make a lot more sense. While, in my case, I would much rather prefer LEDs. Of course, to each his own, but I really appreciate you bringing up this very interesting topic. Maybe auto manufacturers should introduce headlight housings that heat-up like windshield/mirror defrosters. That would certainly solve this issue. :) Once again, many thanks for leaving your input. Let me know if you have any questions. I'd be glad to chat more about the new Ford Escape. Take care, and please remain subscribed, Tom! *~DriveAndBeDriven* _"Fueled by Dreams, Driven by Passion"_

Great work! This really kept my attention because I couldn't wait to see what was next! I'm with you on the headlight situation... any new car costing over 20k and halogen bulbs seems crazy nowadays! Ford will hopefully fix that with the refresh in a few years. Keep up the great work man!

Marcus, I am very impressed with the quality of your video and your ability to communicate clearly. As a teacher, I find these qualities very commendable. You bring youth and energy to your presentation and this is important because most of the reviewers that I have followed are older and white like me and I truly appreciate your angle on the Escape. I agree with almost all of your likes and dislikes of the Escape as my 2020 is set to be delivered in the next few days. One thing that I thought you would pick on a little more is the Escape's lack of wireless charging up front like they have in the Baby Bronco and I ordered the Titanium trim and even at that price you have to plug in your cell phone. Not a huge issue, but in 2020-21, you would think that would become more standard. Kevin O

Kevin, many thanks for this thoughtful comment! I truly appreciate all of your compliments. I'm so glad that you enjoyed the quality of this video and my level of communication. This, coming from a teacher, means even more to me! Thank you so much! I am ecstatic that you enjoy the level of youthfulness and energy that I bring with my reviews. I try to do all of this while still upholding a commendable level of professionalism. Also, yes! That's an excellent point to bring up. I should've definitely mentioned the lack of available wireless charging. Like you said, it would be acceptable if that feature wasn't available in a base model Escape, but in a range-topping 2020/2021 Titanium, it is quite the oversight on Ford's end. Thanks for pointing that out! Even though I tried to keep this video to just 5 "misses", I believe that definitely deserved to be on this list. Thanks for sharing your insight, Kevin! Truly. By the way, have you received your 2020 Escape yet? I'm excited to hear how much you're enjoying it so far! Please keep me updated, sir. I will be sure to reply much sooner this time around (my deep apologies for the longer than usual delay). Sweet comment there, Kevin. And, I agree about the no wireless charging, except that until Android Auto and Apple Car Play can work without being plugged in (like, why can't they?) then I'm not too pained by plugging in since I'd be doing it anyway.
@DriveAndBeDriven3 жыл бұрын
That's a great point! Having wireless phone charging would be a neat nicety to have, especially within a vehicle of this price caliber. But, due to the fact that AndroidAuto/AppleCarPlay is still not wireless, it sort of mildly mitigates the *urgent* desire for wireless charging (since your phone will be plugged in most of the time anyways)... Either way, I would still like to see wireless phone charging (and wireless phone projection) for those that prefer not to use AndroidAuto/AppleCarPlay via direct wire tethering. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Please let me know if you have any questions regarding the Escape. Also, feel free to subscribe! I really like the Escape, but as you mentioned there are some things missing. The most important to me are headlights - most competitors have LEDs as standard, and some even offer adaptive LEDs... Also hope Ford adds the ST-line trim!
@DriveAndBeDriven4 жыл бұрын
Agreed! The halogen headlights would personally be a turn-off for me. Especially considering the price of my particular model (north of $36K). I would've honestly been happy if LED lights were at least optional in some type of "Advanced Lighting Package"... Even though the majority of its competitors offer it as STANDARD equipment. But, this Escape sure does have quite a few areas to commend. I HOPE FORD CONSIDERS BRINGING A ST-LINE TRIM SOON! Even though this 2.0T is pretty peppy! Definitely one of the spriest entries hands-down. *~DriveAndBeDriven* _"Fuel by Dreams, Driven by Passion"_

My main items were: suv; awd; hybrid. So, that included a lot of the competition, such as the RAV 4. The Escape won out due to the RAV 4 being sold out at the local dealer. It came with a spare tire, seems a lot of the hybrid suv's are no longer doing a spare, but have a patch kit. I also like the room in the back, I believe it is roomier than some of the competition. Speaking of room, I am 6 ft, I like my leg room. From what I have seen other suv's can be a bit cramped. The mpg is also very impressive, I am getting around 44 in the city. My main dislike is the limited information screen. Coming from a Jeep Cherokee, this is very lacking.

