@@woundedtiger7547Ticks are typically on long grass. Not saying they can't be on a tree but I've never seen one on a tree. I live in the Midwest where ticks are rampant and we have a lot of grass praries.

The Alps Lynx 1 has been on my motorcycle gear acquisition list for over a year but I much prefer sleeping in the lay-flat Hennessy hammock. Rather than buy a tent, I modified the Hennessy hammock to pitch on the ground, albeit as an inconvenient and sub-optimal tent which I justify by the weight savings.

One of the best additions I’ve made to my camping gear is a backpacking pump for my air mattress. Instead of sitting around blowing, I just attach it and turn it on, and by the time I’ve set up the rest of my sleeping gear, the mattress is full. Takes away my least favorite part of setting up camp. Thermarest makes one for the new valve you’ve got, but I have a Flextail Tiny Pump X and it works great for my older valve.

Howard Prairie is a shell of what it used to me. The Drought has done a number on it. Back in the late 80's the reservoir was full and we had some great trout fishing there. I went to college in K-Falls and visited Howard Prairie last summer for the fist time in years...

A very handy add on to a dualsport is an "omega" made from 3/16 brazing rod. Heat and bend the circle around a 3 inch or so pipe. Bend the ears of the omega fairly tightly and trim to about 3/4 inches long. Wire tie to handlebar brace over bar clamp. Fold out flat and put morning coffee cup in it or use as a glove holder. Folds down when not in use.

I’m just about to do my first “motocamping” trip with my first bike over 360 ccs zigzagging from the Bay Area across the Sierras up through redwoods, Crater Lake, Bendover, and back home to Washington. Haven’t ridden in years, now doing research. Gone are the simple old days of bungee-cording a grip or a backpack on the back of my bike and heading out. Feels a bit overwhelming, but got good tips in this and his other gear video. I especially like the cold oats and the thermos cooking. I wish my CB500X could hold a cooler, but I’m not doing hard panniers.

If you blow up your sleeping pad with your lungs, the moisture from your breath will cause you to be cold at night. Warm weather it won't matter but in cold weather you'll freeze sometimes . 😅 been there lesson learned lol use a pump of some form promise you'll get warmer results in cold Temps.

Excellent video and product reviews, sir! I second the AeroPress for great coffee in the mornings. I'd never thought of the hunter's tree strap for securing gear at camp... that's awesome! I'm definitely adding a couple of those to my moto-camping kit. Your video production is always top-notch. Most people don't realize how much effort is required behind the scenes to capture all of the angles, and how much time is required to set up for those shots. Kudos to you sir! As always, I'm looking forward to your next videos! 👊😉👍 --QM

There are a couple of reasons that I did this. I mainly carry my camera gear on the back, and I wanted some thing that was completely waterproof and dust proof, but also without any zippers as they tend to break.
@kennethvernonprivate
@kennethvernonprivate Жыл бұрын
@@SterlingNoren yes, zippers!! I think you said in your US-Canada-US loop your zippers finally gave out!! I have, like many, zippers everywhere it seams. I’ve tried waxing etc, but what seemed to extend their life best was straight silicone spray! And, this was a new one for me, my waste snaps on my motorcycle pants were getting harder and harder to ‘snap’ and to pull open. In a desperate attempt, last second before a ride, I carefully gave a squirt of chain lube/wax inside the female portion of the snap! Fixed it 100%….. like new!!

Thanks for sharing! This was helpful. Out of curiosity, do you leave near beautiful areas like this or do you have to plan trips? I presently live in a highly populated area and there's nowhere local (to my knowledge) like this. Planning trips/adventures can certainly be part of the fun, but while there are pros/cons to both sides of this fence, I often think it'd be nice to have a change of scenery. Somewhere more in line with nature. All the best.

Good vid Stirling. I've replaced most all my motorcycle camping equipment in the last couple years. Some really good innovative products out there. Several because of charging compatibility and capability. The old Thermarests are truly outdated. Lot of good very simple stoves as well. But the Wolfman equipment is still yop notch, and made here for the most part.
