Stunning! As a garnet collector these came just in time for my 20th anniversary gift & the colour of passion comment sealed it 💜

It's incredible that there was a new type/color of garnet discovered so recently. Is there a type of garnet that comes in a true/pure fuchsia color? Magenta and Fuchsia are similar to each other but still distinctively different. I imagine fuchsia garnets are incredibly rare, but still possible to be found. Thank you Jaimeen for coming on the show!

Wow! Those are gorgeous! I love garnet for all the beautiful spectrum of colors that it comes in, and rhodolite garnets were my favorite! I didn't even know about the purple ones! And these brand new ones are so gorgeous! I've got a new favorite color! Magenta has long been a favorite color of mine! Up until about 1 yr ago, my hair has been dyed magenta since I was 17! It was a dark auburn with a purple added to it! And I loved it. I called it purplier! These new garnets are absolutely beautiful! The difference is obvious when next to in comparison with the others. Fabulous color and the shift when the stone is larger, in color, is totally cool! I have a new favorite garnet! And overall pretty high on my gem favorites too! Thanks for sharing this exciting, new discovery, with us!🎉❤

I love what I thought was rhodolite garnet and was shopping around for a piece in this exact color, but I thought the purplish tones like these ones already existed under rhodolite, I have small ones in this shade set in a ring. For these new ones is their distinction just the location they're mined or is there a chemical difference? Honestly, it's hard to visually tell apart some of the new magenta garnet and the grape ones, even in the cut examples there's some variation that pushes it more purple. I do adore this colour though, and it's great that there's a new source that produces them. I just wonder if there's an intrinsic difference between the more violet garnet and this new one.
@gems4 ай бұрын
Seeing them in person, there was definitely a difference in shade between the magenta and the grape. Hopefully, once these become part of jewelry, we'll be able to do more side by side comparisons.

I have a beautiful 14K gold ring I purchased while working in Park City Utah that is, I was told, an “onion cut” garnet. . It is flat on top and shaped like an onion cut in half. Is there such a cut? I’ve been unable to find any information about it. Thx!

wow i literally just rewatched ypur garnet episode yesterday 🤯 QUESTION: how is it different from the other garnets structurally? i hope you guys find larger and larger gem-grade pieces and maybe even facet one as big as the Lion of Merelani tsavorite!
@gems4 ай бұрын
Good question! The answer is...we're not sure. Like rhodolites, these garnets most likely fall somewhere in the pyrope/almandine range of garnets, meaning either a magnesium aluminum silicate or an iron aluminum silicate, but with the other mixed in to some degree (since garnets are rarely wholly within a single species). But, what makes these unique is the color and that can be a very complicated mixture of trace elements, including iron, chromium, manganese, and vanadium. I don't believe these have yet been tested deeply enough or with enough specimens to make a determination as to the specific trace elements and valence states responsible for this lovely shade.
@jermpang74 ай бұрын
@@gems wow yeah it's such a distinct color in a gem that you could easily describe it like how you describe blue in Paraiba tourmaline or the green of tsavorite or emerald or the orange of spessartite or the sunset hue of Padparascha amd i could go on and on

I highly doubt the people on this video who have millions of views and are very well-known would scam you. And not really fair to say that about India considering about 80% of all gemstones passed through there at some point for either lapidary or certification
