Perfect explanation. I didn't understand the triangle part moved like a clock hand. Now it makes TOTAL sense! Thanks GZ!

I used a (common cheap)TypeK thermocouple wire pushed down the dip stick tube far enough to be into the oil at least an inch , bend the wire coming out of the tube down along side of it and secure it with a zip tie to hold it in place so when you pull the dip stick in and out the wire stays put . The wires come in various lengths I got a 6 foot one , work it thru a little hole in the fire wall or heater box to a cheap voltmeter in the cockpit that has TypeK plug inlets and check your temp digitally F or C . You can even attach TypeK thermocouples to the cylinder heads to get the head temp of each cylinder . Tiny amazing things !!

Very Cool. Thanks. I got mine from Berg 25 years ago and it still works great. I don't like to leave them in unless I am testing a engine. The are PITA to check when hot like at a fuel stop. Very hard to read with fresh oil and old eyes. hehehe Thanks again Hippie Man
