Looking forward to see you put those awesome tools to use. Please post videos so that we rookies can learn how they work.

I have had one just like that for over 40 years now. Make sure your drill press is Rock solid and stable or your cutters will chatter like crazy! I ended up making a different arbor for the cutter and using a mill to do my heads.

Thank You for the input. I have been window shopping for a small mill/lathe - problem is any of the compact units are too small to do any block work. Will just wait for a full size unit to present itself.

Very cool tool , been wanting to get one. You are right about having to measure the cylinders, as ever brand is different. Revmaster are larger than the other and AA and mahle are different sizes also. Make some videos of that cylinder cutter, I want to see it in action. Also that Berg valve guide cutter works great. Just got one and been using the fool out of it. Plus you got one more Subscriber 😉.

Hey, pretty cool tool. Don't think torque plate needed on head since plate isn't sitting where torque of jugs affects the head. Might even shrink jug bore so you end up cutting more than is needed. Definitely a must for your cases though since it will be resting where base of jugs go ! 👍

How many thousandths of clearance were you planning on using? .002-.004? Just guessing, because I'm not a metallurgist.

I'm thinking more like 15 or so. Cause you have to figure - a circle - so that makes for 7 1/2 on each. Total of 15. The cast iron will swell & shrink at a different rate than the mag or alum case. I would have to look at my notes to see for sure.

Hey man, great vid. You know if this will work for type 4 cases or are the bolt holes too close together?
@vwmountainman97014 жыл бұрын
Not familiar with the Type 4. Do not know !!!
@kmo48284 жыл бұрын
@@vwmountainman9701 Thanks, The case/head studs are wider apart on the type 4. I see you only have two bolts on the tool going to the head. I thought maybe the other two were wider apart to accommodate type 4 too. Just emailed scat about their tool too.

I call BS on the torque plate theory here, it is nothing like using a torque plate on a block. Furthermore, that supposed torque plate isn't even being torqued to the head so it's even more BS.

Well - It is basically a centering plate jig. So that when the head or block is being bored oversize - the plate locks down with the cutter assembly. Keeping everything as true as possible. It is for use on a large drill press setup. Because not everyone has or can afford a milling machine. So BS if u want. That's what they call the plate.