Well, I must say that you did a great job AND educated me on a few things. I did not know vehicles came with heated steering wheels. What a cool feature! Also, I didn't know the device exists that indicates someone being left in the backseat. I think you were quite hard on them for no cooling seats :- ). I'd prefer self-parking over cooling seats, any day! LOL! Great review and information, as always!!!
@DriveAndBeDriven4 жыл бұрын
I am so glad that you learned some new things from this video! Yes! Some cars feature heated steering wheels and even rear occupant alert systems! It's crazy how advanced (and feature-rich) vehicles are becoming nowadays. I totally understand where you're coming from... Although cooled seats may seem like a bit of a nitpick, I find it rather disheartening that people in warmer climates have to be subject to heated features (while they are rarely used thanks to the BRIGHT sun and constant humidity). LOL! Indeed! I can't deny that having self-parking is a rather neat feature. Definitely a rarity amongst cars within this segment!!! Bravo, Ford! Thanks so much for leaving such a detailed comment! Wow! Many thanks for the compliments, Michael! 🔥 I hope you enjoyed the format of this review, and gained lots of information about this new-gen Escape. Between the Escape, new Rogue, and the RAV4 (based on styling alone), I'd probably lean more towards the Rogue. I really like what Nissan did with the new styling. I much prefer it over the more "car-like" front fascia on the Escape I have here. Also, the interior could use a bit more refining for my liking (but nothing too HUGE of an issue)... I agree! I am leaning towards Kia or Hyundai for my next car purchase. Ford always seems lightyears behind the S Korean automakers. I do wish the Korean mfg cars had the air con seats in the budget models. That would be great in S FL heat. Keep up the great reviews on youtube. Your top 5 reviews are very helpful. I must say the most helpful on youtube.

Thanks again for commenting, Mitchell! It makes me so happy to see you in the comment section of all my latest videos. Glad you're enjoying my content! I totally understand where you're coming from. Kia/Hyundai definitely seem to excel in certain areas where Ford seems to be a bit less advanced in, but also vice versa (to a certain extend of course). South Florida heat can be brutal at times, and honestly, I am quite surprised that more cars don't offer cooled seating. Hopefully, more brands consider the warmer/more humid climates here in North America (and possibly start offering "Warm Climate" packages). 😅 By the way, your compliments are truly heartwarming. They make me want to continue producing auto reviews for the public. Thank you so much for your support! Truly! I've had '13, '15, '17, and '19 Escape Titanium's. The '21 has the cheapest low-end interior of all. Hard plastic door panels that will rub on my knees especially during aggressive cornering, but all the time. You're right about the door handles too. Mazda CX-5 is much nicer, also has Ventilated seats in GTR trim, but lacks park assist, backup camera with arc lines, and some parking sensors (unless you get Signature trim). Each car has + & -, but the Escape looks cheap inside, even in Titanium trim. No CD player either. Subaru has them in Crosstrek.

The interior of the new 2020/2021 Escape has a few commendable materials, but the rest is less than subpar. I guess this would be "ok" in an entry-levek sub-compact car. But, in this price range, you'd ought to search elsewhere if you value high-quality soft-touch materials that exude a borderline luxurious nature (i.e. the CX-5 and a few others). Also, yes! Glad you agree. I thought I was the only one that noticed... But, those door handles are quite oddly pieced together. Hopefully Ford's quality control catches that in future model years. 😬 But yes, absolutely! Every single car has its pros and cons, but the interior on the new-gen Escape definitely needs a revamp asap. Thanks for commenting! I hope you enjoyed this review and subscribed. I have more awesome car reviews coming out very soon. So, please stay tuned! Take care, Alan. 👍🏼 *~DriveAndBeDriven* _"Fueled by Dreams, Driven by Passion!"_

I really enjoyed this video. I agree that cooled/ventilated front seats along with LED headlamps and foglamps should come with the SEL or SEL Technology Package model. An actual real leather-wrapped steering wheel on models below the Titanium Elite would also be welcome.

