@@SoulStreak64 Licensing issues in the USA. When a Japanese company got a license like Super Back to the Future Part II or New Ghostbusters II, they cared about making a good game first. When American companies got exclusive licensed properties like LJN and Activision, they care only about making an easy buck and put no or a crappy effort into making a good game because they thought people will buy it anyway and by the time they played it and realized that the games sucked, we got their money already, who cares?

@@dustman820 To add to that, I think a thing that helps is when game companies aren't set on a time crunch to get it done to coincide with the movie's release date or something like that. Having that extra time and freedom after the release to have an honest shot at doing the best you can tends to make sure "the problem with licensed games" isn't there - ask Goldeneye about that one, back in the day!

I found out this game existed just today and I fell in love. The chibi art style is so good. I love the pixelated ghosts and specially how Slimer looks. Even the Ghostbusters have a likeness to the actors, look at Peters hairline! So cool how they still managed to give so much character with such limited resources.

I wish that this was released in the North America. My young self back in those days when this game was released would’ve enjoyed this game. Amazing that HAL Laboratory made this game and I like the music. It got the beats going on with this game!

One of the most hilarious scenes within the movie. Despite what everyone says about Ghostbusters II, it’s still an awesome and enjoyable movie.

What makes this GB game very notable is that this one uses 8-bit renditions of a couple of songs from the movie's soundtrack. This includes: * Flip City by Glenn Frey for the Railway. * We're Back by New Edition for the Sewers. * Spirit by Doug E. Fresh in the segment before the final confrontation with Vigo.

Some actually have made repro carts and even went all out in the cartridge's presentation with a clear shell and coating some parts in glow in the dark paint that resembles slime (i.e. one cart version uses green ''slime'' as a nod to Slimer, while another one uses pink ''slime'' that resembles the psychomagnotheric slime from the film)

The only thing good about this pseudo-japanese game is the music as it takes from the movie's album. I know that it uses the Ghostbusters theme but it also uses "We're back" "Flip City" and "Spirit".

While this version only came out in Europe (because HAL Laboratories had the European license for this game, while Activision had the North American license for the Ghostbusters II game we actually did get), both HAL and Activision shared the license to release the Game Boy adaptation of this game. So North America can play this version on the Game Boy, at least (in black & white, granted, but better than not having it at all, and at least it doesn't make Winston look blue).

Would I prefer this one over the one we got? YES! Hell I would pretend the Genesis version was the Filmation Ghostbusters! Whatever Activision spat out was NEVER Ghostbusters. Pitfall perhaps, but definitely NOT that.

I just played through the Activision GH2 and it was soo bad. Did not remember how bad anymore from my childhood times - and it only took like 20min to play through with a few gameovers. Waste of money. This on the other hand, looks like a more proper ghostbusting game, which I had no knowledge of. Better music too!
