Agreed. I have a Korean tribute ASAT I bought about 15 yrs ago from a shop that no longer exists. Hard to find any local dealers here in Canada. But the guitars are amazing! Wish there were more around so we could actually try them out. Fantastic guitars and more interesting (and better IMO) than Fenders that you see everywhere.

Referring to G&L Tributes as "Affordable" is technically accurate, but I think of the Tribute line as the "Best Value" available in electric guitars. They play like 3 times their price and nothing priced lower can come close to the quality of components and the build. I have 3 G&L's (2 Tributes and 1 Fullerton), and by far these are the finest "out of the box" guitars I've ever experienced. Now with adding to this line, they have only improved those measures. Last, I will say thanks to Anderton's for backing the G&L brand. The company you keep, says a lot about yourself!

MFD pickups are amazing, huge fan. However, they will make you use the tone and volume knob, because they pick up absolutely everything that string is doing. Especially great for rich clean tones, but under distortion a little rolling back of volume and tone to 9 each takes some of the harshness out. Of the MFD pickups, the ASAT Special is the big monster, and my favorite.

Just depends on what you want really. To the same effect, the Mexican Strats are built as well as any American-made guitar and lack none of the quality in terms of hardware, AND you get the classic authentic Fender style, headstock, branding, and sound. I'd take a Mexican Fender Player strat over any of these personally, but I can see why someone with 50 guitars would buy one of these for their original styles. Plus, the Fender will ALWAYS have much better resale value, since there's always a million people looking to buy a used Fender Strat.

Can anyone PLEASE tell me the brand and model of any direct replacement tuners for the Tribute series G&L guitars?? I just bought a 2021 Legacy AND S-500.... well built, awesome hardware, awesome pickups..etc.. BUT the stock 2 pin tuners BLOW. USA G&L tuners are NOT compatible. Fender tuners are NOT compatible. Even the Hipshot "plate" thing doesn't work. Surely some brand has to sell some sort of upgrade to these junk tuners. I hate to sell these guitars over the tuners being junk.... so hopefully someone knows of something. I'm cool with locking or standard tuners. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Its about air circulation and "sound" reverberation within the body. The reverberation interacts with the wood, bracing, etc. Hence the reason you see it in classical instruments such as cellos, upright bass, violins, etc. If you ever get to try one, strum a chord and immediately place your ear on top of the sound hole. You'll feel the air "rushing" out. Different sound hole shapes (and wood combinations) can affect the 'tone" that is ultimately produced...in tandem with the pick ups of course.
@JuanEsquivel-ex8nv
@JuanEsquivel-ex8nv 3 жыл бұрын
@Jimmy John I mean, with classical instruments they are fully hollowbody with only a small stick in the middle of the two faces right under the bridge, so you get a lot more of that sound. With an f hole on a tele, its a lot less exaggerated

Don't buy a S500 (Strat type) the neck is awful, has sharp square edges and is a tad wide and bulky, the tone system is all over the place and will take a while to sort- having a bass cut and treble cut will blow your mind whilst playing. Only pickups are made in USA. Bridge (aka dual fulcrum vibrato) is not and other spare parts specs differs slightly (for electronics too). Anyway I love and (used to) share my Tribute S-500 in jam sessions. Best sounding strat ever, have to play with volume and tone knob for best sounds. Very enjoyable as is but just great after luthier setup (only US ones are pleked). Played a US custom build with satin maple neck that was great but not sure worth the price gap as the indonesians are cool enough. Can't see any G&L S-500 US in Andertons reviews... best kept secret ?

(note: I am in a Johnny Cash Tribute band, I know I should have a Esquire or Solemente ) I have flat wound Daddario strings wound G. My conclusion at the same volume level the US made is louder has bit more of a twang. But that being said the Tribute still sounds fantastic and will sit beside me onstage ready to use if a string breaks. I originally l went with the G&L ASAT USA because I bought a Fender TELE USA and it had a drowning A string changed stings, had it set up, couldn't get rid of it. So i sent it back and Picked up the G&L asat Fulton USA. The quality on the G&L was superior to that of the tele.

Hi have a Tribute Comanche- -7 tonal options!! It’s also alittle fatter than a regular strat so has the fat strat sound- really the only guitar you’ll ever need has jazz tones, strat, tele. Only thing I’d change is the nut and put on a graph Tex so whammy works better- gorgeous maple flame cap with z- coils for only 5 bills with case!!!!

Isn't the pickup sound difference from a Fender Telecaster the reason that G&L make both "Special" and "Classic" versions? I prefer the Special from what i've heard so far, precisely because it sounds fuller.

I should send you both a bill for cleaning my living room and quite possibly my drawers. A couple or few drops of pee may have found freedom once Pete kicked up his leg to "the return of the Mack ... Once again".

I presently own 2 G&Ls and love them both. They are so much more than the comparable Fender. If you want a more Fender tone, slam the pickups down as low as they will go in the body and roll back the volume a touch to get seriously into Fender-land. With that said, the comparable Fender cannot do what the G&L can do.

I love the sound of these guitars...I meet someone in the late 80s who played a G&L, who was a big suzie quatro fan...never heard a bad g&L guitar...they all have great sound very full and fat sort of sound

It's sad, that when a person starts and creates a company, that when it becomes big, the one who started it can be turned down on certain designs. I would say, I'm gonna do it anyway. I guess though, he'd already sold the company by then. If I ever start a company, I will never have a board of directors and all that. I'd make sure I would have all of the money up front, to take care of everything, so I wouldn't need a partner. I guess I wouldn't put it on the stock exchange either, that way no one could buy me out.

I just bought a Comanche Tribute. It had some issues out of the box, and I'm slowly working through them. I'm hoping that this guitar will be a good one.

The G&L tributes have long been very hit or miss. Some are great and many others are plagued with unfixable issues. Hopefully they are stepping up the quality control.

I’m looking at them and seriously considering one. Do you have any specific examples of problems that occur with them?

most cortek indonesia guitars are like that,g and l tributes,squier classic vibes and a whole load of other mid budget,entry level guitars they make,they churn out about a 3rd of the worlds guitars,bound to be lack of quality control,had both usa g and l legacy and g and l tribute asat bluesboy,the usa is fine,still have it,the tribute had a few flaws,sold it after a few months.

Does the Comanche still have the push/pull one the tone pot to allow you to use the neck/bridge combination. I don't remember Lee mentioning this on this year's model.

After watching this video again I noticed something that Lee got wrong. He said that there wasn't previously a tribute Comanche model but there is because I have one :) love that tobacco burst colour. Definitely getting one of those.

@@kaoe145 Just saw on another video where the guy was playing the new tobacco burst model that it DOES have the push/pull on the tone pot.

LOL at the two guitars in the beginning. I love G&L Guitars and am a fan you could say. Those guitars on the other hand though just make me shake my head. They took a basswood body and gave it a fancier paint job and they want 750 USD for it. I Guess that shows how hard and expensive wood is getting these days.

Looking forward to a blindfolded shoot out between the American made G&L legacy deluxe, Fender American Professional II, and anything "S" like from a custom shop/builder.