I remember you telling me how you were interested in the Escape Hybrid, but ended up going for the C-Max instead. Would you still consider the Escape Hybrid or are you waiting for more EV offerings to emerge in the coming years? Thanks again for your support, man! I am not disappointed by the lack of cooled seats. I had them in my Lincoln and they were annoying because of the fans. Whenever they ran the fans would run making a loud noise. The didn't heat up very well when the car was cool inside so all they did was blow cold air through the seat in winter when you needed them most, at start up. I do agree about the headlights on the lower trim models, especially the SEL with projector headlamps and halogen bulbs. These should be HID.

My 2021 Escape Titanium hybrid has an alert to check for rear seat occupants. RAV4 does NOT offer ventilated seats across all trims. It’s only available on Limited trim and only when you pay for the most expensive option package which puts the RAV4 $5K more than a comparable Escape Titanium trim. Also, the title of your video says 2021, but you actually reviewed a 2020 model. 2021 models don’t have the dimples in the door panels and don’t have an Ecoboost badge on the tailgate.

We actually ended up getting a Fusion SE AWD in your color and it is gorgeous! Jet black on the interior with silver accents too. It was the last one we could find in our area and in the color I wanted so badly. Looks sexy bright blue in the day like yours and then at night takes on a cobalt blue look which is so awesome too. Have you ever driven or reviewed one of those? I ask because I had an issue driving out and am trying to get as much feedback as I can on what is normal. Thx

Awesome!! Congrats on your new purchase. The Velocity Blue color sure is spectacular looking. 🤩 Also, those silver accents definitely help spice up the cabin. 👍🏼 Indeed. I totally understand! First things first, don't get too pressured. :) At the end of the day, it will be your car, so it is understandable to have a tough time deciding. _Here's my little recommendation breakdown for your current situation:_ If you want more kick, and a more strikingly BRIGHT car, I'd pick the *Velocity Blue 2.0L.* If you want more kick, but not too strikingly BRIGHT, I'd say go for the *Persian Green 2.0L.* If you want less of a BOLDY flashy paint shade, yet better fuel economy, I'd pick the *Persian Green 1.5L.* If you still want a more BOLD/striking paint shade, yet better fuel economy, I'd go for the *Velocity Blue 1.5L.* To be quite honest, both colors look great! But, the Velocity Blue is more eye-catching from far away. While, the Persian Green is more captivating when upclose. Go with whichever speaks the MOST to you, or if pricing is your main motive, go for the one that offers the best rebate. 👍🏼 Once again, thanks so much for commenting! Anymore questions? By all means, let me know! Hopefully, my commentary has helped you out so far. Please keep me posted regarding your new car purchasing journey. The rear seat alert system is standard equipment on all models of the human. It is called eyes. If you don't have eyes that function you should not be driving.
@DriveAndBeDriven3 жыл бұрын
Hi, Tom! Yes. You got that right. Everyone should make sure to check twice before exiting the vehicle. Unfortunately, this often slips peoples' mind... Luckily, rear occupant alert systems help prevent this from happening. But, of course, this can be easily remediated by people just checking twice. Either way, having the system is a plus because you never know when that unforeseen event can occur. I appreciate you leaving a comment, and clicking on this video. I got a '21 Escape recently and it's been a HUGE disappointment. Not sure why so many people like theirs in the comments section. I don't care about the plastic interior. It feels like I'm driving on a flat tire, the suspension is so bad. It shocks me that he noted the smooth ride as a hit, when in fact it's one of the worst aspects of the car. The transmission feels like it's about to go bad, since it struggles to shift. It shifts better in Sport Mode, but it still is sloppy. The ride is overall rough and feels like a 10+ year old car, NOT a new car. For the money, there's better cars out there.

Air-conditioned seats are a scam. Pretty much every manufacturer of the electonic fan passive cooling systems disable the air-conditioned seats if the internal temperature registers above 90 degrees. The thought process being they don’t want to be blowing hot air on you. So pretty much when you actually need it it doesn’t work.
