Our kiddos are 12, 10, and 8 and we started when they turned 5 with one chore for each year they are old. Age appropriate of course - water plants, put away silverware, that kind of thing… the youngest is still working on learning a lot of things but the 12 year old is SO capable now - he does his own laundry, washes cars, etc. Don’t worry mama - your babies are still little - they don’t need many chores yet!!

I appreciate the real time vlogs. Sometimes when watching sped up cleaning of the many YTers I watch, I get anxious and then rush thru my cleaning. Not all the time but I like to see YTers enjoy cleaning and organizing in real time. I am trying to slow down and enjoy cleaning and organizing ❤💚💜💙💛

My son started age appropriate chores at age 5. Now at 7 he loads his laundry in washer/dryer and folds/puts away clothes, wakes up with his alarm, sleeps in his own bed all night, garbage, unloads dish washer, fills refrigerator with drinking water, cleans his bathroom, cleans his room, makes his bed, mops and vacuums. We designate 3 chores a day, give him weekends mostly off. It’s a huge help for me and teaches him responsibilities. I’m proud of him. We definitely used a sticker chart for chores and he earns allowance.

My son has had chores since he was a toddler. We started just having him help pick up after himself. Now he’s 7 and he helps clean up from dinner (cleans off the table, helps load/unload the dishwasher, and can work the vacuum), puts his own laundry away, picks his toys up, wipes counters, can clean toilets, and scoops the litter boxes. I think it’s SO important to instill that in them early so its just an expectation that everyone who lives in the house helps around the house. He knows mom isn’t a maid. 😜

Around 5 yrs is when we started having our kids do chores. I put clean clothes on hangers and fold the rest, and then I call them to come but their clothes away. They have to keep their room picked, and make sure any mess they make, they clean up. They are in charge of taking care of their backpacks, jackets, and shoes after school, but we have a HUGE hall tree right by the door, so it's really easy for them. My older boys 13 and 11 help start laundry, change laundry around, loading the dishwasher and emptying it. We want them to learn responsibility but also be kids.

I nursed all my kids at night till 8-9 months. Baby 4 is 5 months old and still nurses. I say introduce chores as a routine as soon as possible because that way it is just habit. If you wait too long it might be harder and more stress/ melt downs. I know at first it is faster and easier to just do it yourself but with practice the kids get really good at them!

So many things to share with you about mushrooms. Never wash, you should only wipe them off with a damp paper towel, don’t salt til the very end of cooking (I guess it makes them rubbery) and the moisture from sautéing should take up the brown bits off the pan. Thank you for sharing all your videos 🧡

I've looked into and did a lot of research for age appropriate chores. There are all kinds of lists, and then I picked ones I knew my kids could do. They've always done "chores" to a degree. Well, I started at two, like picking up toys and being mommy's helper. I think Carter would be old enough and mature enough to help with his laundry if he wants to. But it really depends on the kid and mom. My kids are older than yours, and that worked for me. You do what you feel best about doing. There's no hard rule that says your kids have to do chores at a young age. It can help them learn fine motor skills and can also help them gain confidence too if, and when, they start. By ten my kids where doing their laundry (Yes I helped with soap and stuff). And my kids loved it.

I'm not usually a huge "app" fan but I did the huckleberry app for night weaning my 2nd and I would absolutely use it again. It's completely customizable in terms of how gentle "no cry" to "fuss it out" you want to be etc. You track their sleep for 3 days then fill out a questionnaire and you get a personalized step by step sleep plan from a real sleep consultant and you can ask questions and tweak the plan as you go for only like $15 a month

My son is 2.5 and he has things he loves doing that are kind of his “chores”! He feeds the dogs and cats every morning, and helps set the table for dinner most nights. And then when he’s home and I’m cleaning he loves to dust and then vacuum with his play vacuum while I do mine. He loves helping in everything! Especially cooking too. So we are taking the approach of fostering him wanting to help in hopes it will become habit 😂
