Happy memories, my Mother was born in "Brock" Oct 1929, Great-grandad Tom BULL was the Blacksmithy in the village in the 1930's and a small smithy in Lyndhurst. Lovely little church St Nicholas, like Downton.. must come and hug that tree..x My grandmother MAY ran the Railway Pub in 1929 with her Father, they put on the Point to point horse shows with refreshments back in the day..My Family lived next door to a member of the Mills Family, in Pikes hill.

Another great walk, Dave, and that one really brought back memories for me. In 1962 (is that really 62 years ago - seems impossible) a young lady and I rode all the way from Worthing in Sussex to spend a few days touring the forest on my Lambretta motor scooter - not the most comfortable means of travel, but it was all we had. I especially remember the area around Brockenhurst and Boldre, and luckily we were blessed with good weather for the entire trip. A truly beautiful area!

Beautiful walk. The woodland looked nice and shady and I loved the way you worked the pub in at the end!! Regarding the time taken for your videos I am sure I speak for many of your viewers to say how much we appreciate all the hours filming and research you put in to delight us. Logan is very patient too and a star in his own right!!!

What a lovely walk Dave on such a beautiful day too. The countryside looked stunning and you came across some wonderful properties the churches along the way. I loved seeing all the deer, what a treat. It's made me want to walk the river, which you mentioned you filmed, and I'm going to try and find your video of it. Thanks for sharing this with us all Dave 🥰

Thanks Lynn. There certainly seem to be a lot more Deer about in the New Forest these days when compared to only a few years ago.

Many thanks for the memories - we did the first part of that walk from St Nicholas' Church to Dawkins Bottom a number of times during our 5 year stay in New Milton. Sometimes just to see the bluebells. Many thanks again - btw Lemon and Honey is good too.

Thank you Michael. I have just upgraded my computer from a Lenovo (Windows 10 & 8G RAM) to an Acer Swift 14 (Windows 11 & 16G RAM). It seems to default to quite vivid colours (particularly the "greens") in the edit..... I am still trying to get to grips with it!

Hello Dave at 2.40 in the church I thought you were going to say down here on the left is the... SNOOKER TABLE! That would have been a hoot in a church. Snookered! Hope the throat get's better
@DaveFord5 ай бұрын
Thanks Martin. The throat doesn't actually hurt but is more of an inconvenience than anything else. Annoying , as with the recent good weather I have been more active out filming so it has affected 4 videos so far! I think that I have nearly shifted it though .... after nearly three weeks!

Well done for soldiering-on Dave, that pint at the end is certainly the best remedy! Your walk to Boldre brought back memories for me. When my partner lived in Wimborne we would often drive out to Boldre and Pilley of a weekend summer evening to take in either the Red Lion or the Fleur De Lys, or maybe both 😋. Both provided excellent ales and food. Hope your throat (well-oiled) has improved.

Both the Red Lion & Fleur De Lys are both fine pubs to visit for sure.

April and May are my favourite months of the year Dave. It’s always interested me how you manage to give the appearance that the south of England is deserted during your walks!

Being the Saturday of the early May Bank Holiday weekend, it was fairly "busy" that day ..... there was a lot of "hanging around" waiting for folk to walk on by! But everyone was happy & friendly - making it a lovely walk.
